Wow, absolutely love this one. Had a guitar teacher, in the 70's was guitarist for a classic jazz orchestra. This reminds me of his style. Nice choice.

Well, Mr Authenticity, you've done it again! I love the whole history of jazz guitar, but '20s-'30s chord melody is my favourite style to play, and you've just delivered its quintessence on a great jazz standard. "After You've Gone" has gotten loads of play, but its chords aren't always treated in this nuanced fashion. You never miss -- thanks, Alex! ... I love my Loar 700, too.

Ah thank you so much! I was hoping you'd enjoy this one! That early swing era is magical isn't it?! 🧡 Glad you're a fan of the Liar LH700 also! The best option I've seen for that L5 vibe 👌🏻

Another excellent 5-star video! You certainly timed this right, as I was just reading Peter Spitzer's excellent "Jazz Theory Handbook" in which he has a great 13-page bar-by-bar analysis of this classic tune. It's one of the best educational studies I've ever come across and taught me a lot.

@@AlexFarranGuitar I blame Louis Armstromg with his trumpet ! not really - it was a scandalous affair involving Napoleon, Adolphe Sax and the rivalry between brass instrument producers . Adolphe produced C brass for orchestra. and Bb for mililtary. After the civil war in america - discarded miliatry horns were picked up by blues and jazz musicians in a flat key - Im sure thats the origin . If the others hadnt tried to ruin Adophe the C brass woudldhave been standard -. So because of all of this - Jazz standards were written in flat keys. O me miserum - the source of my woe. I have a solution - i tune the giutar to D standard and play in G to get an F - ( lazy) . havent sorted out Eb and Bb yet ....
