Comparing an unbranded Chinese-made roof rack against an OEM Tesla Model 3 Roof Rack System. Also updated the Model 3 with a Frontrunner Slimline II cargo system.
When focusing on pricing alone I'm reminded of my favourite adage "Poor man pays twice", I think your video illustrates this perfectly, greetings from Melbourne, Oz
Good video comparison - you get what you pay for in this instance. Curious what you've noticed with wind noise and range loss with just the racks alone (without the Front Runner).
Great Video and very informative. I’m about to buy one from Amazon and after watching your video, I will wait until Tesla restock their inventory. It’s out of stock at the moment.
I just ordered the one from Amazon so I will open it when I get it to see if it is as bad as the aftermarket one here. He did not specify where he purchased this one which would have helped.
The weight was similar between the two, although the build quality was noticeably worse on the aftermarket racks. Rough edges on the base, paired with the lack of a locking mechanism, made me doubt the long term usability. I’d recommend going with OEM and having a quality crossbar set. The aftermarket ones may save you half the cost, but I wouldn’t trust it to align properly with the integrated attachment points under the glass roof.
In Spanish we say lo barato sale caro... In English.. let's spend 50k on a car that's amazing and buy cheap shit. For it ...don't do that to your Tesla...
