Good afternoon, I bought a second-hand Mercedes R280 with air suspension. After 6 years it now has 230,000 km and this year the right shock absorber has started making noise and then the left one. In two workshops that have looked at it, they conclude that it is due to the suspension because the ball joints and silent blocks are all good. I was thinking of putting in some new Arnotts (not remanufactured), the price in Spain is €750/unit. Some Mercedes OE ones are €1,400/unit. Too much money for me. I was looking under the car and I saw that the left one is an original shock absorber because it says made in the USA and it have the “original” stickers while the right one does not have any stickers and also when you put the car on the bridge that wheel hangs two centimeters more (maybe the top mount is break)and was the one that first started making noise. I suspect the previous owner changed it for a Chinese part. Disassembling them and sending them to you would be difficult because the car would have to be left resting on something and I don't have room, other than I am using it for work. I thought I read that you only fix originals... So, what other aftermarkets manufacturers can you recommend, apart from Arnott, who work in Europe? Thank you very much from Spain.
