Yamaha Motor has showcased the 2017 versions of its popular litre-class sportsbikes YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M in Japan. The more performance oriented of the two - the YZF-R1M is untouched for its 2017 avatar. On the other hand, the 2017 Yamaha YZF-R1 receives some cosmetic changes. To be precise, the 2017 version of the standard R1 gets a new colour option that goes by the name Tech Black. Also, the blue coloured shade gets some revised graphics in order to look better than the outgoing model.
Mechanically, there is no change in the 2017 Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M. The R1 comes powered by a 998cc, four cylinder engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission system. The fuel injected mill develops a maximum power output of 197 bhp along with a peak torque of 112 Nm. The race oriented Yamaha YZF-R1M comes fitted with the same motor but the use of carbon fibre and Ohlins suspension setup makes it a more performance focussed affair.
