He was caught on a secret recording saying some pretty putrid things about the sexuality of a female college. It was sh't that would have been said 20 years ago in a school yard. Doesn’t mean he’s to blame for the entire loss but it certainly does a lot to undo all your hard work and prep as a coach and players and is disheartening. Bevo is bang on here

A bit of courtesy and professionalism is all he is asking for. Robbo broke the story on Brad Scott leaving the roos but told him to his face what he had heard and what he was intending to write in the paper the next day. If you’re a journo with respect like Bevo said you get in contact and discuss if they’re comfortable with the disclosing of the information which hugely impacts another teams time to prepare for you tactically and actually sets you at a massive disadvantage. The leak is a problem because its causes issues with the players. Finding out if you made the team or not through a leak to a journo shouldn't happen.... Particularly Morris probably brought the information from someone within the club. The coach should be allowed to tell the players first then allow it to be mentioned to the press...

Not even a doggies fan but I fear for the repercussions of this blowout. I understand bevos frustrations but he shouldn’t have taken it that far and could have simply said “next question”. The leak wasn’t even that bad anyway but he has a history of hating journos. They’ll be talking about this in articles and all the footy shows for ages, what it means about the culture of the club and all that other useless crap. I don't disagree, but what does he do...sit on it and stew on it, or approach Morris behind the scenes?! Either way it's become personal and ugly, maybe Bevo was trying to highlight the under-handed tactics that journos use in getting scoops, and the fact there's probably a mole in the Bulldogs camp...which should be more alarming. Personally, I like that Bevo spoke his mind and addressed it rather than just the usual platitudes of a boring press conference. A leak that gives the opposition information on your team and extra time to prepare for you tactically is an enormous disadvantage so saying “not that bad of a leak” is completely disingenuous and I totally disagree

Bevo is obviously sour about how much journalists can peer into, and make public, players and coaches lives, and taken this broader frustration this out solely on tom morris in an almost un newsworthy grievance. I thought it was pretty funny and loved bevos tenacity. I think bevo is right to want to open a larger narrative up about this. Journalists like Damian Barrett are up in arms about a coach being so volatile about a journalist "doing his job". I think its fair to question the level of what "doing their job" has come to and if 24 hour coverage and commentary (from largely coarse voices like Tom Morris, Kane Cornes and Damian Barrett) is having a positive impact on the game and peoples well beings. I would argue it certainly isnt. I dont go for the bulldogs or melbourne to be clear
Bevo may well be spot on in much of what he says but the delivery was an embarrassment and deserves a hefty fine for bringing the game into disrepute. Will be very surprised if the AFL do nothing given such a vicious attack on the lifeline of competition the media. Not a fan of the media but they are the biggest factor in promoting a sport and keeping it in the spotlight without them the AFL would not be the dominant sport they are and only a fool would think otherwise. You cannot use a press conference to spread hatred against the very hand that feeds you and expect to get off Scott free. Expect a $20k fine in the mail Bevo.
The media aren't the lifeline of the competition. Just look at how much promotion the AFLW gets and no one watches it. The NRL has plenty of media coverage and yet the AFL trounces it in terms of a following. The quality of football on display, the time schedules and the price of admission are by far the largest determining factors in who watches the league. If a journalist is leaking team line-ups before they are released by the clubs, especially when they barrack for the opposition team, then that journalist should be called out.

I think Bevo was already angry simply because of losing. It sounds like Morris heard information before hand and leaked details about one of Bevo's players being dropped before the weekend. Morris is a Melbourne supporter and Bevo reckons he's been out to get him and the Dogs a few times. Combine that with losing the grand final to the Demons and then losing a round 1 clash with them.
