We as American black women need to separate from others that are not us. The reason why she didn’t inform the other customers is because she identified with her African heritage more than Americans. I really think realistically they don’t like us. They will take are money and give us sub par service and we continue to keep going back. I started my locs two years ago and it was the best decision ever. With so many online tutorials about for our hair, we can do it ourselves. Hopefully by this video going viral more AMERICAN 🇺🇸 black women will not go back to African braiders. Let this be us taking back our love for our American Black women and girls hair. I don’t want any black girls going through this type of trauma. Enough is enough.

I haven’t been to an African Braiding shop in over 25 years. The space is always dirty and they alway have their children in the shop.

Black British women go through the same thing as well. It’s sad.

@@ennvee1989 Speaking of Asian nail shops. One of my Hispanic friends told me how she would go to this Asian nail shop and they would “rudely” (her word; not mine) speak in their language in front of her and the other customers even though she had heard them all before speak English fluently. She got fed up with this and decided to do something about it. She huddled with her female relatives and friends and they made appointments at this nail shop on the same day and around the same time. The big day arrived and they all showed up en masse to the nail shop. Of course the Asian shop owner and workers were excited because “Hello pay day” 💵 (cha-Ching!) But little did they know…My friend said within seconds it was like little Mexico up in that shop (again her words not mine) with Spanish being spoken loudly, proudly and boisterously. She said Asian shop owner and workers became very quiet as a language they didn’t know was front center and swirling around their heads like an annoying insect 🤭 Next thing you know the Asian shop owner and workers were all speaking in English. 😂 She and her fam and friends gave them a taste of their own medicine and I guess they didn’t like it so they pivoted 🤣

Oh damn, I’m from New Jersey originally. And i’m going to Newark to visit my family because that’s where a lot of them are originally from and that’s where they live at. Now I know not to go to Dee Dee’s and I will be researching them further! I’m glad you posted this video.

I stopped going to African braiders after the last African braider I went to arrived an hour late, braided my hair too tight, made me wait to finish braiding my hair because another client showed up, tried to pressure me into buying edge control from her before I left because she claimed I needed it , tried to pressure me into giving her a tip after how bad she treated me, and she played a racist slave movie. When I told her to please stop playing that movie because hearing the N word often and seeing a movie portrayal my ancestors being brutally beaten and assaulted was triggering, she tried to tell me that the N word wasn’t offensive and it wasn’t a big deal. How are YOU going to tell me what my ancestors had to go through wasn’t offensive ?! Me and her literally went back and forth. My grandma who is still alive today had to experience the Jim Crow era and was called the n word as well. After that, I left her shop and never came back. I made sure to leave a bad review as well.

Im a guy. So my opinion may not matter much. I been in many different barbershops. If you dont like the energy in the room. Just walk out & leave. Find a new shop.

I agree and that’s actually what the women in the video did but I still want to bring awareness and have the conversation…thanks for watching 🤎

Everyone doesn't understand the language they're speaking so there's no way for them to know what they're saying. This lady just happened to speak French which is why she left.
