@@victoza9232 There's fast ragtime too (in spite of Scott Joplin's protestations). Check out Tom Brier sometime. The difference has more to do with form and style.
@@HighWideandHandsome Yeah, I know about Tom Brier. I got into an argument with his "handler" about Tom's fast playing. And considering that Joplin is basically the father of ragtime, what he said about tempo holds a lot of weight -- a lot more than what Brier or his handler says. Pieces may be called rags, and played fast, but at a certain point, fast rags become more like stride.
I believe to be a good transcriber, you should be a good arranger too.. In some cases the transcriber can improve the original for a variety of reasons. I always change chord voices I don't like.
