While Michael is chasing down a suspect who leads him to an abandoned dam, but the suspect gives him the slip. Michael finds a secret door, but the thug ambushes him and tosses a grenade. Michael narrowly avoids the blast and is injured.
From Season 2 Episode 11 "Knightmares": Michael & Kitt are looking for a stolen substance called Alidium. After tracking a suspect to the Bedford dam, Michael is caught in an explosion and loses part of his memory. He wakes up thinking he's still police officer Michael Long.

Terrible shooting, they fire about a dozen shots at him from about a dozen feet away in a room, he has no cover and they apparently miss him completely, would take a great deal of effort to achieve that.
