I mostly agree with your take, i tried both variations and nova, they are different. nova is too "relaxing" and not as fun nor detailed as variations. while bass was fixable with eq, when i was outside with bg noise, the treble almost disappeared for me, indoors it's totatlly fine.
Electronic music is not exclusively synonimous with bass. That is a nonsensical generalisation. The ignorant and incompetent pre-misconceptions of the review community is now becoming most taxing.
All foam tips are trash so I won't use them. That being said, the reason they will say foam tips make Nova sound better is because foam tips heavily reduce treble, and adds heaps of low end, so that it sounds less fatiguing. The truth is, foam tips will heavily alter the sound signature and also destroy tech capabilities.
Nice review. I'm still thinking of weather or not I should get the Nova. As someone who lives the Variations I'd love to have a cheaper version of it to carry around.
Kato outdated, heaps of things better than kato including Nova. Foam tips suck, I don't recommend them in general. For the beginner into the hobby, they can make it sound better, but I wouldn't use foam tips because of their bad durability as well as massive reduction in technical aspects.
