AFRICA UPDATE: FOOD SECURITY 

As an agricultural engineer with many years of working in Africa the difference in farming methods and yields between The West and Africa is startling. The technology to grow more food exists, the fertilizers exists, the imroved seeds and finally the equipment exists, the problem is that for generations African farmers were satisfied to grow just enough food to feed their families and a little extra to barter with. The concept of growing food even semi industrially nevr took root. I have visited universities, colleges and schools as well as ministry of agriculture offices, I have spoken to engineers and ministers but the lethergy and the waste of equipement and resourses that could revolutionise farming is staggering. My fear is that time is running out for Africa, already the United Nations is going to move a quarter of its staff to Kenya, why,, the competition between China and the West is hottting up, large western concerns are activly trying to get African governments to give them access to billions not millions of hectres of land for industrial farming and because of resistance to rising food prices in large cities governments will allow those bad actors in.
