If anybody is wondering, VDE stands for Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik e.V. (Association for Electrical, Electronic, and Information Technologies.) it's a globally recognized and trusted certification body based in Germany. WIth the pliers, cutters and screwdrtivers etc; you can be assured of a general high standard and particularly with insulation.
I have never had a problem with either aldi or Lidl but your videos are very informative . I have a parkside rotary tool and found that there is room in the front for an extra bearing which reduced the vibration quite a bit.
I got the water level a few months ago due to wanting to find height changes on my house floors. It is not great. you need to get all the air out of the tube and make sure the tube is flat and not ovaled at any point. It does work but tale some setting up. Also use food dye in the water to make it easier to see.
hi Dan ive just been to lidl and didnt see any of the things you have got or i would have bought some especially the rotary tool great vidio as usual keep up the good work
I have been using the VDE screwdriver sets from Aldi daily for the past 7 years, they do the job just as well as more expensive ones. They only fail if you use the wrong driver for a screw it was not designed to be used on. I bought several sets and would buy more if I needed them. I also have the 4v rotary tool from Lidl, having used it's previous versions for years this one fits nicely in the hand so should do well. I also got 2 of the accessory kit in the rotary holder as it's a bargain and will last me for many years. Great stuff.
I bought an Aldi Workzone socket set four years ago, about 120 pieces, I keep it in the car, this set has been used and abused and until last week has never let me down. I have never broken, rounded or split a socket, all the hex and torx key sockets are spot on still. The only issue I had was last week, I broke my 1/2 inch wrench !. I do however have to say this was ENTIRELY MY OWN FAULT !!. The torx bolts holding the face plate had begun to work loose and I was too damn lazy to nip them up before doing a brake job. As I was undoing a 19mm bolt on a brake calliper carrier the little torx bolt gave out causing the internal cams and springs to come out. I ended up being unable to find the springs rendering the wrench useless. A valid lesson learned. I cannot praise these tools enough for the quality of them at a cost of pennies. I think the set cost me about £35 for everything amazing value.
I must admit all the tools I have bought from Lidl have been excellent we never shop at Aldi so I cannot compare them with the Lidl ones. Thank for all your videos they are useful and informative.
Another Great review, the rechargeable multi - tool would be a great addition to my tool kit. I already have the multi tool bit box as I inherited an old black and decker multi-tool from my later father, 8 years ago, and only picked up the tools last year but not been able to find the multi tool itself. I always enjoy waiting for your video’s and have picked up some bargains from Aldi and Lidl over the last couple of years. Keep going Dan as these videos are great.
Hi Dan, nice reviews. I always have a wander down the middle of Lidl (and Aldi) when I go in. It's surprising how many of their tools I have picked up over the years.
I like the look of the VDE screw drivers. Nice set. I have the Lidl rotary for modelling. One from last year with a good accessory pack. Works very well. Thanks, nice video Dan.
Thanks for the video, i think it is good to have this type of channel. It would be good to see how your getting on one year on. I think reading the manuals before reviewing will help your delivery more but upto you.
Great video as always, I would love to win one of your giveaways and this one looks really good. Many thanks for your videos and for your giveaways. Best of luck to everyone. Take care and stay safe, Joe
Hi Dan, I've watched pretty much every video in this series, and like very much your presentation style: witty, informative & entertaining. That multi-tool looks great. Just the job for modelling work.
Great video and as I’m a new subscriber I’m looking forward to exploring your previous videos. I’m a Parkside fan and have only bought a few items from Aldi. Ever since they stopped doing web orders the range of tools from Aldi seems vastly reduced, although that might just be because my local Aldi is quite small and therefore doesn’t have much space for non-food items. Looking forward to the next video!
Hi Dan, once again great video - showed the importance of rtfm!!! Would love the rotary tool - even though I'd need to rtfm myself. Take care see you next time
@15:45 stick the plastic pipe in hot water as it allows the pipe more flexibility so will stretch as you push it on. Brilliant for long distances such and building,, extensions or even fencing.
Hi Dan another great video. You are lucky to have found these items at Aldi & Lidl as I haven't found much in the way of new decent items for the last few weeks. Both my local stores have been very poorly stocked in the middle Aisle areas. The battery operated multi bit sanders etc is the best pick up you have managed to aquire these past few weeks. I did see I think it was Lidl was meant to have a multi work bench for £20. But yet again they had all gone when I was in. So you have to be prity sharpish to get anything decent. Thanks for the vid, best wishes Kevin 🧏♂️👍🤝
👍 for the video. When it comes to DIY electrical work, I make sure that the power is well and truly off and no live wires, so no risk and no need for VDE drivers.
As a retired Electro-Mechanical Engineer [H N D] those "neon screwdrivers" @ 1.38 in the video are dangerous and should NOT be used by somebody without substantial electrical knowledge, i.e. when you have used the screwdriver to find the live and it shows that there is no voltage (neon not illuminated, probably because the neon has failed) and you go to grab hold of said wire and you unfortunately get an electric shock. If in any doubt get an electrician in and save yourself the hassle better yet throw it in the bin
This is the first time I have watched your video thank you for showing the tools and explaining their use it's very helpful I look forward to your next informative video thanks
Until recently the rotary tool came in a case with various collets, tools and so on. Lidl also sell a decent pack of tools for £12.99 although your favourite ones always wear out before the rest. The water leveller is possible how they got heights when building the pyramids.
I used a water level a long while a go for work, no laser levels back then lol, little tip put some food colour in when you fill it, help with seeing the markings.
What a brilliant RU-vid,my friend. 1st time I have seen you . Top man . Will follow you for more RU-vid. And look at your old ones to ?. But I find you have to be there on the day to get some items. Cannot wait till you're next one . Thanks ian
Just found the channel after a mate told me about the Blackbird and the garden layout. then I found trash to track then this. Had to subscribe such varied content. really enjoying this thank you.
Great review again. The water gauge idea is very old, the Romans used them for building their aqueducts. Probably useful for your model railway layouts.
I went into Aldi to get the multi tool and they were sold out very quickly which was a shame as it was a great price, another really enjoyable video and once again very kind of you to do another giveaway
Hi Dan, first time watching your channel! You must be a natural presenter, video comes across in a nice relaxed manner, talk and video work seamlessly together - well done! Looking forward to more videos, as for Parkside tools always amazed at the prices, £6.99 for a cordless dremel style drill/grinder - really? I would love one, if I'm lucky to be in draw. Best Regards Dave, keep the vides coming ! they make a refreshing change, easy to follow, and understand not like some others that are O.T.T. in presentation but lacking content.
I bought a Parkside Cordless Soldering Iron. It is a fantastic piece of kit. It came with various sizes of bit but they were the only let down. Bought a set of generic bits from Amazon and they work just great. Perhaps my only criticism is the temperature setting. It is adjustable (up to 500 deg C) but there is no indicator of temperature on it. Good quality though, and the battefy is very long lasting.
Do like seeing whats on offer from both Aldi and Lidl in particular- I have an Aldi within striking distance but Lidls a bit too far away, so these vids are great to see whether itd be worth a trip!
Hi I am 75 and a retired bricklayer started at 15 retired at 65 and the water level is what we used back then along with a Cowley level worked off of floating mirrors very fragile
Am rather taken by the impact driver bit set. A very tasty package. I think I might be suffering a minor distraction to the middle of my local Lidle tomorrow in search of these. I didn’t notice them when last I cruised the isles last week … I can imagine them being popular. They would, hopefully, be nicely compatible with the new impact driver I treated myself to a couple of months back. It’s always amazing how expensive a quick drop into Lidle for a pack of ham for my sarnies seems to be 😊. I picked up one of the profile gauges myself recently. I don’t have a specific use at this time, but it looked too good to pass by!
I've got a bigger parkside rotary tool. Quite handy although it struggles a bit if you drill with it. I'd be interested to try that smaller one for grinding plastic on models etc, looks a handy smaller size. Great reviews aga8n
