I really like my Meistersinger 1 hand hours only watch .... It says ..."I don't care" ...great for a retired guy. Cool watches, great show ...

I've never had a 1-hander JR. But it is a good retirement watch. I think I'll get one with 4 indicators and one hand: ... to indicate the change in seasons. Take care and be safe, Bill😷

That Siena watch is really nice. That dial is a copy if medial wall clocks from the city of Siena in Italy.

Dear Bill, I am certain that you are aware of the AHCI Circle of Friends in which collectors are invited to join. One program idea for you is to do a few of your five minute programs highlighting one or another horology group like the AHCI or the Horological Society of New York, etc., that welcome lay members as well as horology professionals. The Musee international d’horologie in La Chaux de Fonds not only welcomes international members but every few years they offer a pretty neat limited edition watch through the museum with a significant portion of the proceeds going to museum. Cheers.

Hi Howard, I've been a "Friend" in the Circle of Friends supporting the AHCI for a couple of years ... and other than getting automatically billed none of the promised benefits have been forthcoming. (I think I'm still a 'Friend' ... not sure since my cc changed...seems more of a donation than a membership) Now the Horological Society of New York has been a boon. I've been to their watchmaking workshops, lectures and signed up for the annual gala (unfortunately, cancelled due to the pandemic. (Must admit, though, if you live in and very near NYC, the benefits are greater. Going to one of the lectures generally means an overnight stay in NYC or a midnight trek via Metro North and a drive back to north central CT.) However, the Society has been offering their workshops all around the US, Canada and some overseas; and those alone are worth the price of membership. As for the Musee International d’horologie in La Chaux de Fonds-that's one I will definitely explore. Others have suggested it as well, and there are some very interesting watches available through the Musee. You're right, it would be a good VestPocket video. Thanks, and be safe! Bill 😷

WatchArtSci Well I feel better for not having joined. That said, I always feel that my HSNY membership is worthwhile. Because all of the lectures are available online for members only for 30 days and then posted on RU-vid, together with their education programs including the traveling programs (I did my course in San Diego) and their watchmaking education scholarships, I think that they are an organization whose horn is worth tooting.

Beautiful variety of independent watchmaking, I’m always amazed at countries which these watches(and other rare vintage watches) end up: Australia, Japan, Eastern Europe, to name a few. Transport is fairly good, Eastern Europe is verrry slowww! I’ve ordered a Zenith movement at the beginning of COVID-19, and still waiting for it😢. Your suggestion of a e-site for independent watchmakers should also include per-owned. But would be more than due. All the best, stay safe, John
@watchartsci
@watchartsci 4 года назад
Hey John, you've seen the video I did on what happened to my order from Poland (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kDA7HSFN_Uk.html ); Maybe Chrono24 would be a good model for the AHCI ... at one time, Chrono24 had a marketing hosting program where watch companies could set up their own "web site" within C24. I don't know whether they still offer that service, but it might help them. It seems that some would rather use their watches as door-stops rather than pay for marketing costs... Take care and be safe, Bill 😷

Re the AHCI website you mentioned. Watchmakers are like retailers, trying to get them to forget their self interest and work in unison is almost an impossibility. As good friend of mine once said "It would be easier to heard cats." Good advice and interesting video. Kind Regards.

Well, FPJ is an AHCI guy; so you got your foot in the door Tim. It's the interesting and relatively affordable complications and design concepts they bring to my collection and it's taking on a decisive new flavor since I've added the Roger Dubuis and Daniel Roth watches. Excellent video. I’m interested in diversifying my collection from the “common” Rolex sports watch. The “holy trinity” is where i was headed next until i saw this video. I think i will now focus on the members of the AHCI instead. Way more interesting. Thanks for the excellent content.

Hi Bill , I see watches under Vincent calíbrese name and also NHC. Are these lines from separate eras or at some point he changed the brand name ?

@@watchartsci There's this spanish watch dealer that has quite a few NHC watchs but none of them have papers or boxes which is odd as thees watches are not old. He said he bought them from a buisiness that was closing. that's what he says but who knows :). you never know as Chinese fake any brand. I saw it with my own eyes in Thailand and China.

@@watchartsci It's called Arum S.L. None of these NHC watches have paperwork or boxes. They told me that they bought them all from a business closing down. Well, that's what they say

@watchartsci 3 года назад
@@AmatriceBand I checked them out on Chrono24 where they've been selling watches for years. Like you said, they're a Spanish dealer, and after checking out their site in Spain; they seem to be legit..they have a 5-Star rating on Chrono24. My hunch is that most of their watches (especially the new ones) come from failed businesses with our without boxes/papers. We may see a flood of those after the pandemic ... keep an eye out for sales! Take care and be safe, Bill 😷

@AmatriceBand
@AmatriceBand 3 года назад
@@watchartsci Bill There's a dealer in USA selling a bunch of these with no paperwork and boxes. And they said they are the authorized dealer of BLU. They also mentioned that they lost two boxes while moving and all the paperwork and boxes where in those tow boxes. Well, sounds odd to me. I'll do some research about the names on the weekend.
@watchartsci
@watchartsci 3 года назад
@@AmatriceBand It's hard to say. So many watch sellers go out of business that getting a carton-load of watches without boxes or papers wouldn't surprise me. (By the way, if watches are easy to fake; the paperwork is 10x easier to fake; so I don't worry too much about paperwork-if in doubt, I always check with the Mfg.) Let me see if I can find more. Take care and be safe, Bill 😷
@AmatriceBand
@AmatriceBand 3 года назад
@@watchartsci True about the paperwork faking but the chances of someone faking the watch and the paperwork at the same time is very reduced unless it is an extremely popular watch. Many big brands apart from VC & PP ( these are the two i know of ) wouldn't usually get back to anyone about a particular watch, unless it's a niche micro brand. Or by the time they get back to you the watch is sold or the buyer disappears :)
