"I kept running into all of these things that for my whole life I had read and experienced something so powerfully. I felt so bad because I had forgotten everything that was in the book. It just made me really sad. I remember thinking back to when I first read the Book of Mormon -- the first time I ever cried while reading it was when Nihor slew Gideon in Alma chapter one. It seems like a silly, stupid thing, but that was a special experience on my bed early in the morning before school. Just learning these stories and the faith of all the people in it is so inspiring. There are verses that you read that are especially for you. When you read them, you just can't deny them. That's what my experience was when I reread it. The Holy Spirit is testified to me on every single page of the truthfulness of the teachings, the prophecies, and the testimony that is in there. There is no way that Joseph Smith could have just written this up."

When my husband served as a bishop he would say, "we are ALL walking a tightrope, we can fall off at anytime!" Truly if we are not reading the scriptures and praying everyday, we can fall off.

Colton is a giant spirit...schooled in the household of faith. His journey is most instructive...never stop the holy habits/righteous rituals! What an amazing man and inspired to share his witness.

Yeah Colton!! You’re so wise for a young man! Great testimony!! What a great podcast this is Ashley!! I hope you keep doing it because I look forward to it! It really encourages me as I struggle with the Word of Wisdom! I realized how mean I was by saying stuff like I was so stupid as a kid or so gross as a kid. I think I need to be kind to that inner child of mine. Anyway, thank you both for this one!!

Loved this one. I’ve seen him all over, Saints in the South was the first place. For anyone struggling or just curious about church history and truth claims check out LDS Q&A, Randy is awesome in how he explains and details each topic, and he’s highly positive and spiritual, and just excited about the restored Gospel.

I love that the scripture was pointed out, "who do men say that I am?" I was listening to Sheri Dew who also made a similar observation - why would we value the words of a mere mortal when we have words of a living prophet. Or, as you said, we can know directly from God. I also read a flyer from a local church that was asking if we could historically defend Bible stories. My thoughts - while physical evidence is cool - they don't 'prove' anything; they only support what we already believe. Those spiritual confirmations of what is truth are what we need to survive the lies in this world.

It’s so important to realize what it means to exercise our faith. I always have remind myself that engaging in your favorite “gospel hobby” is NOT feeding your spirit. Only prayer, fasting, serving, scripture study, and attending the temple, taking the sacrament, and the like truly feed our spirit and draw us nearer to God.

Enjoyed the interview, I don’t always agree with Colton but he made some great points here. David Alexander on the other hand, I’ve had some run ins with him and I’m not jumping on that bandwagon.

I love this podcast it gives me hope for my boys who have left the faith, one if whom is a transgender woman now, Colten is a great example of the crap hitting the fan, that everyone has questions evryone has hard times. He reminded me that the word doesn’t have the answers, their are so msny confusing & contradictory ideals out there that we all can fall prey to. Colton was our neighbor here in Manti, he was just a bit older than my oldest, he was a great kid with a big smile. Im thankful for him sharing his story, just such a wonderful man who is going to help so many of his fellow travelers, helping them to lean to navigate through the darkness out there, to find peace .

God is the source of all truth and His Spirit confirms to our spirit what is the truth. That's why Joseph Smith said our greatest gift on earth is the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

Thank you for this episode 🙏 This is 💯 my story and am in the dark part of it. Hearing it from someone else's perspective and hearing the path forward to get back in love with the restored gospel and my Savior has provided me with so much hope. I'm sure many feel the same way but I am definitely the reason why this episode was inspired. Please keep this podcast going, you truly are doing a marvelous work!
