Dug this, just wish the title of the video wasn't misleading since you almost off the bat have a plugin. Thank you for the explanation, this was great.
While adding blur and curves gives it an interesting retro look, I agree with this comment, increasing to 16 bit gives you more steps to your gradient mask and therefore less jagged edges.
I've done loads of your tutorials and they're all excellent, but in this one, the plugin didn't appear in After Effects even after I restarted, and my time displacement didn't have the source option... so animation didn't work...
Might wanna change the last part of the title to "no plugins required." The plugins you use aren't necessary, but the first time I came to this video I left as soon as the plugins came up because I thought that meant the title was dishonest!
First animation composer is a script not a plugin. secondly its completely optional, you can create the complete animation without using the scripts too! SO YES THE VIDEO NO PLUGIN REQUIRED.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'm sorry to hear that the tutorial was confusing for you and took longer than expected. Learning something new can definitely be a challenge, but I'm glad you stuck with it and gave it a shot. If you have any specific questions or feedback on how I can improve the tutorial, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and for your feedback, I really appreciate it!
