Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings travel to Merlinville-sur-Mer, France, to meet Paul Renauld, who has requested their help. When they arrive, local police greet them with the news that Renauld was found dead that morning, stabbed in the back with a knife and left in a newly dug grave adjacent to a local golf course.

The late great John Moffat plays Poirot in these BBC radio 4 dramatisations. IMHO he was the best Poirot.

No one will ever be Poirot, after hearing and seeing David Suchet! He is Poirot.

David Suchet was brilliant for the first few years . In the latter episodes the accent became ludicrously mannered . And his character - especially in the Orient Express episode - suddenly stricken with existential Angst .?? John Moffat became better and better.!

TY for your channel! Of course heard this before. Thought I might like it better this time but I was wrong. LOL Prefer Christie's non detective work & some of her older investigative characters. She received such notoriety from Poirot (or possibly pressure from publishers) that she wore him out, imho. Plots got more & more ridiculous, again just my opinion. Still appreciate the upload & the work you put in the channel. 👍

@ Teda R If you think Agatha 's plots are ridiculous you obviously haven't listened to Paul Temple .!

@@2msvalkyrie529 😂 as I’ve said the ‘so bad it’s good’ category is one of my favorites. Not all of these fall into that cat but I do ❤️ Paul & Steve, Lord Peter, Dick & Dora & their lil dog too lol Pascal. (can’t recall last name, only three epis survive. It’s on the tip of my tongue) I’m just not a fan of Poirot. Done to death….pun intended 😄

@ Teda R You have a point. At her best - the ABC Murders / Orient Express / Roger Ackroyd / Styles - she was as brilliant as Houdini in his prime but ,yes , the plots eventually became rather foolish. What about John Dickson Carr ? Or S S Van Dine ??

I knew Poirot was out of bounds. But the driver of the taxi possibly was on the real fairway. However the main handicap was his main ace to the 19th hole-Strange, - But-possibly true......Hhmmmmm........
