I figured Flash would want to be a part of Twilight's guards. But as of now, Twilight's castle or palace is devoid of a lot of things you'd find in one, like staff.
I think the castle would end up being decorated with stuff to make it look more natural. EDIT: Also, Batman is a wise gift giver. Cash is WAY better than a gift certificate, unless you're absolutely sure the recipient needs/wants something from that specific store.
The number of time i got gifted something useless or uninterresting... It's dickish of me to dislike presents i get, but at the same time, nobody tries to really know me...
I wish the library was still a part of the castle. The tree of harmony fused with the golden oaks library. Acombination of old friends (the library) and new friends to come (the crystal). Or at least not make it crystal as there is the land of merchandise and disappointment made entirely of crystal! Edit: also the town still needs a library! Cheerile probably gives out book reports. The curriculum doesn't change
Although I too am not a fan of Twilight's castle, the dark color scheme makes sense. The crystals handing from the ceiling and hues of purple, blue and orange-ish pink remind one of twilight (the time of day). It's a castle designed to resemble Twilight's coloring and name. In that way, the castle is a perfect fit. It looks like the stars are just coming out, sparkling in a darkening sky. However, that doesn't really excuse the fact that it looks completely out of place in Ponyville... I really hope they find a way to mend this. Maybe the town can be blown up, and everyone has to rebuild it together, and because Twilight's castle is there, they decide to go with that theme. ^^; Eh, who knows. :)
ROCOO THE MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN LION I call everybody "man". :) I'm glad you like my art! Not sure if "great talent" applies, but I will certainly take the compliment and encouragement! :D
Every time I hear about the stuffed animals, I immediately think Fluttershy stuffed some of the live animals she brought in. As a side note, I never noticed the color scheme difference between the houses of Fluttershy, Pinkie, Apple Jack, and Rarity and Rainbow before. Nice catch on that detail!
I may not be a brony but dude you are one of the greatest person, or should I say Hippogriff, on RU-vid, reviewing episodes and adding your own comedic twists to it like interacting with the characters of the show, keep up the great work ya awesome hippogriff and can't wait to see what ya dish out next
Cry The animatronic cat let me fix :) S:silly I:interesting L:loving V:vigorous(aka energetic) E:enjoyable R:random (in a good way like you said) Q:quirky U:unique I:intelligent L:lively L:lighthearted WE LOVE YOU, SILVER! STAY AWESOME!
What if Starlight finds the Castle of the Two Sisters? We know there was a dangerous spell book hidden in a secret room, what if there are more and she finds them?
Thank you for mentioning Aloe's bit there! I've been disappointed that hardly anybody else seemed to even notice her. But it was one of my favorite parts. As you said, her reaction really makes the scene work.
one thing that I hope they'll do in an episode is explore the castle. I've read stories about all kinds of hidden magic and secrets deep inside the castle. It's connected to the most powerful source of magic in equestria so there could be dark secrets somewhere like powerful artifacts or gateways to new places.
Jeremy Garcia trololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol
I enjoy the use of darker color schemes. I always like it when they show a bit of a darker side to the characters, because no character is the good guy in every situation. Even if it's as subtle as the color scheme, it's enjoyable
Aw, c'mon, no mention of the Rarity plushie Spike's got now? There has been an influx of fanart related to that coming in ever since the episode aired.
I am still saddened by the loss of the Golden Oaks Library. It was gone too suddenly and I was actually 100% shocked when they destroyed it, due to somehow avoiding spoilers. May it rest in piece
Congratulation, Quill: you managed to tick Princess Pancake off and _still_ walk away less injured than usual! Also, I think I have a way to use the Castle of the Two Sisters considering who may try to move into Gearhead's Gadgets, because that arrangement is just begging for shenanigans.
I all of a sudden just imagine the show staff talking, writing, doing VA, and animating and their reactions to their own jokes. I think those thoughts may even aid my pursuit of animation. Who knows, it's still fun to imagine.
Jon Marlow Apparently MA Larson looks over scripts for Season 5 and that might have something to do with that since he's well known as the writer who makes a lot of callbacks.
Darn it Silver Quill! I've recently been watching your videos and you have a way of putting things into perspective for me. I didn't like Starlight before, I watch your Starlight video and that 'sixth ranger' comparison has me seeing her in a different light now! The same thing here; I didn't feel anything but surprise and excitement when The Golden Oaks library got destroyed, until you mentioned 'losing a home'. I recently lost mine in a fire and now I can truly relate to Twilight in that regard. You are a deviously evil hippogriff! Keep it up!
You know what? Totally worth the wait. Your videos are great! I love the analysis aspect and the humorous highlights. You touched a few points I hadn't seen in other analysis videos and certainly did your part on research. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. Since I watched this specific episode I knew yours was going to be a must-see. What I liked: you divided the episode into castle / story, noticed that the mane five were really distressed because they wanted to demonstrate how close they are to TS, I agree with you on the portrayal of Pinkie's antics, and in that Spike is a really important character that doesn't seem to get enough recognition (the portraits). And Fluttershy, she is really going beyond her initial limitations and now we see her standing her ground (even more in the next episode). Also worth noting for excellency, your ending clip, the way you took over the old castle (kudos on that) and the Twilight moment. What I see missing is an opportunity to analyze the way Rarity manipulated Spike, she is fully aware of Spike's feelings for her, and yet she teases him even now. Well, it was a little plot convenience after all. Wonderful episode and equally wonderful review. Cheers.
Funny thing, you posted this episode on my birthday, and I also really enjoyed the episode you reviewed (Castle Sweet Castle) as well as this episode of After the Fact. It may have been a coincidence, but thanks for posting this, Silver Quill.
Gordon Massie I didn't like it either. I liked the parts with Twilight and Spike, but the mane 5 just bugged me. Though we have more episodes to look forward to this season so I'm not worried.
Missed the Band Wagon I didn't mind that too much, I just felt that the emotional moments were rushed over to make way for the mane 5's antics. But yeah it's not the end of the season yet. :)
Missed the Band Wagon I agree. This one *really* got under my skin. To me, it felt like the mane 5 were being somewhat self-centered and filling/decorating Twilight's new home (The Hall of -Justice- Friendship) for themselves rather than for her. I get that they are all supposed to be a part of Twi, but who heads over to a friend's new house with a truckload of their personal accomplishments (Rainbow's trophies), knicknacks (baloons/party cannon(s)), and ridiculous ideas (dirt? livestock? _Really?_ ) that nobody but them would _ever_ be comfortable with, or accepting of as an interior decoration? I know this was (somewhat) resolved at the end, but the fact that it even happened with friends as close as they are supposed to be is so insanely ridiculous that it honestly pissed me off... if you couldn't tell.Ugh. The good news is that it's just one episode, and I'm very willing to move on and accept (and expect) that I can't love every single one. I do have one, um, burning question about the castle: is there a certain point in the day where the sun hits the crystal just right that it produces the 'sun + magnifying glass = dead ants' effect? That could prove to be problematic considering all the super flammable cottages around...
I can see it now. Something crazy happens. Sunbutt orders some Guards to stay at Twilight's castle, and who do they hamhoof in? Flash Sentry. The horrors of a bad character. Here is hoping if they do bring him back, they actually give him character beyond " I like Twilight Sparkle " :p
OHHHHHHHH MY GOD IT JUST HIT ME LIKE A TRUCK!!! Remember how in super Mario Galaxy Rosalinda creates the beginning of her home without even realizing it so she has a place to stay but it still feels empty until she get all the Lukas and it feels more like a home? That's what this episode reminds me of! It just now hit me! The cold atmosphere, the feeling of isolation even without a friend, a giant empty space with nothing to fill it. It all adds up! I can't believe I only got it now!
Silver quill you are the most funniest hippogriff i have ever seen... technically you're the only hippogriff I've ever, but still you're on of my top 3 favorite bronies/pegasisters.
I want to thank you for still putting the effort in and making videos with your OC and all. The other pony reviewers I started following last season either have stopped reviewing MLP entirely (digibro) or have stopped making interesting videos (bronycurious, TBBBAP). It's good to see someone still carrying the torch.
I also agree with you about the castle I like where it is and it's a perfect design and a perfect color and I just love the castle every RU-vidr says they don't like the castle but I love the castle is just perfect and it goes perfect with the colors of Twilight and it's just perfect her castle is the best Castle they could have done for and it's just the best castle ever so you're lucky I'm not unsubscribing cuz I still love you long live silver quill
Wow! That remix is awesome! Anyway I enjoyed the episode as well! We definitely need to give Spike more positive attention for sure. Although his stalling was a bit unnecessary, it did allow for great comedy. Keep up the good work!
Why can't I hit the like button more than once?!Also, am I the only one who thinks Silver Quill doesn't really want the stuff he tries to get away with? He always seems to enjoy having fun at someone else's expense more than stealing anything.
Oh spike my sweet summer child :( it’s part of the reason I love reading twimommy fics, the little guy deserves all the love and care (granted the mane six aren’t malicious by any means but it’s certainly not the relationship I expected even when I started the series) not to mention how ooc he is IN HIS OWN EPISODES
Lol, some Flash love, I like! Well I already adjusted to the castle and am ready to see new adventures take place there. Also I approve of the amount of Spike love you share. As always, you did an inspiring and beautiful review. Kudos to you for all your hard work on this! ANdy
BerlinBronyANdy I could only imagine what Digibrony (sorry, is he going to frown at me because he's now a former brony reviewer?) would say had he stayed around for Season 5 reviews.
I knew you'd get a kick out of the Angel Abuse, we all did. XD Looking forward to the next one, Bloom and Gloom! Not to mention this weekend we get Tanks For the Memories! Don't miss it! KEEP GOING STRONG!!!!!!!
I really need to stop drinking when watching these videos, it can't be good for my throat to constantly be choking from laughter. Good video as always good sir.
This episode brings up the idea of making a house or abode a home. which got me thinking, what exactly makes a place a home? what makes it comfortable for most people? and the question of the day: what makes a place a home for me? unlike most I never had an overt attatchment to buildings as a "home", I just saw it as 4 walls of stone with a roof. nothing more. Now that ive matured a bit more I cant say that its changed that much and its not for lack of trying. I rattle my brain trying to figure out what makes a space or room a "home" but to no solid answer. I mean what is it? Comfort? personal effect? a style? I cant for the life of me figure it out... then again im probably looking too much into this...
You know, lots of VA's had voiced characters that argue with another character that they also voice. A prime example is Scott McNeil. I could listen to that man for ages and still be entertained by him :3
Sorry if this question have been asked many times before, but i've been inspired by this serie to make my own, just with yugioh, and i've been wondering how you made your character's ref. I'm sure it must have been alot of work. But I hope you maybe could tell me how you did it. I know it's not the same, but still. I really want to know.
Yeah that picture and this whole episode were really just one big middle finger to anyone that wants to see Spike get some proper recognition and development. Even though I liked the episode overall.
I think the darker color scheme works for the Princess of Friendship; comfort and joy should come from the people around you, not just the material comforts of life.
Redstar31 Everything I found said she's Aloe and the blue one Lotus. But since they're not terribly distinct it's hard to keep straight. Still, a snippet of characterization this episode. :)
Shoot! I was waiting for you to comment on how the HECK they got those tree roots through the front door! One advantage to having an ENORMOUS castle, I guess... Great review, though! ^^
And Discord personalized the restroom. Okay, so both Fluffle Puff and Silver Quill have got to be the two most recognizable OC's in the MLP fandom. Not just because of the character design but with content as well.
Speaking of speculation ending up in actual episodes, you can now lay claim to calling Spike getting his own room and shelves full of his own books as shown in the most recent episode.
Ryodraco In some ways I feel like that was an unspoken condition. Can't really have a new bed without the space to place it. But when he walked in carrying those folded sheets, I thought he'd just gotten new lining for his current bed. I'm so glad he's got a room of his own!
I actually really love the color scheme of Twilights castle but you're right, it does scream "evil overlord" too much (which is also a plus for me because I love that look so... yeah. I love this castle. XD)
Not much mention on the song. I really felt it was cliche. I get that a song makes a montage more enjoyable, but... it didn't. Maybe its because the song isn't that catchy or because it sounds too much like Let the Rainbow Remind You, but I now agree with people that songs are no longer special. They're just a thing.
