Tom Hawkins is the prime example of forwards can push in the back, but backmen can’t.

This season has been a shocker for umpires, inconsistent the whole season.

The holding the ball rule needs some serious clarification, players, coaches and fans have no idea which way any decision is going to go, dissent should be decided by the MRP or tribunal, losing a game because a player expressed his emotions on the field should never happen.

Hawkins is a protected species in the AFL

Selwood and Hawkins get everything given their way but literally never get anything called against them. Selwood ducks and Hawkins dives but hey let’s just make an example of Ginnivan because he was open about it. Selwood literally has the world record for free kicks for literally the same action that Ginnivan gets nothing for 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

You've missed the two biggest howlers of not only 2022 but possibly ever. Darcy Moore featured in both. The ridiculous contact below the knees against Hawthorn when he was first to the ball, a hawks player fell on top of him and they got the free in the square. Second one the deliberate rushed behind in the wet against the GWS, even though he touched the ball inside the goal square. Edit: we can add the preliminary final "no call" to the list.

Umpires can absolutely spoil a good game of Footy.

Ginnivan's push was one of the biggest flops of the year. Guthrie lightly put hut his hands into his back without actually shoving which is something you're allowed to do and Ginni launched himself of the diving board.

That whole abuse rule almost killed the game.

The nick daicos tackle on Duncan is mind blowing to think it wasn’t paid as ball absolute joke and things like that lose a close game

How is the duncan one at 2:26 supposed to be holding the ball. He juggled the ball the whole time and never had enough control of it to get rid of it and was tackled immediately.

0:51 the fact that all the players started running st kildas way after the tackle shows everyone on that field knew that was incorrect disposal. Unreal

The Warner one is an insane double error. He didn't run too far, and his "dissent" (over a howler) wasn't even enough to meet the insanely strict threshold at that time.

If this video says anything, Geelong are really looked after.

Hawkins has been allowed to shove people in the back for literally his entire career and the commentators always talk it up as his strength. Like how the Melbourne defensive unit involves May/Lever holding onto their opponents arms while the other tall takes an intercept mark.

2:15 It was a high bump so it doesn’t matter if it is a legal disposal or not. It has to be a fair tackle for htb which it wasn’t. Right call

I hate when people say Steve Hocking made football great again ... footy was making that transition anyway..all he did was create controversy and anxiety all the way down to junior level..The new 50 m penalties and the stand rule are hideous and are deciding game outcomes 😡😡😡😖

Not a Geelong supporter but the Selwood throw looked from the umpires angle as a handball have to admit so don’t blame that one. The one right after not deemed holding the ball is right cause he never had full control before the tackle therefore didn’t have possession, right call. Same with Bolton against lions, never had possession, right call. Blues high against trelor is disgusting from the blue player. Great vid. Mate I hate to say it but Ginivan dived like a swimmer in the Geelong game. They said earlier that week no dives or ducks would be paid.

That Dan Butler tackle was so frustrating I was at the game and the crowd was with me so frustrated it cost us the game that night the umps and it ended up being our season

Thanks for putting this together! Great video! If degoey got 3 weeks then Pickett should have got 6. Just because one person has a strong neck, hard head should determine weeks. I guess those were 2023 though. And there were easily 6 Ginavin high tackles in 2022 you could have featured.

I appreciate the umps have a tough gig, with the one eyed fans, the abuse on and off the field, the constant scrutiny, but this video could have been 40 hours long with the clangers I have seen this year.

it was correcting umpiring on the Ginnevan push (guy did a massive swan dive) and the Carlton touched ball against Richmond (hand/fingers wiggled after contact with the ball).

It appears standing on the mark awards 50m now as well (Magpies vs Swans). Umpiring appears to be getting "worse" with BS calls, gambling companies all over the footy, coincidence?

Need to adopt the SANFL and AFLW rule of last possession over the boundary line free kick to other teams, removes all controversy and umpire discretion from the game.

It seems to me some umpires have a love affair with the Cats which started when Ablett was playing. Some also have a down on Ginnivan.

Some people clearly don’t understand the rules of the game. Mitch McGovern bumped vandermeer off the ball and front on as he was running not in the play. As well as the Shai Bolton being tackled by Neale, great tackle and would deserve holding the ball of Shai ever had prior. His attempted to dispose of the ball as soon as he got it and if he can’t dispose of it he never had prior.

You forgot the 2 fifty meter penalty’s Essendon vs Sydney. In the second time they versed. The first one was definitely there but when they gave another one away because Guelfi was in his line it was so wrong. The Sydney player went over a punched him in the back for him to move and he got the fifty down at his end on Essendons comeback

Quite a few of these aren't even bad, but overall this season has been a shocker

So many times this season players have just been allowed to drop the ball while being tackled. It doesn't feel like umpires are actually looking to reward good tackles anymore.

U could put Errol Gulden tackle against Bulldogs that was called a push in the back when it should’ve been ball!

The 8 grand finals I have seen my team CARLTON win in my lifetime I never complained about the umpiring once lmao. Can't wait for the day when the old Carlton and Collingwood rivalry happens again in finals I miss that.

Not a good video, a lot of these decisions were correct 1:20 correct decision, push in the back 2:08 advantage, umpiring preoccupied looking at Mason Cox taking selwoods head off 2:28 play on, never took possession kept fumbling 2:47 correct decision, Ginnivan dove onto the ball and failed to get it out 3:14 correct decision again, massive dive 4:51 correct decision, wasn't close enough to the contest to take the player out 6:02 correct decision, ducked into it

Although Hawkins definitely pushed him in the back, Andrews jumps afterwards making it look far worse than it actually was,

2 things: 1)THe abuse rule has to be the worst new rule the AFL has ever brought in. Players would look the wrong way and a 50m was paid because the umps were too soft and precious to have any form of disagreement. 2) Ginnivan is the epitome of the boy who cried wolf; he made a name for himself as a ducker and a flopper so now when he deserves a free he is much less likely to get it. That being said, the two you put here are 100% not frees for him, he literally dives when Guthrie touches his back and against NM you can clearly see him drop his knees into the tackle and immediately look to the ump. He has talent, if he just focuses on playing the game he'll be a star, until then he's gonna be hated for being a sook/flop.
