Agree totally. Had mine the same length of time. Best garden thing I ever bought and it gets a lot of use in sub tropical Australia. And it goes as good as the first day. The only problem i have had is that I thought this was so good that all Bosch garden products were the same. Not so with the battery operated extension pole hedger. But that is another story. Look forward to another 2 years review.
Thanks for the video. I've been on the lookout for a new shredder since my cheap Parkside one packed it in after only a year. I was originally aiming for a small scale petrol one as I have alot of woody shrubs and foliage around the garden, but after doing a bit of research on the AXT 25 TC I think I will go for it. It seems well capable and relatively quiet, and the fact that its a Bosch product instead of some generic, rebadged Chinese unit, it means that parts are readily available should anything ever break.
I love mine so much. I got the idea from Charles Dowding, ordered one from the UK and had to have an electrician adapt its plug and set up a special outside 220V outlet for it in Canada. Worth it.
after watching this video, decided to buy one, it's like a furious beaver in a box. love it. freshly cut fir trees swallowed up easily. it's a monster!. not cheap, but you get what you pay for

It looks like a great machine but do you have any experience with scredding softer plants? I own a big flower garden with lots of sunflowers, dahlia,s zinnia....enz. It would be great if I could mulch that for compost.

hello, note the machine loose in efficiency when the aluminium counter-blade has sustain a lot of shearing from the blade, the effect is the machine will not grab and suck up as much as with a pristine counter-blade, and you have to push the branche manually, especially with larger one. Don't hesitate to change the counter-blade some time. The blade can be sharpened with a 600 diamond tool sharpener without dismantle by flipping over the machine to have better access to the blade. Overall it's the best and the toughest shredder.
Hello, so you sharpen the "turbine cutter head" or the "pressure plate"? Would you elaborate which face of the part do you sharpen? My understanding is you can only increase pressure on the "pressure plate" and "sharpening" (sort of) happens as a result of the surfaces wearing on each other. Isn't that correct?
Yes the manual says the shearing of the counter-blade result of the "auto-sharpening" of the blade, it's not really the case because the aluminium is way softer than the hardened steel blade (to me it only "un-sharpen" the blade). The blade loose it's charpening if your wood material is soiled with soil/sand/small stones. Like avery cutting tool, it's always better to sharpen from time to time the turbine blades because it will "bite" and suck the material better.@@MarekVacek
My humble suggestion is that you put the WD on as you finish using it. Obviously not that serious since you have been using yours happily for over 9 years now. It’s just something I have found really good on other garden tools and equipment with blades. Thanks for sharing.

I've had one for a few years. I took it out yesterday and now I just get this beeping (beep, beep beep, beep) for eight to ten seconds. It never starts. The manual is describing a few different types of beeping, but I cant figure out what they mean by just using the word beeping. So, could you tell me please, if the pickup drawer is not in or not registered in, how EXACTLY does the beeping sound like?
I get the beep. Beep sound ( probably just faster than 1 per second) if the basket is missing or if the top hopper is not correctly located / clamped diwn
Thanks for your videos on this one. Very useful to have a long term understanding of performance in view of the price. I've just spent the first three hours with mine, and it behaved exactly as you described in all aspects. I note there's a knack to learn to keep things flowing, like keeping some woody stuff back to aid clear out after a bunch of soft stuff has been through it. Mulch builds up on the plate keeping stuff away from the cutting edges. The plate adjustments I'll make when the need shows rather than routinely i think. All the negatives I've watched are real, but I'd like to add that the captive cable storage is as useful as tits on a fish. Sadly we don't seem to get the plug in cable others have which would have been much better. Otherwise, very impressed with it.

Interesting how it coped with the greenery as I'd heard others (cheaper ones) clogged easily with leaves etc. On a side note, the wing mirror on my XK8 got hit by another vehicle whilst parked outside my Dad's house earlier in the week and broke the glass and housing. Not a happy bunny!!!
£400 for essentially a plastic box and blades! 😮. All of of these non-industrial shredders should be less than £200. I can burn out five of the impact shredders before I reach a cost saving on one of these. Simply not worth it. That's why his neighbour buys the cheaper ones. The thing I like about the impact shredders is they shred much faster and much finer which can then be composted much faster.
I just destroyed one of those cheap pieces of junk. Hated it. Noisy, blades needed to be sharpened almost after every time I used it, got obstructed all the time, to small of an opening,... I was considering a PRO-22 S1e, but then I found the Bosch in a handy-store. 30% off, didn't think twice.
Seems like a pretty rubbish design that you have to grind swarf off the aluminium plate to set it up. My Bosch silent shredder is 23 years old and has a conical screw cutting mechanism that requires no adjustment. It still works, but has always had a clogging problem when shredding green leafy brambles and suchlike. So I just leave the cut brambles in the corner of the garden for a few weeks to go brown. Also with my model, Bosch designers were asleep at the switch, because they made it very difficult to unclog the machine. You have to remove about ten Torx screws to remove the top hopper and pull apart the sides. Then you can remove the small inner hopper and gain access to the clogged stuff. Obviously the cable is not connected to a power socket during this work. Over the years I've replaced some of the more inaccessible screws with Philips screws so I can use a normal screwdriver. This design is a kind of nanny-knows-best by Bosch to deter users from disassembling the shredder, which approach gets the middle finger from me every time I have to unclog it.
I dont think I have seen your version in real life🤔. To cut cleanly with a slow moving blade through leafy material you need very low or NO gaps between the blade andits shearing surface. Thats the benefit of the sacrificial aluminium shear plate. That gap is always close to Zero. And to be fair, after 9 years I have still not had to change the block so its a very slow sacrificial process. Thanks for the intel on the screw version👍
@@ToTheGarage Is the shear plate easy to get hold of (replacement part) and easy to replace? I suppose if Bosch *designed* it to be cut into, it must be replaceable. I still think it's a weird design, though. Does it actually say, in the user guide, to adjust the knob till swarf appears?
@@SuperLittleTyke it literally uses almost your exact words. If you search ‘user manual Bosch ax25tc’ you can read a pdf version of the manual. The pressure plate is readily available either direct from Bosch or via eBay for around £38- 42
Have you got shares in WD40? Complete waste of money! Using it on plastic even dafter... This is like watching paint dry, get on with it man!... Ffs, haven't you read the instructions, the blade is supposed to have 0.5mm clearance not touch the alloy plate. Finally you didn't mention having to keep stopping and level out the chippings to be able to keep going, my solution was to mount mine on top of my brown wheelie bin.....
He said the aluminium was for sharpening. Is that not the case?. I imagine the aluminium will eventually run out so if it's not replaceable then it can't be for that purpose. I like the idea of a wheelie bin. How do you balance it up there?
No. The aluminum does not sharpen the blades. It only needs to slightly shave the ally plate. There’s no need to keep turning the wheel like he did. I’ve used mine for 4 years at home and in my gardening business and absolutely hammered and abused it. It probably got through 100 times the work of most domestic machines. It’s now at Bosch being repaired. That also speaks highly of the after sales. It’s always repairable. Note: with conifers, feed the branches in green end first. It works much more efficiently that way and is less likely to get clogged up. Great bit of kit. Well worth the extra if you’re going to use it a lot. 👍 Makes great mulch.
