Who's helping which "partner" to stay afloat---80% in Africa are linked to agro sector, for them to be granted "aid" dollars they have to accept cheap agro products from EU to flood their markets. The African agro sector is then devastated by more than what it receives as aid. But the EU farmer still gets paid. There is NOTHING like "free aid".... Africa is better of with China, NO AID, just trade!
@@D-E-S_8559 Africa needs to build its own market and stop relying on European sectors. Seriously, European partnership isn't going to benefit Africa ever.

The German reporting is far more balanced and honest than French reporting in Africa...respect to Germany for having a authentic dialogue and reporting. The African youth is watching and see the difference.
Of course, it won't be a partnership of equal. Africa has many times the population, resources and area of EU, but Germany alone has more money than all of Africa combined
I highly appreciate the points raised by member of European Parliament Assita Kanko. She has clearly expressed what is the problem we Africans are struggling with.
Your government must put tariff on European agricultural products to prevent unfair competition. Protect your domestic farmers. EU should know better than making these kinds of trade deals!
I lived in Sudan for 9 years and africa definively need for example german logistic and technoloical knowhow to ecport or conserve their products in an efficient way.... so they should offer good price or help in building infrastructure. But if you choose russia or china for support you wont get critical reports at all about the relationship ... at least europeans elected liberal multicultiral governments recently which is a good basis for a equal partnership in future!
@anjaumbach3983 Europe has been complicit on funding certain political figures who are impoverished our country plus their trading deal are unequal unequal. Face it the EU needs a poorer more vulnerable Africa because otherwise they would lose their position as superpower
The partnership is equal in the sense of both parties interest are being addressed. Not equal in economic, or military power. The point is that EU cannot dictate terms to Africa.
How much of that international aid was conditional? And how much aid was conditional that the aid money is spend on military equipment from the donor nation?
@@nomxhosapekani7966 It’s inevitable that most Africans will only be able to afford cheap Chinese products and therefore increase China’s power. Nonetheless for more advanced products there are only three leading markets, North America, Europe and South-East Asia. Africa, South America and Australia do not even show up on that list.
european countries use subsidies to kill local competition and dominate. Africans haven't learned to block imports of vital products like food. only import things unrelated to survival.
As long as one continent requires help from the other it will not be equal. They will have an equal relationship once Africa invest enough in its education to develop and produce their own knowhow.
Why is the US struggling to produce semiconductors at the level of Taiwan? China, EU, US, nobody does it better then them. Assita Kanko. This lady is one of the people that should be leading the reforms in trade that is needed to propel growth in Africa. Why? Because she has a clear view of what is happening, what is wrong, and where the continent should be heading. Sadly we have a lot of leaders who are not ready to see the future Africa, or if they can they are not ready to change the old ways of dealing with present day reality. We need a clear vision of our road ahead, with the foresight of people who can formulate and impliment it. I was very excited to hear her views. We have the knowledge, we just have to have the right people in place.
She's addressing African issues as if she's talking to White Rightwing conservatives. No one in Africa is hung-up about Russia and China's "democracy", they just want to access their capital markets, trade markets and tech. Africans have lived with and understood their former colonial masters and by extension the EU's modus operandi for too long, and once the conversation gets to "corruption", we know that is the end of the conversation. You see Africans understand, that corruption exists everywhere, even in the EU. But what matters is when the stolen loot is then CAPITAL FLIGHTED out of Africa, denying their economies the investment of that capital. If African corruption was indeed such a problem for the EU, it wouldn't be such a welcoming haven for that loot... What Africa needs is an END TO AID, and, an end to been forced to open their Agro markets to cheap over-subsidized surplus produces from the EU---that would have an IMMEDIATE impact on a large percentage of Africans, and would literally wipe-out the periodic food shortages as well...

What is different between Somaliland and Somalia because Somalia was Italy made name Della Somalia and Somaliland is not Somalia !!!! Where is the justice where is the love !!!!
If foreign produce is cheaper than local produce, in spite of being less fresh, transportation costs, high wages & poor soil in Europe and custom duty, then it's the fault of the local farmers. They are doing something unbelievably wasteful or are irredeemably corrupt
Yeah that's not how price works lolo the reason they can't afford their products is because of the cfa franc which ties their currency to the euro. This means when thr euro goes up in value like in 2008 so does the cfa franc which makes trading local products more expensive. This makes importing cheaper from the local people's point of view. Also Europe subsidizes their products African countries don't have the money to do this and they all have been forced into free trade agreements that remove import n export tariffs with European commerce. All n all the fault lies with the larger power pushing such a unequal monetary system and trade deal on African countries.
China has done more for Africa in 15 years Europe has not done anything near in 100 years. Take Nigeria, barrowed 5 billion twenty years ago and now owe 56 billion after paying 28 billion without fail.
@@friendo760 they haven't killed millions in slave trade, nor killed millions via colonialism like europe has, nor has engaged neo colonialism like europe. China is objectively better. Africans have tangible results of that.
Aww another story about how Africa is a victim 😱 Africa needs to stop blaming the west for the inequality. Most African States are fully independent. Its been this way for 3 generations now! They have more than enough resources to develop their countries. They have access to technology. They have the choice to impose human/women's rights. If there country's are still undeveloped, Africa can only blame themselves! If Japan, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, India can all develop. Then Africa should be able to do the same. Stop blaming the west for your problems. It's your country, you are ultimately responsible 😉
Nonsense! Adam Smith’s 'The Wealth of Nations' explains the need for foreign trade to advance both sides. Isolationism only creates another North Korea.
@@jansix4287 I have Adam Smith’s book but he is taking about economics. I am taking about evolution and survival of the species. Humans are a tribal species. Eurasians and Africans evolved separately for more than half the time of the existence of modern humans. If it was any other species the experts would be categorizing the two groups as subspecies. But because there’s a need for “harmonious existence” the two groups are packed together as one species and imbeciles don’t stop scratching their heads while trying to explain the causes of “racism” and “inequality”. Why can't Africa stop buying these foods? Let Africa love itself for goodness sake. Come out of these agreements that don't benefit Africa. Racism and white imperialism by the western countries haven't changed much in the last 4 centuries. It is for Africa to decide how it is going to overcome this.
Africa will always be like this tribal and ethnic sentiments with a mixture of us not knowing the type of continent we want to be , what we want our true role in world affairs to be.

Assita Kanko speak factually on the migration crisis and human trafficking. However this shameful act is a disgrace to all humanity and will only end with zero tolerance. Africa need to start multilateral talks to develop a consensus across the continemt with long term objectives and initiatives to propel African leaders and heads of state into 22nd Century. Africa needs to stand tall and work in unison to persuade the populace that the future is right here with incentives to remain which would require a more stern approach towards smugglers with harsher jail sentence. Governments must develop as a block to increase manufacturing, GDP through exports, build economically infrastructure and ensure education on top of the agenda for generations. Healthcare, jobs and investment need to be top priority and not left to its own devices. Of course this would take time but long term smugglers and corruption would dissolve like an aspin.
Europe has been away from poverty for a long period of time. European politicians have little empathy and experience on how to get these nations out of poverty. Actually the real human rights is achieving industrialisation in African countries, which means building up road, bridges, factories, schools, and hospitals.
