“Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power” is the title of the fifth episode of Agatha All Along and…gotta say…pretty fitting considering this episode’s ending which sees our favorite Teen having a sleeping power awoken within him as the coven enters their darkest hour. And I already KNOW y’all are itchin’ for me to talk about that crazy ending so let’s go ahead and dive into that first and then I’ll back that ass up and circle it back to the beginning, yeah?
After the super sad and unfortunate death of Alice Wu Gulliver at the hands of a power hungry Agatha Harkness, the gang emerge onto the Fourth Area of the Witches…a road themed around the color Yellow this time around…which kinda makes me believe that the next episode’s trial is going to be centered around Lilia considering that that, for the most part, the colors of each area of the Witches’ Road seems to correspond with the color each Witch is most associated with. Episode 4 was themed Red after Alice Wu Gulliver’s hair and Red Generational Curse Demon after all…and this fifth Episode’s area was centered around Agatha…who typically wears Purple and wields incredibly absorptive Purple Magic.

I don't think Death can kill anyone... She can only collect bodies or hurt people enough that they "wish they were dead". I think Rio is so in love with Agatha, she wants her dead so she can keep her in her realm with her forever, so she encourages other people to kill Agatha. I think if Agatha were killed by a ghost, Agatha would be in a ghost realm, and thus, lost to Rio, which is why she didn't want to leave Agatha to her mother.

Or that the broom she created looks like a scythe ..? Or her giggle when the Ouija rules say not to speak about Death. Or after Alice died Rio is sadly staring a Agatha and knows Agatha didn’t mean to kill her, and yes I think Rio was collecting Alice, but I think “Rio” has been collecting the dead witches that Agatha accidentally killed on the road and can restore them bc she is removing them from the road and instead of the afterlife, they are probably in some kind of limbo. Rio maybe Death, but Death isn’t inherently evil. She took Agathas son, maybe he’s also waiting in limbo and Agatha will get him back at the end of the road bc that’s what she really wants at the end of the road. Not magic or power, the thing Agatha is missing is her son.

@ninicast7570 in modern paganism, the Earth element is often associated eith life but also death, as a natural part of nature's cycles. Like how plants are fed on the decomposing remains of formerly living things etc - different sides of thr same coin. So imo the green witch being death makes a LOT of sense to me.

As cheeky as it was, I actually really liked the Billy Kaplan/Maximoff reveal happening with a Billie Eilish song about a crown. It's this type of seasonal cheese that makes this Halloween season feel so special, in my opinion. I will admit I was what kind of a doubter before this show came out, but now this show has completely won me over. Looking forward to the next 4 episodes!

I think Nicholas Scratch was a kid, and he accidentally zapped his mom with his powers, and she killed him. It seems that this episode showed Agatha has no control over taking powers from others. I think this ability of hers is an automatic self-defense. This is what led to her mother getting coven to try take her down, but same happened to her. And Agatha trapped by her ability just became the person she was always gonna be seen as cause no one listens when she saus she didn't mean to. We see them back together in clips, and its Agatha with Billie. I think they'll end up finally listening and realizing truth about Agatha. And i think this blood moon trial was Billie's (Teens). Cause this wasn't a phase of moon and more an extra bit like him.

I don't think that Billy is being possessed by Wanda, but there is something, because how did he break Agatha out of Wanda's magic. Hard to break a dead man's curse per Dr. Strange. I also think Billy had his magic the whole time and was just acting inexperienced. I want the show to focus on Agatha, but I love Wanda so I am not mad. The crown gave me goosebumps.

Agree and I think he put the sigil on himself. Why else point out that the witch who cast it wouldn't remember doing it? It was probably "no longer needed" when Agatha figured it out herself. If he is possessed by anything I think it is this trial. All of them seem meaner and more aggressive. Jen wants to punish Agatha. Agatha is telling him he's like Wanda and calling him pet. It might be Evanora's influence. I'm not sure. They both have mommy issues.

Don't forget that Wiccan had his own stone statue at Mount Wundagore in Multiverse of Madness. He is a prophecized, God-tier witch, just like Mother! He's a BIG DEAL.

Not acting "inexperienced," but powerless. He still has decent knowledge of witchcraft. Even so, there are gaps in his knowledge that the older, wiser witches could fill. Maybe beyond the wish fulfillment one gets from completing the Road, he is relishing the opportunity to learn.

@@MainRapperACEsahiWanda didn’t place the sigil. Wiccan placed it on himself for protection. He knew he was a witch and hid his abilities until Agatha figured out who he truly is and that’s what snapped Billy out of it. You can see a very Wanda like anger in “Teen” once the sigil is lifted and he reveals himself. I think he made a bargain with Death that he would feed her witches if she brought back his mother.

Agatha realized that Billy wasn’t her son when he was able to say his name. If Agatha can hear it, it’s not his name. That’s the moment she realized teen truly isn’t her son Nicholas.

I didn't expect Agatha to get her own trial this soon, I thought that her trial was going to be the final one. This episode destroyed most of my theory that Nicholas Scratch being the main antagonist of this series since he still sounds like a boy when briefly mentioned, and that he isn't the father of the Salem Seven in the MCU. I'm upset that Alice was killed off after all that development with getting past her trauma in the last episode, but we'll have to see if Agatha will restore Alice to life by the end of the series.

My guess is This is how her son died. She accidentally sucked up all his magic and killed him. Hence the “momma, stop!” she was hearing when she killed Alice. She probably broke it off just before he died and begged Death not to take him, but she had to do her job and collected his soul and that’s why they’ve been at odds with each other ever since. And that is her sin and the truth she hasn’t ever been able to face and also what Death wanted to punish her for.

Here’s what I understood - Rio was collecting the body. The last few minutes where Teen becomes like his “mother” is a vision from Lilia. It came out of nowhere & Agatha’s character switch especially how she responds to Teen is a complete 180 and doesn’t feel authentic. This was definitely a vision and Lilia will probably prevent Alice’s death so Teen doesn’t go full fledge Wiccan on them. Also the writers clued us in on this with the first scene where it felt like it was happening but it was a vision from Lilia.

@@briannajo00 We see only what they want us to see. Marketing 101. If we saw promo with Alice alive, then it would be obvious. If we saw promo with Teen wearing a crown two episodes ago, it would’ve been obvious. Then again, Alice can possibly still die but perhaps a different way.

If Rio is death, she might have been angry about Agatha staying with her mother because she wants Agatha's soul. That is why she seems giddy when Agatha might be killed, but not when the ghost want to take her instead. She hates ghost because those are lingering spirts that remain outside her realm. She does not want that for Agatha.

Did anybody else get the sense that Agathas draining ability was almost not in her control in that scene? Like it seemed less like a voluntary choice and more like an instinct it was difficult for her to break out of.

Wiccan placed the sigil on himself. The sigil could be an M or a W. Either way it’s Wiccans sigil. William Maximoff. Be it a W or an M it = Billy’s sigil. It lifted when Agatha figured out who he was due to Billy being able to say “Nicholas Scratch”.

I wonder if Agatha truly does have some thing evil inside of her. She didn’t look excited right away to take the other witches magic. It was like a flipped switch. And then it stopped as soon as a human thing happened to her, which was hearing Nicholas scratch’s name and voice. Her mother said she was evil from birth.

21:03 in your breakdown, this is the first time I think it really hit me that Agatha made a conscious decision to take Alice’s powers. In the heat of the first watch, I thought Agatha just couldn’t help it and her power was out of control, but at this point in your review, you can see Agatha actively switch to taking Alice’s powers instead of simply allowing Alice to help her.

Alice’s power colour is _orange._ It’s _very_ deliberate that only _Wanda’s_ power is red because of her unique status as the Scarlet Witch. The “M” on Wanda’s headdress is actually originally a reference that she was part of _Magneto’s_ evil brotherhood of mutants. His helmet also shared the same general shape - or rather more accurately, Wanda’s headdress resembles his. It’s Billy _Kaplan_ - not Maximoff. It’s an entirely separate body, born to entirely different parents. He shares the same soul, but it’s a different body. It’s unlikely Wanda put a sigil on a reincarnated body she had no idea existed. It’s more likely Billy put the sigil on himself. Or he’s being influenced by Mephisto, who in the comics, laid claim to the souls of Billy and Tommy.

I think Wanda possibly pulled a reverse of what Agatha did. That maybe somehow in her last moments during M.O.M. she somehow traded and destroyed the Darkhold to make one of her sons real. And she picked the one who had the power to make the other one real (Tommy). Could've been what that red flash was as the tower collapsed in M.O.M. Also Wanda could've made a deal with Mephisto in Hell to bring one of her sons to life. Knowing that Billy will be able to eventually bring Tommy to life as well. Which works since that whole mess between them in the comics. OR Mephisto could've made Billy himself for some other reason. Jen does say something about an "Agent of Mephisto" to Billy in the first trial. And that "M" sigil could very well be for "Mephisto".

In the trailer Jen pops out outside westview. Pretty sure he kicked them off the road since he didnt like that they all didnt care about alice and only wanted power. He never believed Agatha could do it, and they left the door to the road open for the 7 so unless the 7 cared enough to close it, they could get back in through it for lila and "Rio"s trials

Even w/short run time, peobably my most favorite episode. Appreciate them just showing now, it's Wiccan/Billy instead of dragging it out. Agathy showing her sociopathic side and all her selfishness is also nice, as it's who she is. Curious to the throwing the "nice" witches into the mud, pero I agree, he was most likely being possessed/directed, and while Wanda makes sense, not 100% it was her directing his actions. Great Breakdown!

I think Agatha All Along is my favorite Marvel TV show besides WandaVision. The episodes have been great (even though they're short) but I love all the lore and mystery surrounding their circumstances. Excited to see how this all comes together.

In witchcraft there are the elements, - air, fire, water, and earth. Blue for water, green for earth (Rio), red for fire, and yellow for air. Air is about thought and communication, so therefore clairvoyance, therefore, Lilia. Now I think Agatha gets purple because she's the 5th element of ether. Teen is extra to the pentacle, so who knows what his element is.

Don't forget in the credits behind Joe Locke's name there's a newspaper article titled Near Death in Westview dates December 2023 (shortly after the events of WandaVision, and 3 years before this show), Teen told Alice "a lot happened to me 3 years ago", and Agatha mentioned a car crash in Eastview. Teen is somehow I connected to that and I think it will explain how he's Wanda's kid. But I think he's Billy Kaplan, not Billy Maximoff. He's got Billy Maximoff's soul, but a different body. Wanda didn't steal another variant drom the multiverse, he's the same Billy from WandaVision, the Billy of Earth 616.

I think Agatha’s powers are cursed. I don’t think she meant to kill her mother and I know she didn’t mean to kill Alice. I don’t think she has ever been able to control that part of her. Her anger is stemmed from the centuries of people punishing her for things she didn’t mean to do. I think over time she just embraced how her power worked.

I think Wanda’s magic or even presence inside Teen is what’s causing him to age twice as fast. Similar to the comics and how Wanda’s soul ages whenever she uses her magic. He could be a physical manifestation of her soul, which would explain the signs on his clothing being similar to the signs on the monsters she summoned in MoM

MT, you so brilliantly talked about the magic and colour symbolism in another video and how they are associated with the infinity stones and their energies. I think you're absolutely right about that. However, it seems witches were generally blue-magic wielding as the generic witch magic colour like sorcerer's orange/yellow. Now in Agatha, witches have coloured magic associated with their gifted elements and skills which seems to conflict just a little bit with the infinity stone energy labels. Could you perhaps go into that further? So far, Alice has firey orange magic and Lillia appears to have yellow but that wouldn't be exclusive to just them. And we likely won't see other witches with the same example. Comparing the Salem 7 blue vs the magic of other witches, how do you reconcile the colour manifestation in witch magic? I'm personally trying to sort out what colour I'd assign myself haha. How bout you!?

Okay bro, BLUE is gravity if there's such a gravity related color. GREEN is time-related, as we already knew with Strange, but it could also be life and death as per Hela's resurrection and Rio being death. AS PER YOUR THEORY at least, that you're breaking lol. But witches do not play by infinity stone rules. Those are cosmic powers. Not supernatural powers. I still don't think your color theory applies here. If your theory is right, Lilia's power would be GREEN.

Side note about the salem seven..if in the mcu storyline they are supposed to be the children of the witches she killed, she also killed her mother, so is one of the salem seven agathas sister perhaps?

My theory is Wanda can’t create souls. So when her twins were born they took souls from children who were close to death. Billy was a 13 year old in Eastview who nearly died in a car crash. His soul was immediately reincarnated. That’s why the twins could grow older rapidly without needing to learn development milestones. Their souls were from older kids. So Billy’s soul is in Westview as Wanda’s son and his body is in a coma. When the Hex ends he comes out of the coma but maybe still remembers who he was jn Westview or starts to over time.

I find it interesting that in this episode the ratio of the screen did not change once in the trial. In other episodes the ratio changes making me think that maybe what we see isnt all real or accurate bc of how in WandaVision the ratio changed in the hex to show how we were seeing a distorted reality thru the eyes of Wanda. This trial, doesn’t seem like a trial tho. It seems like a dream. It also doesnt feel completely like an Agatha trial. Something seems off. Every trial is personalized to the witch in a way. What do these 80s movies references say about Agatha?

The Ouija board really isn't a reference to The Exorcist it's just a normal Parker Brothers Ouija board Also at least 3 of them broke the rules. Agatha disrespected the spirits. Lilia took her hands off of the planchette first. Teen used the board alone. They also didn't properly say goodbye. And when things are flying around the room Lilia says something like "I didn't like this the first time." Then Teen can be heard saying "Lilia's acting weird again"

Pretty sure the last episode Agatha said, the sigil can only be broken by the one who made it, OR - when it’s no longer needed. The sigil stopped him from telling anyone who he was. I think Wanda needs a new body, and the road can give her one, so she sent him in as a mole with the sigil on, so he could get to the end of the road and get Wanda back to life or into reality again. Making Agatha think it’s her son, hence why death had to point out, that it wasn’t. Which means, now that Agatha figured out who he is and even said “you’re so much like your mother” she knows who he is now, therefore the sigil broke because it has no purpose anymore and Billy is now back to normal.

Next episode is definitely NOT Lilia's trial. Joe Locke said that was episode 7 during the press tour. My guess is they are on the yellow/air road now, but next episode will be Billy's episode.

I believe the last part of the episode is not real, I think what we are seeing after the Ouija board said "punish Agatha" is an illusion conjured by the trial, that brings everything she fears to the same place at once. Her mom, her kid's spirit, Rio dissappearing suddenly, Teen becoming evil, killing her and the rest of the new coven AND being Wandas son, Alice dying due to her uncontrollable power, being called a monster from birth and the power she got from Alice seems to evaporate, like it dissappeared. Maybe the real trial is punishing Agatha while she confronts all that mentally and HAVING to ask for help or letting herself be helped by others, idk. I just feel something is up, I might be very wrong, but something's off about that ending for me personally.
