Hey buddy, you may want to go back into your video and edit your address out of it, you don't want looters to see this and make your home an easy target. Best of luck to you, we are all praying for you.
This is my parent's neighborhood, trust me when I say looters we're kept out. We had military and national guard at the entrances. You had to show proof of residency to get in. Boats had to register offsite beforehand to get in.
Lisa Luna That's good but unfortunately military & national guard isn't gonna be there the entire time. Do freaking sad they gotta go through this & pathetic a** ppl are out looting the few things that might still work. Karma is a bitch. I am praying for you all, can't even imagine
No but there are enough residents on the dry side looking out for looters running them off. About 90% of the houses are mucked anyway and there's nothing to loot, just a bunch of garbage that's already being picked up by the county and gutted out, empty houses.
Mandy Holmbeck also, it's not like Michael is "outing" our neighborhood or his house. My parent's street was on abc World News, and the local news was in there with camera crews. People in Houston knew which areas were flooded and which weren't. You notice looting hasn't been a big problem for our city. Who wants to loot a bunch of stuff that sat in water for a week? Nothing is usable or any good. People had to throw their entire houses away.
His house is 3+feet underwater and he goes in and turns the power on... I'm not an electrician but at the very least isn't he destroying all the circuits shorted by the outlets underwater and potentialky electrocuting himself?
Nah there are breakers and as soon as they get to a certain long the breaker will switch immediately shutting of power for the room that was detected when it shuts down there is no power this prevents a fire, damage, shorting out and electrocution and many more
The outlets are already underwater, so turning on the lights isnt gonna do anything, Beside that type of water is mostly gonna be an insulator, no electricity will hardly be able to pass through it
@@Hiddenpower6 Flood water won't pass enough current to trip breakers or blow fuses, but WILL pass enough current to give a severe or fatal electric shock.
@@ShootLuckGaming Wrong!! Very wrong. PURE water, with no minerals or contamination is pretty non-conductive, BUT even tap water will conduct electricity well. Flood water is so loaded with contaminants that it will conduct almost as well as a bare wire. The only thing that saved this guy in the video was the rubber waders, and distance from the walls where the submerged outlets are. You are right that turning on the lights, which are above the water level, is not an issue. Retired master electrician , 40 years.
also florida has no basements at all either as far as I know, You can find aquifers right under the soil sometimes, These aquifers also cause sinkholes when they collapse.
Water over the outlets, appliances, lamps etc. energizes the water. You my friend are extremely lucky you didn't get electrocuted. In the future make sure the power is off to whatever property you go in. 40+ years as a fireman I've seen more than I care to remember of bad shit happening to people. Stay safe always.
"I'm way deep. Wheres the curb? There's got to be a curb around here somewhere. There's a pole for crying out loud. Wheres the curb? Oop! There it is. Found it." For some reason this made me laugh 😂
The funny thing is, when hurricane harvey hit, i was living in a place that was located on the outskirts of it. My brother, my friend, and i literally played outside during it and i realize how lucky i was.
The worst thing about this is, is losing photos you had, history, never be able to get those back. Either way, great to know your alright, and hope you get a new place soon.
spatel2857- The electrical wires are inside the wall, and anyways if he tried using the outlets on the wall there is a breaker that breaks out the electrical current in that outlet.
Swess2908 - I know my comment is almost a yr later. I seriously feel for all there but I am still cringing over turning on light switches and one above i assume doesn't get most electrical sockets are not gfci protected and sheesh maybe they should check just because they are *in the walls* smh doesn't stop water from entering into..... face plates are not waterproof..... I know a total rant but I just can't with some ppl smh
I understand it may seem like I was at risk. But remember, we are dealing with 110v not 220v. Also, my electrical runs are all grounded. Electricity looks for the path of least resistance. Also there is too much water for the electricity to be dangers at that distance. I would have to stick my hand an inch or less near an outlet to even feel the current. Lastly. Notice that I’m wearing think rubber waiters and boots. I’m completely isolated from the ground. If I was barefoot we could be more concerned, but even then you would have to stick your hands in the outlet to feel a shock. Yes, safety protocols are to never even risk it and turn all electricity off. But I do understand electricity and I know the runs of my house. Here’s a link that explains it simply. There are better videos on RU-vid. But this guy speaks in layman terms. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dcrY59nGxBg.html Have a great day and thanks for watching!
I'm watching you do this and I'm trying not to panic. You don't know what's in the water... you have zero people around and are getting deeper and deeper. You can't hear ANYTHING except for deserted cars and what sounds like rushing water.... unbelievable.
Your video is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for everyone having to go through this. The road to normal is going to be long and challenging, I'm sure. Thank you for putting a human face, first person perspective on this for those of us far removed. My heart is with you all.
Thank you for showing all of us the flooding from a very personal place. Your video has shown more of the true reality and devastation than any news channel has or could. I commend you for maintaining your level of sanity through your filming. My heart goes out to you and everyone else who has been affected by this truly horrible event. Bless you, sir.
Oh my gosh. I am sure glad the live electricity plus water in your house did not zap you. Now I can breathe again. I am praying for all of you,, all of us. Thanks for your video. Be safe.
Actually when homes flood like this none of it is fine. My friend's parents' house was flooded like this and they had to remove all of the downstairs carpet and sheet rock. The downstairs looked like a skeleton.
I'm late but this video is super important. I've never seen such a real reaction. Your explanation of how the experience felt surreal was spot on. I can't even imagine seeing my house under three-plus feet of water. Seeing my whole neighbourhood submerged. Watching my community being boated out of their homes. Videos like this are good. It takes away the media drama, the cash grabs, and it shows human emotion. It shows how we as a species react to our own being put in danger. You are right when you say that no matter how much we bicker and fight when it comes to disaster we will be there to pick each other up.
Clicked on your video because my brother & sister-in-law were living in the Houston area when Harvey hit. The only saving grace for them is that they knew that they were both going to retire within the next year....give or take. So in May or June they put their house on the market (in League City) not knowing just how long it may take to sell. As very good luck would have it they sold their house in less than a week for cash!!!! So they moved into a high rise apartment bldg in downtown Houston on the 6th floor. So they were very very fortunate to have sold when they did and didn’t suffer the devastation that you and so many many others die. Prayers to you and everyone in the Houston area.
Thank you for posting all your flood videos. I'm so sorry for your loss. That is devastating to lose so much. I lived around the corner at Bridgewalk Cove and Bryant Pond for 7 years and moved away 8 months ago.
So nice to see neighbors being friendly and helpful....in this situation, there is no color, status level, or animosity.......just good people willing to reach out to other human beings and help 😔
Wow dude! Im so sorry you all are having to live through this. Praying it has receded since this video was posted. Send Love and Light you way from Canada.
I have never seen another video of yours but I can't help but just watch this and get glassy eyed ... I understand the heartbreak and sadness of it being destroyed by something out of your control, but in the end it is just materials and things. You and your family are safe and that is truly what matters, life is precious but we can and will rebuild. I will keep you in my thoughts man. - from OH
XanderCreates PURE water is not a good conductor, true. BUT any minerals or contaminates WILL make water a very good or excellent conductor. Flood water is very impure and a good conductor of electricity.
So damn sad. I won't complain about doing the laundry or taking out the trash and all the normal things I do. I'll be thankful I still have a home and creature comforts. I like how those folks going by asked if you needed help. I'm still searching for the Cajun Navy. None of the live streams I watched mentioned them. They saved 10,000 souls from Katrina and I didn't know that until a week ago. Be well and good luck Michael. Ambriel, Northeast NJ
I watched these vids when they went 'live'. Glad to know you came out okay. Curious on how blue ribbon has been.... would love to get together on something
Just watching this video is eerie and I've never lived anything like this! I'm incredibly thankful for where I live, we rarely get any natural disasters
Is it bad that I feel like a horrible person because I'm just sitting here in Australia and I can't do anything to help even though I really want to help and I just wish that everything will be okay for everybody who was living here and I wish them well
Seeing your video really opened my eyes because the news doesn't show a whole lot. It was heartbreaking seeing your home under water & I even caught myself tearing up. I really feel for everyone who experienced this disaster and will continue to keep you & the others in my prayers 💓
My guy. I'm a firefighter/medic that was working during Harvey. We started in Houston on the north side of beltway 8, then went down to the league city area, and from there over to the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. Glad to see you're ok and that you made it through this.
Thanks for making this man - so enjoyable compared to TWCs constant yelling. Sorry that happened. I forgot what joke you told at the door but it was funny.
SICKFREDO honestly I was surprised he still had lights, I was afraid when he flipped the one light switch thinking something was going to go wrong thankfully it didn't
I prayed for all of you, after having worked for Victims of Katrina and Ike the worst hurricanes i had seen after living in Houston, TX for 16 years. I left to take care of my aged parents. Now only my ex and son lives in houston, tx
I hope you don't mind if I share. I actually didn't quite understand the impact of this in a personal way. I'm so sorry for your loss and yes you have your life but this is a tragedy and we that are not close to it need to understand the debth of it. Thank you. You are a very talented young man.
I couldnt imagine how that must feel. We just hear floods or storms etc but when you actually video it it makes you feel reality. Seeing the water taking over everyones hard ern stuff it even more sad nothing you can do to stop mother nature.God bless America from Australia 🗺
It's so hard to look at your home and not mourn the loss, but it's only 'stuff'!! Thank God you are alive, able to walk through, see the damage, and walk away. I can't imagine what you are feeling. :(
Victoria Smith Seriously? He had his home completely flooded. It was dark. He needed to see what he was doing so he could move things and save them. Yes it's dangerous, but everything down there is ruined. He's definitely not the only one with his lights on in that area. It cant get much worse for them
That's understandable. I'm definitely not saying it's not, but I don't fault him for turning on his lights. And like the other guy said, he wasn't thinking clearly. A lot was going on for him
Michael, I am sorry this has happened to you and everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey. Thank goodness your studio is dry. Praying from here forward it will stay dry. I watched a video you previously posted and glad this one showed up today. I want you to know that even though Hurricane Irma's live coverage took attention from Harvey, I haven't stopped thinking and praying for you and the people all around and in Houston for safety and peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you for sharing. I commend you on your hope, love, concern for others, positive and well thought out steps before your actions will move you through this hard and devastating time. I live in central MA and heard your Governor say, 'it would be like a hurricane hitting New York and Boston flooding', opened my eyes to see and mind to know how unprepared my family and I are should this happen. Truth be told, it's time to plan. God Bless You and all.
Him: "they were out for 24 hours" Me: "I was out for 5 days safeing people :>" Him: "sureeeeeeeee" Me: "Your dumb don't u need a boat from penny wise?"
It's 12:41 am here and I'm watching this video. When you mentioned the dude with the boat I quietly went "LET ME BORROW YOUR BOAT!!!" I'd honestly go kayaking in there like that one guy was. I'm gonna have to buy me a kayak for whenever a flood happens. I can easily get around
Hey man ur washer should be ok because u saw the light was flashing most of the computer chips are at the top of the washer and the bottom tends to have water proofing
Wow what an amazing look into the reality of flooding. I'm truly sorry for the loss of your home, I thank you for risking your safety to record this. You're going to be alright and bounce back from this. God bless brotha
I'm so sorry you went through this. My heart is breaking for you and everyone that lost their house. I'm a survivor of hurricane Irma, I just got back today from Alabama on my own. It makes me look at life in a different perspective as well. Prayers for you and all that is going through this😇
Thank you for helping us rebuild Kim ❤️❤️My parents live here and it was my childhood house. We appreciate every one of our volunteer muckers more than you know. We're going to get CCB back to the way it was before!
And I was with the local group Houston Area Offroad Recovery helping out with the relief. That jacked up blue Silverado was with the group helping out. Saw them going southbound as I was going northbound headed to refuel
