I have a friend who was in a similar situation. There was a 21 year age gap and the marriage lasted for over 20 years. The marriage was fine until he entered a different stage of life. The problem was when he retired at age 65 the couple had different goals. He wanted to do retirement things live travel and spend time at the cottage. She was 44 and still loved her job. So they fought a lot and broke up two years later.

I was 44 when I met my fili of 35, I'm 60 now she is of course 51. I look 60, she still looks 30. Age is just a number. This is a great video you've done here... Good on both of you for speaking about what can be an awkward conversation. My experience is the older ladies in Australia looking at us sideways with a glare, sad old ducks are just jealous.

I didn't realize that Leah was that young.. But one of my main fears would be exactly Life expectancy ... It's a hard thing to realize that like Gary will most likely die between 15 and 30 years where Leah could Live 3 times that ... She's got a great outlook through... It's definitely important to make sure that the Filipina is financially set up before the foreigner passes away.

What a lovely Girl, I am 58 and I met a 33 year old Filipino, I aimed for a smaller age gap. We were talking to each other for over a year and I travelled there to meet her. The trip went really well in fact she got pregnant which didn't worry either of us as we had talked about it and it was something we had planned down the track as I knew how much she wanted to be a mother and I believed it was only fair. Unfortunately she miscarried due to several underlying health issues she didn't tell me about and as a result her family came back into her life, she hadn't been talking to them since the start of the pandemic due to money issues. Within only a few months things changed between us and she ended our relationship this despite me looking after her the best I could. She used her health issues as the reason, but personally I believe it was her family especially her sister that drove a wedge between us. I put a lot of emotional and financial effort into our relationship and it has been tough trying to move on and it has left me doubting LDR. TC all.

Age gap is normal in the Philippines if is 10 to 15 years (even 20 years if the guy looks in his late 30s), BUT huge age gap (30 or 40 or 50 years) is NOT normal in the Philippines and people will criticize you and say bad things behind your back specially Filipinos. I know this because I lived multiple years in the province there. Big age gap is not normal in the Philippines, otherwise Filipinos wouldn’t talk behind your back about the age difference if it was normal like some people wrongfully say. But age gap of 10 to 15 years is fine in Philippines and is accepted like a Filipino couple because more likely both couples will look like 5 yrs difference which is a normal age gap and not like a grandfather dating a granddaughter. And by the way, I’m not criticizing you guys, is just the way it is there. I think the advantage for you guys is that he looks like 15 years younger, so he looks like 45 yrs old, so you might get away from some criticism from Filipinos. I’m early 40s and I look early 30s (some even think late 20s), so when I dated someone like 20 to 25 it is fine for me because I just look like 5 or 6 years older. And I never get criticized. So yeah big age gap matters and also how younger the guy looks like.

Then I would probably place you in Philadelphia, because you sound almost British. Reminds me of the accent of Grace Kelly, who was from Philadelphia. Coming back to the topic: what would scare me the most about such a large age gap is that the man may come to a point in his life when certain body functions start failing at a time when the woman is still at an age that she really needs the physical part of the relationship. Would you accept her infidelity when the time comes that she can't get it from you anymore? Pardon my bluntness, but this is something I always wonder about when I see large age gap couples.

I'm going to keep it all the way real, the main reason why older men go to foreign countries from the west, is to find younger beautiful women to marry. I mean, Let's face it we older men from the west struggle finding younger women because our countries have too men to compete with. There's so many men in the west that's its not even funny. I think age gap relationships are more difficult in Western countries like the USA. People in the USA tend to be more immature . In these SE Asian countries the people have to grow up faster & learn to take on responsibilities early.

Sorry but this is something I wouldn't do or recommend be done. I'm 55 and my Filipina wife is 40 married for 4 years. Age gaps do matter and not do be dismissed because she is a Filipina. Filipinas are human prone to sin like the rest of us. It's best that you find a Filipina that is maximum 15 years younger than you. Much more mature and more likely to be able to relate to you.

This is a good topic. I am 67 and my wife is 28, we have been together for 10 years and I also feel younger just like you do when I am married to someone who is much younger than me. We will pass away long before our wives and they will probably remarry, that's sad haha. I and my wife have children and our big issue at the moment is whether to decide for our children to grow up in Spain with high education and no family since I am from Norway, or move back to the Philippines where my wife's family is from and limited school education. We also have very little social life here due to our age difference, couples in their 60s-70s don't want to socialize with old/young couples (I do understand them). In the Philippines, we have a family but I don`t want to live too close to them even thought they are nice, you easily become an ATM for them every time there is something. My wife and I are in many ways on two different planets, but I've learned to let her have the last word if we disagree, it works fine and we haven't argued in years. My wife is of course very beautiful and a very good wife and mother too. I recognize a lot of how you describe their relationship, almost so that I could say the same about me and my wife hehe. Can't say that we will live cheaper in the Philippines either, since the cost level here in Spain is somewhat lower overall than in the Philippines, after all, I lived in the Philippines for 10 years before we moved here 7 years ago, so I know much about all the unexpected expenses that always pop up in The Philippines, although cheap to live there anyway. The healthcare system is bad and not to be trusted either, a lot of crime and guns in the Philippines and the number one rule is not to argue with anyone in the Philippines even if you are right. Most Filipinos are friendly but there are pros and cons like in all countries. I guess I simply miss the sunset hehe, and the simple life. The same case for my wife, she prefers the Philippines, but our kids love school here, so we do as they used to say in the Philippines, wait for a while 🙂.

I am married to Filipina. I was 52 and she was 26. I am 69 now and she is 43. I never regret a minute. She is so loving and hard working and fun. I try not to think about it. I just want to enjoy life. The biggest problem is trying to support her family. I finally try to back off on helping. It is never enough and they do not appreciate the sacrifices we make to help them. It is better to let them take care of themselves. It makes them dependent and they do not try to better themselves.

I am 48, and my Pinay GF is 20. I chose her, and she chose me. I find that it does feel awkward because of the Western attitude that age gap is taboo. I have had to sell myself that her love is true. Her actions have proven that she loves me. Money may be part of it, but not all. Every one needs security as well as love. My first marriage to a Pinay lasted 22 years, 15 very happy. Now I find myself looking for younger so I can have more kids. I did try for an American woman, but they are too materialistic, let their health suffer, and are past the family making stage. Nice age gap conversation. Thanks. I met my Thai wife when I was 60 and she was 35. We have been together 5 years, married for 3 years. (= 25 yr age gap). My western friends have been supportive. My sister in the US is less so but we still get along. As to who gets what in the relationship I am quite comfortable with, in fact consider it normal, that she gets maturity and financial security and I get companionship. All of that is compatible with a love relationship. Relationships are more than one thing. This is quite common, when I die she will, of course, be relatively young but I will leave her with land and a house and some amount of money to restart her life. When I think about it I would recommend choosing a partner over 30 years old (maturity considerations) but whatever works is OK. Certainly discuss the issue of children early on as well as whether to live in the west or in Asia. Westerners are hung up on the romantic love question of “will she love me if I am poor”. I don’t think that that is a helpful perspective. I think relationships are more complicated than that and that Asians have a more honest approach to that question.

Personally I believe that anyone from any culture around the world no matter what the justifications understand the driving factors in this type of relationship, personally I think it’s a pretty fair trade off but I think it makes it look wrong to hear people hiding from the reality. I would respect much more, yes she’s with me because of wealth and I’m with her because of beauty and youth but in that arrangement we found affection for one another. Answer these questions honestly and then enjoy your arrangement. For her: How likely would this relationship have been if given the same personality traits he was a 59 year old Filipino trike driver with a meager income? For him: would you still have been drawn to her if she having the same personality traits was a 60 year old of average looks and body?

But paradoxically, bigotry against age gaps has increased when it was more of a historical standard. Young girls had coming out events shortly after puberty and were married off to successful older men. More recently with feminist dominated culture, girls push marriage off until 30 while they pursue education, career, and promiscuity. It is imperative that they guilt-trip and shame men for choosing younger wives as men did in the past because the women squandered their youth, beauty, and fertility and do not want to be held accountable for it. They think they can brow-beat men into marrying them instead of younger, more beautiful, and fertile wives.
