Cats supporter here. This was a bloody heart stopper of a grand final and the best one I've ever seen. I really do feel for St Kilda, though they deserved it just as much as we did. It's a shame they lost twice in a row, but the Saints are coming! They'll be a powerhouse again in no time!
very nice of you man but I'm not so sure about my team. They need to prove themselves in 2019 and if they don't then who knows how long it could be until we win another flag...
if there is one team I want to see win a grand final it’s the saints. They’ve deserved it after these really unlucky chances at a flag. They deserve it more than any club in the AFL
Soccer is the greatest and by far the most important sport on Earth and is massive in over 240 countries. Soccer is the universal language that every nation on this planet loves. Afl is massive in 4 out of 6 Australian states. Still and always will be a minority sport in Qld and NSW. Soccer will be the number 1 sport in Australia by 2050 and every suburb will love soccer and every suburb will have its own soccer club gdjsr

@@traviscollins6401 05 and 06 were just boring games played with not much spirit and soul, and they were only close in the last quarter. 02 and 09 were proper football games that were tough, played with so much spirit and soul, and were close all match. I know what I'd prefer
Will go down as one of the great Grand Finals like the 2002 GF played in a similar way with similar conditions. No team wanted to give an inch but the experience of Geelong in the end was to good. Thanks again @sportjunky4371
Chapman, Kelly, Rooke, Ottens, Ling, Mooney, Johnson, Enright, Corey, Milburn, Scarlett, Bartel, Selwood and Ablett. This Geelong side was a juggernaut. But St Kilda remarkably were arguably the better side that season.
Yes, for St Kilda in this 2009 AFL Grand Final match, it's gonna be a heartache tonight, as the US rock band The Eagles said 30 years earlier, in 1979. And they were right, the 2009 AFL Grand Final once again ended in both heartbreak & tears for St Kilda, as they suffered their 5th AFL Grand Final loss in the history of the club.
I remember being absolutely exhausted from just watching that grand final. The best battle of the cats modern day flags. If it was any other team than Geelong I would have loved to see the Saints win one. They were the best team I have seen not to win a flag. Hopefully the drought ends soon for them (just not against the cats!)
Free kicks have ruined this sport from the get go, fine the athletes if you need to but dont just give points away then you wont find out who the better team is
Rubbish. Key Forward for Geelong in two flag teams, he kicked 5 goals in the 2007 GF ffs - wasn't the best KF in the history of the game by any stretch, but he was a very good fit for that dominant Geelong team; he and Steve Johnson formed a lethal 1-2 punch as forwards.
