Oh Mark. After these past 16 months of refitting your “cat”, I am so very proud of what you have done to her! I have been following since the original “Wildlings” days and watched how you’ve handled your life’s twists and turns. Your abilities to move on and better your self with this new boat has shown us all what a terrific man you are! Your parents are so rightfully proud of the man you are, assisting you in so many ways! So looking forward to the upcoming adventures. Congrats sir and BRAVO!

You have done it! Your sailing, you have grown your skills enough to get yourself out of a pickle, and you should be very proud of your accomplishment. You say it's taken a long time. However, from my armchair perspective, you did a lot of work in a reasonable time frame. You have a great family dynamic, and I know you've made your mom and dad very proud. Bravo Mark Bravo

Tie some 3mm line on the top of the jib. Pass it down through each of the hanks to a block at the bottom then under the deck back to the cockpit. Free the halyard, pull the 3mm line and tie it off. It brings the jib to the deck and holds it there. Who needs roller reefing!

What a smile on our faces when the engines went silent for the first sail. That lost crock was a cheap lesson for those expensive seats and gear just floating round on an unblocked deck. Might be time for some web fence round the boat. good job. just love watching even the mistakes remind me of myself.

Hi Mark, I must say you have the best parents that any man would want. They just absolutely love you and love what you are doing, your parents are always there helping you and your mum is always doing something around the boat. Also your father is always helping you just wonderful. You should appreciate them as much as you can. I lost my father in 1988, and then my mother in 2002 and still miss them every day. Keep up the good work from Australia.

Very good and very well done. Nice that Mum and Dad share in it all as well. The radial cut Yankee jib is lovely, giving you excellent visibility forwards. Having hanks is also good, it'll drop so much easier. Just one thing...... WATCH OUT FOR WEAR ON YOUR DYNEEMA FORE STAY, CAUSED BY FRICTIONAL WEAR FROM THE BRASS HANKS. IN THE FUTURE IF THIS IS AN ISSUE JUST FIT A METAL FOR STAY. Enjoy sailing Andrew

If you want stiffer battons maybe consider wrapping them in fiberglass ribbon (like the handle bars of a racing bicycle) and then cover that with epoxy ressin. That way they will also be water resistant. And stiffer.

Agreed, they will break in the first strong wind, especially without a boom. Unidirectional glass with a tube over best. Plastic water pipe perhaps the best cheapo option. But still worth getting proper ones.

Don't forget, it is a Wharram double canoe, not a shiny, fancy modern cat. It is supposed to be a bit rough on the edges, not to organized. And long haired skippers are the norm. Some of the good examples and inspiration of the Wharram philosophy are Hans Klaar, Kiana Weltzien, Glenn Tieman.

Mark, You definitely want a boom but you can get better sail shape on the main just using the three points you have. Not sure if your halyard is maxed out but you should have a downhaul that will tighten the leech of the sail. How far down and back you tension the barber hauler will dictate the tension on the luft and the body of the sail. The boom allows for our haul inline with the boom. Currently you are getting both out and down on the sail as a combination. The boom allows you to separate the two into distinct adjustments. Btw, during the outro, what is going on with that person in the background? Very good edits, if not for the person jumping from place to place the edits are virtually unnoticeable.

I think beforehand the weather turns nasty you should definitely head towards home and ask mom and dad to help you finish up every on Mahi so that she's ready 💯.. Every day you spend not doing the big jobs there's several little things that go undone and before long you will need to spend another 6 months plus on the hard.. plus your parents are really good at doing things properly the right way the first time which is far cheaper..
