2:58 An Arab engineer once told me that a German professor told his foreign students that it took Germany decades to prove to the people that the new techniques are more effective, and when they return home not to be discouraged by initial setbacks. When immediate rewards were not forthcoming, German workers abandoned the engineers and returned to their farms and old ways of doing things. In the end, however, the engineers were able to prove their case, and today's standard of living in Germany ranks among the highest in the world.. B1

Kudos to those who made the journey to relocate to Africa it takes alot of strength and courage. Ghana seems like it was the heavily marketed landing point to Black Americans , however there are so many other options to expat to on the continent. For example, Ivory Coast & Senegal is just as or even more developed than Ghana. However many Black Americans don’t want to learn French or the local language. Nigeria, Sierra Leone & Gambia has its vices but they are other English speaking options for people who need an English speaking country as a landing place. South Africa region has several English speaking countries. Also, people are so focused on where they can do business, find cheap housing and land that they don’t put enough emphasis on cultural compatibility. Some countries are more conservative than others and people don’t think to live amongst groups where they blend more in. Africans are very visual people & your social interaction could be different depending on what tribe or country people perceive you to be from. This is not America. Family ties and sometimes tribes gives you more leverage than tying up your bootstrap. People run to Tanzania & find they can’t adjust to a conservative Islamic & Swahili dominated society. Somehow, They overlook Kenya when it’s English speaking, modern & more liberal. Rwanda is also nice. People get upset when they learn Miami Beach culture won’t happen on an African beach in a Muslim country. I think some of us need to take accountability for not researching enough or taking initiative to become apart of the community to make the ease of living better. Many Foreigners move to other countries and make the initiative to learn the language or marry a local…somehow we think we are above these hacks. How much would scamming go down if people utilized learning the language, blending in, finding local friends, marrying someone. This is why so many people did not last.

My brother Go Black 2 A, I’ve noticed that since we or some of us are starting to come back home to Africa, that they the Africans our brothers and sisters aren’t making it easy for us raising the cost of living, the cost of renting etc, why don’t someone tell them that we don’t have as much money as they would think, remember we were or our forefathers and mothers were sold or taken out, we work for less here in the west and now when god put it in our hearts to come back home our family thinks that we have all this money, I’ve noticed that Africans have good education coming from Africa and can get great jobs in the west, but they don’t know that we did not get good education, our fore parents fought for us of today to can even get a good education, even having obstacles constantly in our way, so I’m asking my African brothers and sisters to know that we have struggled to have what little we have, and to come home to exploited by our own is heartbreaking, people of Africa know this we are coming home thanks to god, so make it easy for us to back, so we can help each in every way possible, I hope you read this Love always black people

It's good that those in the diaspora have left for the motherland to pursue a new life and open businesses., and it good to see those that have went are being patronized and supported by both the continental African and African diaspora community. But my thoughts of why so many are giving up and returning to the west is probably do to individualism, those attempting to work through unregulated, and inconsistent rules and regulations within Africa's business environment can leave one feeling vulnerable and not knowing who to trust while always feeling like such a system is slowing you down instead of making it easy for one to move forward. The best way to move quickly through systems that are slack and scantly regulated is to go collectively in groups to pursue common goals. Going as an individual and attempting to work through a maze of chaos, confusion, mix-ups, trick and slow down would probably cause me to want to leave also.

Another Brilliant interview. People forget that we lived thousands of years without money. We were into bothering, trading and helping other people to solve problems and that's what Ghana needs now--but, the skills level and educational levels are not heading toward helping people be productive. We need all the Black retired to go into the school of nations like Ghana and teach the skills that we need for our survival and a focus on independence from European and Chinese assistance, Ghana needs refineries and our Ghanian or Black Americans to run those places. Also Ghana needs refineries not just for oil but other minerals...a sharing of mineral wealth among the people of Ghana.

Dont blame the country for your business failings, if you are going to blame, blame your business practices. Remember in every country on this planet you have businesses that succeed and businesses that fail. So if you are finding that you are failing then its unfortunate that you fell into the failure group. Everyone is not going to succeed in business. Some will succeed some will fail. Remember failure is a stepping stone to success for only those who are are not afraid to fail and those who are able to learn from such undertakings and come back even stronger and wiser.

The country/government always have some responsibility in the law they enact and the support they gave to businesses. The enact laws to push forward small businesses and cooperations. They gave them support. This allows businesses to grow and produce jobs for the economy. This is why Africa and the rest of the world run to the West for financial development. The government always plays a major role in the development and growth of an economy. The government does not guarantee success in a business. That depends on a number of factors.

Africans from the diaspora are just going through the normal transition of migration and change as they relocate to Africa. It's not just a change of location but it's a total social cultural and economic transition. Some will adapt some will not, some will remain some will go back to America. The same challenges face Africans migrating to America Some make it some don't but you can bet it they will not hesitate to try and make something out of it, and so should african diaspora coming to the motherland. The key word is adaptation and avoiding comparisons that bring conflictions. These are two different environments and it's proper to know how to adapt to each when it's due. I would suggest you invest in the west where you reside and have a regular stable income first then explore opportunities in Africa where you can come and live humbly or a bit cheaper but peacefully. A dollar in some places in Africa can feed you the whole day but not the burgers, sandwiches that you are used to but for sure you will sleep well fed. Come and live like the locals, ie cheap housing, food etc it's the mindset that can assist in adapting to any translocation not the conditions that challenge you.

It depends on the person which of these things can be adopted. Certain things you might spend less on but it will be taxing mentally and it's not worth it when you're used to different.

Kudos to all those making the leap. Learning to live in an environment with limited credit facilities readily available to support businesses, housing, and the regular necessities like phones etc. Is by far one of the biggest adjustments that cause many to retreat. To be able to start a business that can generate revenue is the surest way to really stabilize you and your family and creat a critical mass of community.

Indians, Lebanese and the rest have been residing in Africa since independence. Why is it so hard for the black folks. We just can’t be patient enough to build or nurture anything to flourish. Black man complains too loudly without taking time to reason how to fix the problem. If we can try to work together as other ground do less fighting, perhaps we can make a head way.

I stated this about a year ago. You need build a network and have them, the Chinese have there government backing them up. The African diaspora need to have a network foundation that's pool money together and support each project as it grows. But, also have this network within the 5 division diaspora this is Africa, African American, Afro-Latina,Afro Caribbean and Afro West. For example: The Group of Seven (G7). The way we're doing things is too small. African American culture dominate the world and we still haven't came together and used this like our ancestors did to created ancient Kemet/Egypt.

The Lebanese and Chinese are doing it in Ghana and you hardly hear them complain. Of course it’s supposed to be hard, you’re supposed to fail and fail big until you begin to succeed. Let’s not focus on making videos to complain. What we’ve not done well as a people is work together. We need to learn how other groups do it. If African Americans are serious about moving to Africa then there has to be the establishment of an African American Bank. A solid financial base in Africa should be the foundation of our success.
@mrw1762

Truth be told the government is not helping at all…. Not to the natives and much less to the diaspora. Greed and high-handedness pervades and this stifles individual initiative. The Lebanese and Chinese came to stay and pretty much stay together. Especially the Chinese come with serious money as well from their banks or whatever.
@nanayaw9754
@nanayaw9754 9 месяцев назад
@@mrw1762 let’s have an attitude of ignoring the corrupt government (s). Let’s remember Lebanon’s economy is not comparable to that of the U.S. Americans per capita income is far more than the Chinese or the Lebanese. We have no excuse. We cannot afford to fail in Africa. And please Ghana is not a beast. In fact we need to STOP catastrophizing the problems in Ghana. As I said, Ghana and for that matter any other country is not supposed to be easy. This is the problem with living in the west…you develop an ego. Why would you go to the Motherland expecting to be patted on the back for what you have chosen to do? Personally I believe, if you’re doing something from the heart, you’re not looking for outside validation, only from your spouse/ partner or loved ones. If outsiders do recognise, then that’s a bonus, but if you’re waiting for outsiders to boost you, and you don’t receive it, you’ll definitely want to leave.

I just returned to the UAE from Kenya 🇰🇪 and Uganda 🇺🇬. This was my first visit to the continent. I plan on returning to visit more countries in Africa this year such as Senegal 🇸🇳 , Ghana 🇬🇭 , South Africa 🇿🇦, Rwanda 🇷🇼 and more. As mentioned in the video, countries in Africa are not viewed as top destinations such as France, Greece, etc. In my opinion, we should visit and begin thinking group economics and how to begin ventures on the continent, even if we decide to stay for part of the year. As mentioned in the video, the food, air and water in Amer- reeka(as one of my Emirates students pronounce it) is being poisoned. Not to mention, that huge corporations are buying a large percentage of homes and B. Gates is purchasing the farmland. Look for my reflection video of Nairobi and Kampala soon....

I don't believe bringing "Corporate Accumen" to Ghana will produce anything truly good. It has failed the people anywhere applied. I would suggest getting into the Trades such as Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Irrigation and etc. and bringing those skills there. If you build a good foundation where people have more than they need the rest will fall into place. If you bring the cut-throat corporate world as the foundation what do you think will follow?

It’s not easy as we try to come there to make an impactful difference and the mindset will take a huge heavy lifting. Now, there appears to be a different mindset between west and East African mindset. My observation is East African mindset is more in alignment. Ghana if she isn’t careful will not be Ghana in 15-20 years. It is disheartening because there are beautiful people there but they don’t make it easy and I understand why other cultures bring their own people to work in their own business because the mindset is too challenging. Africa has 54 countries, so Ghana isn’t for everyone. There are some other African countries we as blacks people that we need to explore that may be a better fit business wise.

Business is Business anywhere in the world every part has its own dynamics and not everyone is caught to be an entrepreneur so has nothing to do with Africa. For the African American, you are an American let no one take that away from you and going to Africa should be a way to reconnect your missing roots and build that inner awareness and self-confidence so that you can be more productive in the Americas and cut through all the nonsense operating at the subliminal level, thereby taking your rightful position and building your wealth. Yes, go to Africa but not necessarily to relocate but if you feel drawn towards that path then you need a different mindset and level of awareness. FYI...Peace of mind is great but it is subjective.

Welcome to the African reality. African countries don't have social security systems. Most people don't have access to credit. How do YOU as foreigners expect to get services that CITIZENS never get? Really? You should have done your research. At the end of the day, YOU made a personal choice to move. Didn't you plan for it? People need to take responsibility for their choices and lack of planning instead of constantly complaining and being entitled.
