I feel for Tara and I'm so happy she's found shelter. My young adult son and I became homeless 10 years ago and there just weren't any options for us as I am legally blind and disabled and was afraid to be anywhere without him. We spent some awful time in the worst motels on Mclaughlin which is all we could afford with him working full time. It was a nightmare neither of us has fully recovered from. The minute you become homeless you are invisible to people and automatically considered less than. If it weren't for my incredible strong son I wouldn't be here today. I hope the rest of her family gets help too.

How can you be so ignorant have you not heard of legally blind people living regular lifestyle with some challenges. People who don’t let there disability control them are stronger then most ! There is such thing as a phone setting for blind people believe it or not I’m sure your phone has a setting just for that.

I would love to see an update with her. A lot of homeless are stuck in their mindset. Drugs and alcohol, mental health issues, not wanting to leave a boyfriend or girlfriend behind, not wanting to follow any rules or keep a job. It's not always about affordable housing, it often goes deeper then that.
@jacque1900
@jacque1900 Год назад
unfortunately you're Right& the truth they don't tell you is that housing they claim you get into> keeps you protected for 6 months? like the little house project 6months out you go& someone else on list moves in, which is Great for those that want to find a Job& work? but than you see how Apts/housing are MF unaffordable & Landlords getting rich off tenants misery How many landlords/managers Committed fraud with Emergency funding during covid? Kotex Oregon Needs to see REAL Change..How about enforcing Laws in U.S.❤

I’ve seen what some homeless people do to the free housing they are given. Many trash the place within six months. Unfortunately you can’t make them care enough to keep the place clean. They just DON’T CARE ! Make them work! Make them abide by accepted standards! If they really cared, they likely wouldn’t have gotten into the situation they’re in.- I’m sorry if this sounds insensitive. We just need a better way of dealing with the problem!! Giving them a free ride is not the answer.

I sure could use an adjustment. My boyfriend died and left me behind. There was no money for anything. There still isn't. I have two big ass dogs that keep me from some things. One of them is housing. I've been out here since June 8, 2015. 2,752 days ago. It's been a really long road. I lived on whatever I could scrounge up. It took me a couple years to get the hang of this homeless thing. 2022 has been a challenge. A lot of bad things have happened. Devistating things. Pushing sixty and tired. So tired. I knew this lady. She's pretty cool.

I’m 2 minutes in and I see so many problems. So she did time, she isnt married , she didn’t get a job. Looks like it’s her own fault. I can’t feel bad. Now she gets a free house? How about tax payers losing their house they paid for? Do they get any help? Do men get help? No. So another irresponsible woman gets a handout. I feel so bad for all the make veterans who don’t go on the news hoping to get free place.

I will say it for the 100th time. You can start at Amazon tomorrow. 18-20/hour with healthcare day one. That is enough to get a crappy apartment and get off the street. I know because I did it. You have to want to help yourself. The opportunities are out there and available. And they will literally hire anyone. You don’t even have to pee clean. You literally just have to show up on time for your shift.

It's pretty hard for people to find employment when they've been in jail You have to find services that can really help I worried about Being homeless in america because of my stress disorder I moved to a country where i'm skilled labor, and i'm only required to work twenty-five hours. If I was healthy, sure I could work three jobs in live in america. I know lots of people.They have three part time jobs I started working on the issues in my life when I was in my teenage years. I knew I had to live some more quiet and stress free as possible. My faith and christ kept me from having great difficulty. At least in regards to living in the states

I have a question. It sounded like the “help/free housing” depends on the primary organization being able to collect or involve social security. What is the situation if you don’t have a SSN? If you haven’t ever paid into or even if you’ve opted out of social security are you not eligible? Nothing is “for free” in this world. That’s a constant, someone is getting something.

How is this success? She has been out of jail for years, doesn’t have a job, hasn’t helped herself at all. Now she gets a free place to live? What about the rest of us struggling with jobs and bills that no one helps? She doesn’t help herself so tax payers get to pay? Success would’ve her earning her own place to live not off everyone else’s back. So many men dont get help, so many veterans. She went to jail for identity theft and gets a feee home. Veterans risk their lives, sacrifice and get nothing. What a crock of crap.
