I liked the conversation with the Imam. However, I have a critique, isn't it possible that there are Arab Americans or people sympathetic to the Palestinian case who intend to vote for Trump as a way to ensure Harris loses, and that be considered a punishment to the Democrats? They shouldn't necessarily be Christian or Druz or uncaring. It may be the case that they are extreme in their opinions, but it doesn't mean that they don't care for the Umma. I actually know many Christian and Druz Arabs who care a lot about the Islamic Ummah that they are part of. Under Islam, all sorts of people lived and considered themselves an inseparable part of the Ummah.
As an African American muslim myself, im extremely skeptical about how this video will turn out and i just started. I hope my suspicion is wrong. I'm 15 minutes in and i have a turning sensation in my stomach. Its so infuriating to watch my brothers ans sisters arabize their speech and attitude and then claim to represent the African American experience. African American muslims have more than just Gaza to consider, and one party is most certainly the lesser of two evils in regards to passing laws and enforcing conduct that defends black men. When we get pulled over, the cops dont ask us if we are Muslims. One party wants to empower those same police that murder us to do so with legal impunity, and our so called black leaders want us to prioritize aparth!ed on the other side of the world instead of prioritizing dealing with the one at home. Both can be done at the same time, but not if our so called leaders are so infatuated with identitarian equality with their immigrant colleagues that they forget to educate those colleagues on the nuance of the black experience. Personally i don't want to end up like the Syrians or Palestinians or Yemenis or Egyptians or Assyrians or Sudanese or Lebanese who had long and rich cultures to celebrate and got effectively erased and subsumed into a wider Arab identity.
