wow, so much good info, Thanks a lot to Mr. Fleuren and the interviewer whom did a wonderful job. I also appreciate your sense of humor LOL (having a fews males in the female pond). Cheers!
Well spoke mr willy,my question is what kind of feed I can use to feed my 2years broodstock? My second question is...I notice each time I use my male fish to hatch and the milt wasnt active the way I expected.what can i do?
Very educative, thanks for sharing your experience. But you never discuss how to identify good eggs. What are the things to check in eggs to know the quality. Thank you.
“The quality of the pudding is in the eating”. Eggs are said to be good if they are fertilized well and hatch very well. But I believe you want to know that beforehand. Good eggs are stripped at the appropriate time not to early (resulting in dry eggs) and to late (resulting in watery eggs) . Good eggs have no aborted or white eggs inside and look dark green with big reddish nucleus on the side migrated. In the dry season, Catfish eggs are not as good as they are usually in the rainy season.
You have to treat the female with care! Don’t clean female broodstock with a dry towel. Doing so will take away all the slime. And it will most likely get infections. When you strip the eggs, strip again after 5 - 6 hours. Most likely you don’t get out all the eggs. And eggs that stay in the ovary and are ovulated starts getting rotten in the belly of the fish. It has to come out! Keep the water very clean and put salt 0.5% (5 kg per m3) in the water to increase the quality of the skin of the fish. After 2 days in isolation, you put the fish back into the broodstock pond with other fishes and feed them well.
@@WillyFleurenThank you so much Mr. Willy. I stumbled on your channel yesterday while searching for what to invest in and it has been wonderful. I will make sure that I watch all of them to get the best from your knowledge. Thank you so much sir. After watching this episode, I have this question, “after selecting the broodstock, do you allow them to mate and brooding naturally or you do it manually by taking out the eggs from the females and the sperms from males and get them fertilized in a different environment?
