its incredible that no one has commented that poor Mingxi had stood by Anle for 10 years , redeemed their name and asked literally little in return. The "useless" Crown Prince did nothing while he thought she was monastry incarcerated for 10 years , did little to help the family regain their status , felt he had every right in the world to reunite with Anle and had a stupiid "publicity" agent ( ultra annoying ) in Anle's brother . who could only praise the Crown Prince not thinking anything of what Mingxi did for his sister and family. Mingxi was the real forgotten hero who died alone and with little regret shown by those he saved and helped.
Interesting analysis. The Brother wasn't the most on the ball character, but by saving him, protecting him and keeping his identity a secret the CP did a great service for the Di Family. I've heard that CP issued the orders to spare Anle on his own. The Emperor had to accept his fiat accompli. Both were done at great risk to himself. The show does contrast rival men vying for Anle. Mingxi helped Anle directly, but he also caused great damage to the Jing Empire. He plotted to keep the CP and Anle apart, diverted forces that could have saved Anning and his intelligence agents failed to spot the Qin bodyguard. But the tension and story depends on the interaction between Anle and the CP. Made even more difficult as the CP's Family's actions had caused the Di Family and its Army to be wiped out. Mingxi doesn't have as great obstacles to overcome if the story were rewritten to make him the ML. Aand Mingxi wedding Anle would leave the two kingdoms divided and weaker. Both done at great risk to himself. Just my thoughts.
