The Taliban has made it Illegal for women to leave without a male in this country. This has started a resurgence of “Bacha Posh”, a tradition where Afghan families basically let their daughters pretend to be boys. This tradition was around before the Taliban existed. But now families that have lost their male members or never had sons are relying on their daughters to cross-dress to contribute financially or help their parents.

No, it’s not a way to escape. I know that in some Middle Eastern countries they have blocked women’s passports from even escaping if they try to escape, they returned back to those countries and placed in jail. The country I’m talking about is Saudi Arabia it’s probably the same in Afghanistan to.

I had an Uber driver from Afghanistan. We were talking about various things but when I brought up the women and their struggles, it wasn't as if he tried to shut it down or out because he felt uncomfortable, it was more with the energy of utter disinterest. It just bored him immensely as though I had gone onto a subject that had absolutely nothing to do with anything at all. Like going from talking about human struggles vs some barn animal struggles.

I was there in 06/07. I helped raise school supplies for multiple girls schools that were just starting up. I was able to go out on missions to deliver those supplies and was impacted deeply by my experiences. War is never pretty but it’s not always bad. Our presence there brought an abundance of progression for women that has recently been deleted.

That woman got the entire history of the taliban wrong lol the talibs grew from the young afghan refugees of the soviet invasion who fled to pakistan and were radicalised by the religious schools there. The usa never directly funded the taliban which actually resented the US funded mujahideen who had turned away from islamic crusade to warlordism after the soviets were driven out. There is more to it than that but those are the basics. I also struggle to sympathise with those of you scared of this happening in the west because I see you on every video hating on men and I know you would do everything mentioned here to us if you could. I’ve tried to reach common ground with many of you only to be dismissed or insulted because of my gender so maybe some people need to be reminded that ‘rights’ are a social construct and the only ones that exist are the ones you can enforce. For most Muslim women wearing the hijab is not really a choice but really a social expectation from their family, a “choice” made because they think they will be a bad Muslims because it’s highly recommended to demanded (depending on who you ask) in their religion or because they live in a Muslim majority country where there are religious based legislation. The most free Muslims live in non Muslim or western countries and they are the only ones claiming it’s a choice when for most of the Muslims it isn’t.
