The message you implemented into this level has such a nice outlook on life, Nasgubb (at least, if I'm interpreting it correctly xd). Even though we're all individuals leading our own lives and destinies, at the same time all of us live on the same planet, the same pond. Everything we do leaves an impact, a ripple, and those impacts reach the people around us. In other words, our family, friends, acquaintances, and everyone else have crafted this current moment in time just for us. It's quite beautiful when you view life through that lens; each and every one of us as individuals shares our own contributions, and taken altogether those contributions are what make life. Thus, we should be grateful for the people we love and the fact that they make life worth living. I feel like you implemented that message into this level really eloquently too. Obviously I don't know what exactly you were thinking while making it, but here's how I see it: Path A is very imaginative. The text on your website says that it's a serene place that invites you to breathe, reflect, and explore, and you definitely achieved that feeling by making it so varied and beautiful. All of these different assets, environments, and colors coalesce into this wonderfully pretty and vibrant landscape, which to me is reflective of how beautiful and inspiring humanity's ideas are when they come together to form life. This is further reinforced by all the little players flying and jumping along with you near the end, reminding us that so many other people are living this beautiful life with us. Path B takes on a much different atmosphere. In comparison to Path A, it feels rather lonely; while it's still very pretty, it's not as lush, vibrant, or colorful, and it hinges on dangerous once the storm kicks in. I'm not as sure with this one, but it feels like it could be reflective of how difficult it is to traverse life when you're on your own, or just the fact that life is hard. Even still, though, glimmers of hope sit in the background in the form of scattered windows showing a more inviting sky, and after weathering the storm you're treated to a very peaceful and beautiful scene, much like how you were in Path A. Life goes on, and you were able to get through the thick of it. As for the "Afterlife" part of this level, the way I see it is that after we leave our impact on the world and eventually part ways with it (which, in the level, could be represented through the level completion), we don't necessarily die. We live on in the form of our legacies; the memories, lessons, and stories we imparted onto the people we once knew. In that way, life really is forever. All in all, fantastic work. There is no doubt in my mind that this will place high in the contest. Thank you for sharing this piece of art with us
I'm hesitant to share exactly how I interpret the level, since I don't want to set an "official" narrative and I very much believe every interpretation is personal, unique and not any worse than my own. I know this might be an unsatisfying answer, but just know I'm very happy you took the time to reflect and write this, these sort of discussions were front and center while forming this level. Very proud reading this! I might share my views sometime later, but for now I really want reflections like yours shine through 🙏 Thanks for sharing your perspective!
I really liked your interpretation of the level, I confess that I hadn't seen the level with those eyes, but now I managed to formulate my own interpretation. I totally agree with your interpretation of Path A, Path B I'm still formulating, but I think its ending is very beautiful, as if really after the rumble and hardness of life, If the calm and beauty of life came, I feel that this ending combines the portrait of real life with the imaginary. (I'm sorry for maybe the lack of cohesion hahahah)
@nasgubb please consider sharing! When I interpret art "my way" I often bring my own personal biases into it. Hearing others' interpretations helps me learn something about *other* peoples human experiences, which in the case of this level especially, is probably important to learn about
I may be trying to distance myself from this game, but there are still some channels I remain subscribed to. Yours is one of them. And it's for things like this. Holy fucking shit, this level is phenomenal. If this doesn't win, either this contest will produce the absolute best levels the game has ever seen or shit's rigged. Masterpiece.
despite the minimal text used in the level (with the only usage of text being at the end of Path B when the player has ascended), you've managed to tell a compelling and well thought out story while being able to use geometry dash's medium to convey it in the form of a level. the level made me think about how my actions affect others, whether temporarily or permanently, and how your actions do matter in the end. it invited me to reflect and to explore. being able to positively affect someone for any period of time is one of the greatest gifts anyone could really get, and Afterlife helped me realise that. much like the stone being dropped into the pond, the ripple affected everything in it permanently; the ripples of those close to us and around us shape us into who we are now. the stone being dropped into the pond is your actions, what we do has the chance to forever change those around us. your actions - no matter how insignificant or minute they may be - have a lasting impact on the people in your life, even if it quietly gets obscured like the ripple caused by the stone. and much like the ripple, our lives are forever. thank you for making this, nasgubb.
Sometimes I forget how S tier of a creator you are, purely because I rarely ever see levels of you. No clue if that is because you dont make many or because I just dont keep up to date. But please, keep doing what you're doing this is fucking amazing!
Hey! Did not expect another level from you! That is surprising! This is just fantastic! This might just be your new best level! These entries are just amazing! THIS BETTER MAKE IT IN THE TOP 10!
As a man who believes in mythology, i believe this is how valhalla would be, but the fact that is one of the beutiful level I've seen from you again, just amazing
truthfully amazing. as the music builds up it feels as if every aspect is culminating into an expression. the two paths in themselves is just the cherry atop the cake. One of the newer levels i can really enjoy
Masterpiece and master's piece. I feel it like a fresh breath of air. To be honest, for some reason, when watching, I felt that the author wanted to show the fate of lives, that we're all equal, there is life beyond our borders. And at the same time, awareness of yourself, your creativity and building yourself new, still referring to the old, because everything that you have done for yourself is your choice. Here, a past career may be implied as an afterlife and a forgotten life. And at the end, the past is almost not felt, but these thoughts, put together, are difficult to explain. I have to revisit this one more time, but I seem to be too dumb for that. A very good place for reflection. Thank you for this, given that every third level is an empty gray mass now.
This is extremely unique and outstanding, really different from anything you've done before and with a surprisingly higher quality. I loved the atmosphere and theming, also I like the fact that the second "mode" of the level is a whole different path. Good luck with the contest, you definitely deserve a place!
This is my favorite level with PIX for the discord gauntlet contest, but yours just got me The two paths are perfect, one that reflects the variety of imagination and the ability that we have to imagine, and another that is through the much more complex view of the previous reality by perceiving the sky or the storm in a more realistic way, gives a certain aura of hope and the diversity of life that the first part offers A very hopeful level, without a doubt it is my favorite level of you, it's something different from what you've done and I really like the parallax technique you used to make the level, congratulations for being almost in first place (which, for me you have obtained, first place in the contest)
This level has beautiful atmosphere! I love the great claming vibes of this! You did a phenomenal job and I hope you get in!!! Path B being in the background of Path A is also an amazing idea!
this is amazing!!! you never disappoint me with every level you make! i love how there's different paths you can choose from, and both paths have certain themes of what could be in afterlife :D
I'm seeing you are intending to sweep this gds cc just like you did with the last, and I wish you best of luck. This is my favorite entry out of ones I've seen thus far.
This is gotta be my favorite normal rated level, I like this because you can choose different pathways and the background layering deserves a chef's kiss, keep it up nasgubb!!! :D
You're my favorite creator, Nas. This level was totally unexpected, because I thought Apollo 11 was going to be your last one in a long while. I see a contest winner here 👀
to the people comparing this to change of scene: change of scene is phenomenal but it just doesnt have the message; a story to tell unlike this masterpiece. so yeah, this should win imo
Im so happy this got a 2nd place, but message isnt everything in a level for me. Its a one big factor for sure, but Change Of Scene has much much better visuals, gameplay and optimization. Dont get me wrong, Afterlife is so so amazing, its just that Change Of Scene completely blown me away
@@chomp_gd that's fair. We all have different tastes after all. Also I do agree that change of scene has better visuals, especially with the godlike optimization that it had done to it. Honestly, both are probably in my top 10 favourite levels in the game.
The Top 2 was always LOCKED it's just a matter of ordering them. We knew Afterlife and Change of Scene are the Top 2, which is 1 and which is 2? And it turned out that Change of Scene was 1.
Cool your back. Now can you please give us the tool or at least give us the name of the tool you used to make that Minecraft level in geometry dash from like 2 years ago.
