Guys, please do not watch and think "Okay I'll use these tips to make an amazing edit!" Instead, do what Lauren does just to get the hang of the transitions first. You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great
@@riannecopter6920 Pre-composing pretty much just makes your original clip into a new clip, so all other transitions you put in the original clip just becomes a new layer and you can't see your effects you did the last time so you also add more effects and don't get messed up. Like for example, i'm seeing two tutorials and I want to do two effects to the clip (slide and position rotation) so you can't add another position to the clip since you already have one position keyframe, so you need to pre-compose that clip and get another position to do the position rotation.
i've been editing for about two years on after effects and i wish i had this tutorial at the time. Especially since you put your actual voice in it!! so much more helpful than a text box. ALSO if u r beginning don't give up in a few weeks of editing you will be surprised at how much u have grown since ur first edit!!

aSAP aSoonAsPossible the surest option is to just pay for it, it’s not that expensive plus you can always boast ab having the real AE. I suggest you buy it

Oh my god. I've spent 7 years editing on videostar as a kid and I'm working as an editor now so I use premiere but haven't used after effects at all and most of the people I work with never touch it because it's intimidating. I haven't touch it because of the same thing but now that I need it for a project, I needed a tutorial. I have never seen someone explain it so easily in years. I am crying, sobbing, bawling, screaming. You are a godsend. You are amazing. Thank you.
i have some really bad adhd and a lot of these videos are hard for me to grasp. my brain just doesn't accept the information and i just can't understand. for some reason this has been one of the only videos that has gotten info into my brain after like, 2 years of trying to do AE. i taught myself imovie, final cut pro, and premiere. i edit in film school and do somewhat professional work. yet after effects i could never grasp. im trying, and thanks for helping a start.

Well, there was one problem and that was that when I was editing, the video tends to go in slow-motion until it loads but other than that, it went fine.
@@leenlol6468 hi!!! i’m completely new to ae, so i may not be the best answer, but i think the picture/clip has to be downloaded as a file to import correctly? like it has to be in a folder on your desktop i believe but i’m not 100% sure :)

yk as a mobile editor for 3 years....i never expected to learn ae in jus 14 minutes....i experienced various apps such as vsp, blur,alight motion,capcut....and more and finally after ymonths of searching i found the right video
i started using videostar 3 months ago. and i got ae a week ago. ngl ae is easier than you thought. its easier than videostar ! videostar helped me understand keyframe and graph better. goodluck to all the beginners out there !! you can do it
@@lilibars after effects is a monthly payment subscription but you can get it for free, am is free and you can do cool transitions but you can pay for effects
OH MY GOD I MADE MY FIRST TRANSITION ITS SO EASIER THAN VIDEOSTAR WHAT THE HECK edit: I had to delete AE because my 7 day trial was over. I can afford just one month now, and I made an edit of spins, zoom in/out, and slides. I'm really proud of it :DD edit 2: I got ae again and some plugins!! I'm excited to start editing again, tysm lauren ur tutorials are rlly helping c:

I don't even have After Effects, I plan to get it, I was an editor for Alight Motion and Kinemaster, Alight Motion for edits and Kinemaster for normal videos, both phone apps, and I switched to Premiere Pro, I mastered it, now I want to master After Effects to be a God HAHA, your way of explaining is very simple, I love it, you deserve everything good in this world. By the way, I HATE the curves in Premiere Pro, they're horrible, I've been trying to understand them for a while now and they're a mess, the ones in After Effects seem to be more understandable. 💜

@@dracoswife353 theres this little button you can click that helps re watch its kind of looks like shapes, go all the way to the end of your edit and its right under neath the one that looks like a key chain

MOOD HABHAHA if you download blurmocurves (which is a sapphire plugin) and add it to your clip, it should be there? i gave up on blurmocurves because my motion tile wouldn't work. blurmocurves and yk, your classic transform transitions are the same thing, but apparently blurmocurves is smoother. i use transform and my transitions are pretty smooth sometimes! i've started using nulls to make them even smoother and it works! :) hopefully that helps :) - another beginner ae editor
izuku supremacy as a blurmocurves user, you actually don’t want to use motion tile, you want to use wrap X and wrap Y (on blurmocurves) and change both to reflect.

I used vs but wanted to switch to AE because the quality is much better, and I didn't think any tutorial was good, but yours is perfect and helped me a lot! Thank you so much!
"the pen amount (anchor) tool" is actually a really helpful tool. It allows you to change the anchor point of your clip (for the ones who don't know what the anchor point is: it is the big point you can postly see in the midle of your clip. And it is the "origin" from all the transitions, meaning: if you do a zoom in transition, it will zoom to your anchor point or if you do a spin rotation it'll spin around your anchor point). This is extremely helpful if you added a mask onto your clip and the anchor point isn't in the centre of the clip anymore, so you can just move it back to the centre. I however like to use it for spin rotations to create different transitions. It's only important for the transitions if you don't use Blurmocurves though since blurmocurves has an own anchor point that you can simply drag around however you would like to :) I hope this was helpful for anyone

im going to be comepletely honest. i just asked my dad for ae and he said yes but in the case that i study learn and take time into so i agreed. So i havent downloaded it yet but i wanted to wat h some tutorials on beforehand, so i search for some ae tutorials (even tho i knoew lauren is the best ae editor) so i look for a video she has made and i find this one. honestly lauren this video is so helpful and the way you explain things so clearly and calmly is just so amazing for someone trying to learn the qualities and amazing things ae has to offer. so thank you
@@userelena617 you photos might be blurry because After effects is trying to render your image, (which is normal). if you try exporting your project and its in its original quality, then everything is fine :) If not, let me know.
