Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs have built a roster in Spokane capable of winning the program's first ever college basketball national championship - particularly if Pepperdine transfer Michael Ajayi pulls out of the NBA draft process. Ajayi performed well at the combine and showcased a 7'0.75 wingspan, but still isn't generating a ton of NBA attention - making it likely he plays for the Zags next season.

What is Andy Patton smoking these days? Whatever it is I wouldn't mind getting some. The late Dean Smith of North Carolina didn't like recruiting players from junior college because they would enter his program with what he felt was "bad habits." The only exception Dean Smith made in recruiting a JC player was the great Bob McAdoo. Suffice it to say the players that Gonzaga has recruited via the portal are nothing close to the caliber of player Bob McAdoo was. On paper Gonzaga is a championship caliber team and that is it. Until we see how these players look on the court nobody knows how good a team they will be. The only thing that is certain is by playing in the WCC Gonzaga is at least assured of a 20 win season. Concerning the main topic today which is will Ajayi go pro or stay in Spokane. Let's look at this logically. First off Michael Ajayi is not attending Gonzaga for its education. Second the only reason Ajayi is attending Gonzaga is because of its national prominence in basketball. He feels his talents will be exposed on the national level. Thirdly, he is after the money. Now that he is a professional ,he should be evaluating the NIL money he could be making at Gonzaga versus the money he could make in the NBA. If he gets drafted in the first or second round he will go to the NBA. Steel Ventors will not be starting this year. The best that Ventors can do is come off the bench. Achilles tendon injuries take at least a good year to recover from. As crazy as this may sound Dusty Stromer will have to deal with the 'yips' another-words the "sophomore jinx" I do beleive this really exists. To sum up there are a lot of pieces that have to fall into place for Gonzaga to be considered as a serious contender for a national championship. Hey Andy I realize that a big part of your job is to promote Gonzaga athletics but do you have to make it so obvious.
