Oldschoolmtg never signed any sort of NDA, and it's a well established precedent that if someone sends you something by mistake, it's yours to do what you like with. It's not even a copyright violation; taking pictures of objects you legally own is not covered by copyright. Why do you think they never issued a DMCA strike on his video?

Fair warning on inkmoth+jolrael, activate inkmoth first and then give it the jolrael buff. If you activate inkmoth second, it will rewrite the X/X with 1/1.

Correction: Rachel said Narset and Nashi cast copies from the graveyard, but they actually cast from exile. Her comments on creating tokens still apply, but the distinction is important because a card like Grafdigger’s Cage will not stop these from being cast.

With arni metal brown and bloodthirster it's good to know that if you put bloodthirster into play tapped and attacking a player it doesn't count as it having attacked that player, so it can attack that player again on an extra combat.

Not a fan of the cost for 5 cards, when other TCGs do this these types of packs are usually around $2.00 I feel this set is dangerous and if it does well we'll see less cards for our money. So lowkey hoping this set fails bad.

I kinda see Murloc Masher’s point. Commons are essentially only there for limited and don’t add any true value to a pack. It’s a weird way to think of it, but it’s true. As long as the cards are all designed at Uncommon+ power level, it’s not as crazy as it looks.

I think Nahiri's resolve would work great in an Osgir list; there's a bunch of awesome creatures/artifacts that you could blink: Goblin Engineer, Solemn Simulacrum, Angel of the Ruins, Sculpting Steel if you want to change what its a copy of, Coveted Jewel, or even Portal to Phyrexia. You can also protect your better artifacts you're worried about blowing up, that you still need cards to finish your combos off with - like Aetherflux Reservoir, Blasting Station, and Mystic Forge.

I don't think Jolrael works with Inkmoth nexus unfortunately. Jolrael turns the land into an X/X creature. It doesn't give it +X/+X, so when you activate inkmoth, it turns into a 1/1

If you play Jolrael, do not use Inkmoth Nexus the way Rachel and Craig said. It doesn't work. If you activate it before combat, it should keep its infect, but if you do it after Jolrael's trigger resolves, you'll overwrite the power and toughness to 1/1.

For Danitha, the card Mantle of the Ancients is insane. You can play her and then just automatically get all auras from your graveyard that you want back and attached to her. Then when she and the huge stack are defeated, play her and it again... and you are right back. Throw in the 'rarely' used equipment like lightning greaves or swiftfoot boots for haste and not being targeted... she is pretty unstoppable.

It needs to be in at least a 4 color deck, but Ob Nixilis goes infinite with Shelai and Halar as soon as you either deal 1 damage or add one counter. Pretty fun!

This was my first thought and i can't believe more people aren't talking about it. You just need to deal 1 damage once and then you just take the table out. And if for any reason you need to stop the loop (unlikely) you just target a creature.

On Narset and Nashi, also noteworthy: For rule purposes, a castable copy of an object is create in and casted from the zone the original object is at the moment the copy is created (in case it doesn't exist in-game is from outside the game, like Garth), in this case being exile and not the graveyard. This mean it not only works with abilities caring for spells cast from anywhere other than your hand, but also ones cast from exile.

Nahiri's Resolve isn't just great for blinking in RW, it's also great for protecting your stuff from sorcery speed removal such as most board wipes. Narset lets you exile and copy spells from _any_ graveyard, not just your own. Nashi secret tech: Ashes of the Fallen. Turn all the creatures in your grave into Rats. (same with Maskwood Nexus, Arcane Adaptation, and Conspiracy) Tazri is going right into my 5c Sisay Legend tribal deck. She's a Legend that makes all my other Legends into mana dorks that can help activate Sisay more. Plargg and Nassari are going in my Evelyn StealYourDeck, since that's exactly what they're doing. Sigarda is a perfect Angel tribal commander. I've long been using Shalai as my commander because adding G just gives so much ramp, card draw, and other utility that they sorely need. Giada is neat, but IMO a bad commander for the deck since she's just a mana dork and doesn't actually ramp or draw or do anything else impactful. (plus, with G, I get to run a pet favorite secret deck tech in Bower Passage - making all my Angels only blockable by creatures with exactly Reach) I still really want a proper WBR Angel tribal commander though. (no Kaalia doesn't count) Royal Funeral is also going in Sisay.

When I see Nahiris resolve, I think of Reveilark (and vesperlark). It activates when it leaves the battlefield. Also Karmic Guide wants to go in the same deck. You would get that etb every turn, and you would never care about the echo. Skyclave apparition is a version of o-ring that actually does something when you blink it. Still feels to expensive in an agressive deck. I think the best card to combo with is Reckless fireweaver.

This was not mentioned but for Ob Nixilis there is the new card All Will Be One. Every time a counter is put on a permanent or player, All Will Be One deals that much damage to target opponent, creature or planeswalker. AKA ping one damage and go infinite from there, well infinite as long as you have a deck.

So I have a bit of a rules question, at 1:33:50 our hosts say that Jolrael targets inkmoth nexus making it an 8/8 bird with flying and haste and after attacking with said Inkbird nexus they would activate inkbird's ability, effectively giving it infect. But from what I currently understand as I read this card the inkmoths ability would actually turn it into a 1/1 regardless of what power and toughness it had previously. Am I correct in this assumption or is there a reason the inkmoth would keep its previous power?

@@20x20 bludgeon brawl on it's own doesn't do anything with food tokens, however combined with thran power suit (the other card I mentioned) it would add +1/+1 to the creature for each food token you equipped (which would cost zero to equip).

I don't think Jolrael - inkmoth nexus works the way you described it... both cards say "becomes" so you have to choose between the small guy with infect or the big guy without it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You're 100% right. I think it might work if you activate it before Jolrael's trigger resolves, but if you activate it after the trigger resolves, it overwrites the power and toughness to 1/1.

The way this works is up to the layer system, but basically, power/toughness changes and ability gains are tracked separately. The infect is an ability gained, and that will apply regardless. However, the power/toughness changes apply in the same layer and overwrite each other, so the rules say they happen "in timestamp order" - in layman's terms, the last one to be activated wins.

The discount doesn't get multiplied because the ability only refers to cards exiled with that permanent. (It's different from abilities that exile cards with a counter and then check for the counters - the ones that are written that way are designed to count previous instances.) The blink will reset the discount.

So with nahiri's resolve there are equipments that auto equip on etb as well and i believe sigarda's aid would cause them all to auto equip on etb. If you lost creatures you can use that to re-equip them for free. Plus keeps things like swords of and reaver cleaver safe on other peoples turns

i practically built activated ability tribal with kennrith so i'm basically making adjustments and switching to tazri oh and heres a very important note on tazri's mill ability there's a loophole to hit mana ability creatures and that's if they have another ability that isn't a mana tazri will see that so... Incubation druid Devoted Druid Skull prophet Gilded goose Joraga Treespeaker Shaman of Forgotten Way Grand Architect Llanowar Loamspeaker Cryptic Trilobite Ulvenwald Captive Magus of the Library are all hits, and "Shaman of forgotten way" is particularly good because the amount of creatures is likely gonna be similar to animar decks have. Also the trilobite mana can only be used for abilities and it can recharged like hangarback walker second note tazri's first ability is looking for another activated ability it doesn't say anything about it can't be a mana ability so the mana dude that have restricted mana (like "only to cast creature spells") can now tap for activated abilities of creatures

Nahiri's resolve is interesting with Winota. you are attacking with your stuff and its all tapped down anyway, why not blink it out to save it from removal? I'm totally putting that in Winota. I prefer Rat colony over relentless rats because rat colony counts all rats, not just themselves. Obosh doesn't work with Ob Nixilis. If you double the damage, Ob Nixilis won't trigger because of how replacement effects work

Leyline immersion seems kind of nuts, basically says enchant commander and is not only free the first turn but nets you a mana and then every turn after that gives you five extra mana and gives ward 2

regarding nahiri's resolve i don't think it will trigger any creature or artifact that has an abiltiy that resolve during the beginning of upkeep like the orrery.

That's correct. If an effect puts a permanent onto the battlefield during some phase or step (including at the beginning of it), any activated abilities it has that trigger at the beginning of that same phase/step won't have a chance to trigger.

You skipped a step; the recursion is n+2^n, so you get 1, 3, 11, 2059, 2059+2^2059, etc. :P

I think you're getting nashi and narset a little wrong: you're casting from exile, not the graveyard, which matters to things like prosper and faldorn - which are off-colour, but all the synergy there applies to these

Ob Nix is probably the most interesting card in the set, but nearly all the cards in there really feel like just another option that we already have a version of. Not a lot that i'm excited about, didn't hear you mention deification which might improve superfriends somewhat and make teferi tribal a real thing.

@@maxbodifee3263 i get that, but especially for this set it really feels like another lands commander, another equipment commander, etc. I don't necessarily think more options is bad but they are reallt jamming more stuff into existing archetypes, would be nice to see something that's not just the new 8th best at what it does.
