What tribe are Americans? They even want to be called African Americans now. So you're telling me that your own tribe to you is less than America. 'That's why you guys flock to South Africa. You hate yourselves. I can find more cool things about your people and I'm a Zulu. How do we uplift our continent when we praise people that take from us.
I'm from South Africa but and I couldn't agree more, the African American culture has influenced our modern day culture, we talk, dress and act like y'all.
I'm African. I don't hate African Americans, I don't think I'm better than African Americans. I actually love African Americans & some aspects of their culture.
I'm African American. I grew up with many people from different countries in Africa. They are my brothers and sisters. Ignorance affects us all and we can't let false narratives define us. Much love from New Orleans.
ohh new Orlean please I've been wondering why how y'all kept your culture. I miss seeing the true line dance..please get a crew to Nigeria same dances I see on reels exists in New Orleans! When that one hbo movie after the hurricane Katrina came out. omg y'all killing it!🎉🎉🎉
I’m an African born and raised in the Bronx. African American culture raised me just as much as African culture. Africans owe African Americans for the sacrifices they made to make our lives easier in America, that’s a fact! 🇬🇭 love their culture AND MINE but at the end of the day we all brothers fr
Can’t wait for the day when “everybody” copy our business/community building skills. Oh wait…. Fk copying the ignorant/buffoonery part of us. That ish is nothing to be proud of.
Only the worst part, how to dress like hoodrats and rap...nothing else....not in intelligence, invention, how to raise family, how to be a father, how to be law obedient etc
This is a one sided, toxic dialog. There are African Americans who look down on Africans, and there are Africans who look down on African Americans. There are also Africans who love African Americans, and there are African Americans who love Africans. You see what you want to see. If you want to focus on the negative, you will see the negative.
Negative people will focus on the negative. Positive people will focus on the positive. That is life. I saw an AA commentor replying to an African that he came from a failed society. 😅 Obviously most African Americans have not traveled to any of the African countries. 😊 I have.
My father is Nigerian, I was born in the states too and I can’t speak my fathers language. His reason for not teaching me was more or less the same thing as Godfrey’s parents, I grew up with my Moms side of the family so it definitely makes a difference!
We didn't ignore anybody it's y'all doing the ignoring and now we are just giving it back. Out history is richer than all the other blacks with inventions and culture when we are told by y'all groups we have none. Now we have to battle these groups over who created hip hop
I had a Dutch lady tell me she was the original South African. When I asked her if she thought it was delusional to tell me about her Dutch ancestors & also claim to be an original South African she was so offended. 🤦🏽♀️
You know it's a shame that people confuse where you are born with ethnicity. It's no longer possible to always be born in the same country your ancestors were. People prefix AA with African because the belief system is that blacks in America are originally African. Even the blacks that were in the Americas before slavery still came from Africa.
Well "south africa" as an institution was established by the dutch. So shes right. Just look at the name, south Africa, Africa isnt even derived from any African language, its European.
I'm African "Zambian" I feel like it's mostly the older generation that hates African Americans just being around my dad and his friends they all speak negatively about them. I've lived in the States for 4 years and I have nothing but love for my African Americans
But at the same time they idolize old school americans like Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Lionel Ritchie etc and they used to copy all of the hair styles and fashion of americans in the 80s.
As a African American everytime I came across African’s I always felt like my presence bothered them. I would go out of my way to talk to them and I’m a introverted person I would go out of my way to speak to them because I thought we would have some type of special tribal connection with each other lol😂 .Honestly Most African Americans think that way which is why we end up hurt we realize that’s not the case.
You choose to watch American show. There are plenty of channels playing South African shows. I listen to SAFM radio maybe you should try it. Weekdays 12:00-13:00 and again from 15:00-18:00 . You will see that you're choosing America its not that its the only option you have.
Growing up in the 90s in Africa, everyone I knew used to look up to African Americans like we really admired y'all, then Twitter came along and brought about Twars!🤣🤣🤣
Well especially then, they had an incredible entertainment industry... The internet and gradually social media was eye opening...it's not all Hollywood and Hip Hop... When I started working, I thought 1st international trip would be USA but now it's like 10th...been to a few thus far a few Euro countries next...🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️
Godfrey is probably the most widely embraced & loved African Celeb in The US. He represents friendship between FBA & Africans in general. I don't think they want that concept to exist. Not in the world media that everyone sees all day.
Godfrey is hilarious. Every time I’ve seen him it’s new, funny, and you learn some history too. Dapped him up at the comedy cellar a year or so ago. This guy deserves so much
Yeah , he’s definitely very knowledgeable and drops gems. I saw another interview where mentioned that the term, “barrel of laughs” came from the slavery era. Blacks were not allowed to look too happy, so to mask any laughter they had to laugh inside a barrel.
I had a 19yo Iraqi interpreter in 2007. His dream was to come to America to be a gangster rapper. You couldn't tell that lil crazy kid that he wasn't Lil Wayne. He said his first stop would be the Magnolia. Lmao. Good kid man.
It is envy. And fear of our power. And not some mystical magical power We create cultural power. Got the entire internet (the world) doing 15 second dances.
From experience and travel during my military career, Godfrey is 💯 correct. Yes it's copying our culture in parts of the African Continent too. Thanks to Godfrey for shedding light on reality.👍🏾✊🏾
Godfrey spewing nothing but FACTS!!! I was blessed to watch him live in my country (South Africa 🇿🇦); he's speaking from experience, not just information
This "Everybody copies African American" & "African American culture is the strongest culture on the planet" is 💯facts! It has influence many here in the South Pacific!
For sure, my pop is from Nigeria and my mom is from the Southside of Chicago. And I grew up completely different from my brother and sisters over there.
Come to Africa. You'll see how much you're loved .You guys got a very rich well blended culture . It has eveything in it that adds taste and flavor to everything .
As a daughter of immigrant Malawian parents, I 💯 agree with what Godfrey said!!!! Being born and raised in this country doesn’t mean now I’m not Malawian. I embrace being both Malawian and American!!!!! And, Africans don’t hate African-Americans…that’s just not true.🇲🇼 🇺🇸
I'm African & love my African American brothers &Sisters ❤ All melanated people are family, we're all one ❤ there are Africans who say ignorant ish about other children of the sun & I've also experienced being looked down upon by European African, Caribbeans, God willing we change that behaviour & love one another, support each other heal 🙏🏽❤🧡❤
The reason British and Australian actors (of all races) dominate Hollywood is because there’s no stigma in those countries of a man or boy taking drama classes. So you get tough guys like Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth or Daniel Craig who learn acting and hone their craft from childhood. But in America, taking drama classes is considered feminine, so only feminine men take those classes (like Timothy Chalemet) and so you don’t have a lot of American alpha males in Hollywood.
Godfrey is a Nigerian born in America that is speaking for the millions of us Africans that were born on the continent. As far as I know most Nigerians love African Americans.
Just did my AfricanAncestry... The one King T'challa did before he passed on to the other side and it said I and the women of my mothers lineage are from a people of Cameroon... I'm so full and in love with the motherland right now and i dont even know her. I wish to someday but for now... I am soaking in the idea of Africa and her child Cameroon. We Are One.
Bro don't give your DNA to those J People, they use it against you for spying, weapons and so forth That is the main reason for those bogus Ancestry tests
@@stephenscuba6284🧢 you made that up 😂 Since the human genome has been mapped in 2003, evolutionary biologists can tell which regions/countries of the world your DNA/ancestors has connections with
I've been working with Haitians and Jamaicans for over 4 years and I can't categorize all ethnicities into one group but they've hated on me since day one and it's simply bc I'm American. They copy my mannerisms, my phrases, but they always come off like they think they're better than me despite what I know I've done for them
I’m African and was married to an African American woman, the best thing that ever happened to me. We still friends to this day…we love our American cousins ❤️
@@adorahenderson55 Yes, you are correct. I was just quoting a comedian. He knows his history too, but was telling a joke. Sister, in real life, I know it’s not funny. We are one!♥️
@@PickyPippi Funny thing is, colonization ended roughly 50/60 years ago in most African nations, meaning slavery just recently ended in Africa because colonization is a big form of slavery.
Had me laughing so hard, people in the cafe got up and moved away 😂😂😂 This vid! Definitely gave me some spiritual healing thrpugh laughter, i appreciate the story of your parents bro, my man 👊😎💙
