Good afternoon I've only owned new holland . Never tried john deere. I bought a new 450 silage baler new holland in 2016 paid $48000 . I want to buy a new one trade it in but a new baler is $125000 for a 2023 baler. So I'm keeping mine never had one problem with it .

I think a Silage special would be worth it. Built a little heavier than the regular models. $125,000 is crazy for a baler unless you have a massive herd!😬 I will definetly look into the New Holland balers but gonna be used for sure!

Guy in Gladstone that parts out John Deere balers Gerald wall any parts you need he will have. As well he sells John Deere balers I picked up a 568 from him and that thing just eats hay and straw. But a 605sm or 605n vermeer seems to be a great baler as well just really heavy not good for low areas.

Hey that's ok!!! I was 100 bales in this year and my drive roller did the exact same thing. Could of been the heavy silage bales but the dam thing is made for it so who knows. After I changed that bastard out she worked flawless. 3500$ later and we gave er the onion lol

My go to baler right now is my 8480 soft core baler. Bugger never breaks down hardly it seems. Lol. Think I’m gonna try a hardcore Vermeer next. Have some neighbors that really like them. We will see though. $90 000 for a brand new baler though. This soft core cost me $6000 and probably hadn’t done 5000 bales in its life, plus I have three for parts that we wore out. Already put 6000 bales through that soft core since I bought it two years ago. Hard to justify $90 000 to put up hay for 200ish pairs. But I’m pretty anti new at the moment. Most of my new haying equipment breaks down from new and comes with payments on junk. My second string used stuff did 75 % of my haying this year.
@jeremycherny2041
@jeremycherny2041 Год назад
90k for a baler? My goodness 😳. Need alot of calves to pay for that and like you say in 5 years it's junk. Better off with a 10000 baler, rebearing it and put new belts. Giver again.
@chadtosh6831
@chadtosh6831 Год назад
@@jeremycherny2041 that’s the quote I was given two months ago with a 15 day guarantee on the price. Suspect they are higher now. If it wasn’t ordered by the beginning of this month, they couldn’t guarantee delivery by end of June either. That was on a Deere.
@PrairieSunsetRanch
@PrairieSunsetRanch Год назад
I Heard they got a special on those balers this week, they use actually Gold sprinkled net wrap on the bales. $97,000 and it could be yours. Now that's a bargain 😬🤦‍♂️😱🤣🤣

Ive heard of a few guys that like those soft core balers. I think John Deere quality is slowly going down hill and prices rising even with the use of cheaper materials, parts, Chinese bearings etc.🤬

No kidding eh. I would like to get my hand on a Low hour JD 6420 or something similar. I really am not a huge fan of all that emissions garbage and overly complex Sensors and electrical systems. Even with that said the 6420 probably has a ton more of electronics than my 6400 or 6110. 😱

My 2 cents, ran New Holland 688 for years , had no issues, but they are now worn out to, so tried a 4580 kubota 5x6 with mesh, 25 grand cheaper than any other competition and double the warranty , got 3 thousand bales on it and no issues yet, making 1400 to 1600 lbs bales👌
@chadtosh6831
@chadtosh6831 Год назад
That’s interesting to hear. Nobody around me has bought one yet, they still seem to be buying the Vermeers or john Deere. Very few around here run new hollands after they got burned on those br780s. Used to be a whack of 688s in this area 20 some years ago.
@PrairieSunsetRanch
@PrairieSunsetRanch Год назад
Interesting Wilf 🤔. Don't really know of anyone out here running Kubota balers but their equipment is definitely becoming more popular as a lot of different colours are pricing themselves out of the average farmers budget. I will look at a baler like that you never know 👍🏻. How are they to work on? Does it look fairly accessible for basic maintenance or bearing replacements?
@wilfharder3857
@wilfharder3857 Год назад
Maintenance is pretty good. There are 8 grease nipples on the block on each side for greasing. The best part of the machine that I like, is the 100 series roller chain that drives the belts. I also like that it has 3 preset density settings for bale tension.
