It is sort of both as both of them release special noises to bounce off of objects and find stuff in the dark. But they can also have special noises that help them locate each other.

Alright, this opinion was not needed but I will tell you why they are “furries” In hell, (atleast this universe) when you die and go there you will take a form that has inspiration from their life.
