Aftermarket Corbeau Seats In My C5 Z06 Corvette Install - Soo Much Better!!

We install Corbeau A4 Black Suede seats in my 2002 Chevrolet Covette Z06 (C5) to replace the terrible stock seats. My Corvette had C6 Z06 seats installed which were better than the C5 seats, but they did not provide bolstering to go autocrossing and do track time with. I daily drive my Corvette and wanted a seat that would suit my needs.

Install was super easy and took less than an hour - I bought 2 Corbeau A4 seats and 2 seat brackets. To the seats I had added: shaved base (for better headroom in a Corvette and more room for a helmet), 5 point harness slots (submarine slot), and lumbar support for the driver side seat. I did not go with heated seats, but can always add them myself in the future if needed.
These bucket seats have the support i need to drive spiritedly, but also easy enough to get in and out of for daily driving based on my initial review. Seat choices are limited in Corvettes due to the limited room in the car - these seats were a perfect fit and make the car 100% more enjoyable - this is definitely a performance mod.

"Seat bolster" mod is what I did on my C5 Z06 and it made a world of difference, and saving hundreds of dollars on new seats!

how to know what seat is perfect for you: -make sure the shoulder holes (where the seatbelts should come through if you have them) are at equal length with your shoulders (for safety) -look at the seat's width to make sure it's good for you -(recommendation) if you want to scare the shit out of your friends, measure their torso length and width and customize the seat to that. If there are multiple people that you drive in your car, do the measurements for all of the people, add them up, (make sure to separate the length and the width for this) and divide by how many people you are measuring and you should get the width and length. -and last, you measure your center console to your door to ensure you have enough room to place the seats in hope this helped anyone

One thing I like about my C4 is I used to switched the seats every 5 years passenger on the driver side drivers on the passenger side works every time I don't know if my C5 will do that. Let me know good time had a stroke so I can't do it

So the bolt by the seat belt with the tab. Did you take the part with the tab off and use a new normal washer?

I do have a question on this install. I also have a 2002 C5 Corvette Convertible (not Z06) but on my driver seat I have 2 separate electrical connectors. I see yours only had one. Do you know what the second one might be for or what maybe won't work if not plugged in? FYI, the passenger seat only has the one connection. Thanks

What a difference, the suede looks better than the leather! Are you considering putting in a harness at some point? I know you were saying that you also opted to get that center hole on the bottom.

GT, take a look out there for the purpose made console and dash bezel made for running double din in a C5 corvette. Looks like you have cut factory bezel?

@@Garagetopics I went with the Vettenuts bezel and have nothing but good things to say about it. It looks very factory appearing. Been thinking about doing a video on the bezel as well. The Metra unit is a good bit cheaper but doesn't look quite as factory. I can't wait to see what you are up to. :)

Hey quick question did you have to put the passenger seat on the driver bracket to put it in the drivers side or do you just put the passenger seat on the passenger seat bracket and put it in the drivers side?

Brackets stay they same for the side, just the seat swaps. Driver side bracket bolted to the passenger seat to goes on the drivers side

Yep stock seat belts work perfectly with these seats, no modifications needed. The C5 Corvettes plug for the seatbelt is backwards - when its unplugged it registers as seatbelt on haha

For both seats both brackets and the extras I added to the seat, torsl including shipping was around $1300. You can get this whole setup for around $1k as well. Still cheaper than 1 recaro seat haha

If you have a c5, you do not need the original seat belts at all, no warning signs or anything bad

If you do not go with the shaved base and just take the seats as they are, I think it would be good for almost anyone lower than 6 foot

@@Garagetopics 1 other question for you if you don't mind, with the stock seats I often find my head rubbing up against the ceiling of the car, would you recommend I get the version of the seat with the shaved base, or is the seat low enough itself that it shouldn't be a problem? I don't take it to the track so I don't wear a helmet and I'm 6'3"

I have a shaved base in mine, in addition to 7 or so washers on the front mounting bolts between the frame and the seat base. This tilts my legs back and further down into to the seat

That's the best question yet! Yeah, if I can't get them without their logo, I'm not spending that kind of money to also advertise them. Plus having to reverse the seats so that the seat back handles for both seats are between the seat and console suck. You better have the seat backs adjusted to wear you want them before the install because unless you've got really small hands, you won't be doing and adjusting on the spur of the moment.

My hands fit, but it was tight! I've seen people drill a hole in that handle and add a Keychain grab handle for easier access. That corvette is now Donnie at the drift factory and only has the passenger seat installed

This video is a few years old, realize this comment is on an old video but seems like these aftermarket seat companies aren’t making their products any different now than they did back then. Complete junk if you ask me. I say that because they’re making no effort to make seats fit the way they should for corvette owners. You shouldn’t have to put the passenger seat on the driver side and vise versus. Make them fit without bull shit changes in design on the fly. But people keep buying them so why should they 🤷‍♂️
