Game developers: Man this game is going to have our players so scared! They're going to have to commit all of their resources and ingenuity to stop our death nights on Nightmare difficulty! Kensei: Anyway, I'm bored. I guess I'll expand during a wave into the Death Fog. Devs: wHaT?! Kensei: Nah that feels exploitative. Devs: Hmm we got some work to do... Kensei: I'll meet the wave out in the field! Devs: #&%$!!!!!!
@@adamszalai6797 Ye I noticed they fixed that haven’t they? So it won’t let you keep one alive now, either way Horrific is now under my belt but nightmare is like mmm I got work to do.
@@phrozac They are trying to improve and balance it but after too many suggestions it is getting messy. Generally with a single player game they should make the full game first then bring out a sequel, if they keep listening to players asking for a stronger archer or a weaker enemy it will not have balance. It does not have a large variety of troops and from what I can see it needs challenges where only specific types of weapon will work, from what I can see from all video's is 1 main giant white archer thingy wiping out all enemies quickly. IT IS REPETITIVE AND BORING if you could only stop fanboy praizing.
@@thethoughtmaster Dude. It's in EARLY ACCESS. It's all about finding what balance works best. Shit is going to be in flux during this phase pretty much up until a few months before full release. That's the nature of game dev. Right now the hero/unit/building count is incomplete and more will be added in the future. Even UI features are incomplete and I have plenty of suggestions for QoL additions, but that's all to come. And it's not fanboy praising if it's legit praise, which it is. I haven't had this much fun with an RTS since Warcraft 3. And I've played quite a few RTS games since War3. Try to be constructive rather than behaving as if the game is wrapped up and done, jeez.
It seems like the aspect of a “Hero” character in this game makes it leagues easier than TAB in simply due to you being able to go out and wipe swarms of enemies early and expand light years faster.
@@Pasukaru0 If you want to be a pedantic nonce at least take into consideration he's also discussing a distance in this same statement and as such the hero allows him to expand lightyears of distance faster is a valid interpretation of his statement.
@pathing - I've been testing horde routes by standing a unit in front of my Fortress on the side of the crystal, then telling them to move to the crystal. It has reliably shown me the horde's preferred route every time. I've had a couple crystals that were really close on two paths, where a group of horde split and went to a different gate/wall. That could have also been a separate, smaller group spawn, as also happens sometimes.
You can't just look at the fog-obscured map and tell shortest path, because you don't know where moutains/trees/rivers are. Your units know, though. To me, it does seem like it 100% prefers the shortest route from crystal to your Fortress.
I think the reason "They Are BILLIONS!" is harder than this game, is because waves come from the edge of the map, rather than easily identifiable crystals. Case and point, you were using the edges of the map to build houses, while focusing your defenses around the crystals, predicting the path the enemies take. Other reasons TAB's is harder is because buildings are quickly consumed by the enemy and create more enemies. There are also no instant kill enemies except elites, which are slow and cumbersome. I could go on and on, but I suppose the main protagonists pretty much sum up and reflect the difficulty of the enemy. AOD:FS has medieval units, TAB's has steampunk units with artillery and machineguns.
I just picked up the game and this is my first rts. I'm getting overwhelmed by all of the things i have to do in the game and can barely keep up on normal mode but i'm having fun ! Maybe i'll learn some things watching this
wow man what a game to try for first rts. Tho this is heavily tower defence on the side of rts. Some real classics especially the late 90's golden age.
I wish it were still so easy (well, maybe not)! Waves are chock full of Axemen now (like 50 in 1st wave), the enemies are way more densely packed, and have better pathfinding, and their are Bomb enemies that will wipe out your whole squad if you look away for 5 seconds. Seeing this is wild! xD Looks like the Waves used to be observing COVID social distancing! Now they crawl all over each other. Crazy to see how they used to just stand in a grid formation and calmly wait to die! This also affects the time they take to arrive. Not only does that make it way easier to defend (since defense difficulty is fundamentally based on their DPS, which depends on how fast they come at you), it also means you have WAY more time to expand. e.g. My 3rd wave took 4.5 minutes. Yours took 21 minutes!! =0 Took me forever just to get past the 2nd wave, even though my strat is relatively the same and we had comparable incomes =/ Had a better choke, a couple more ballistae, a few less Crossbows, mostly same walls as you, and get stomped! Did manage to win eventually but, yeah, way more of a challenge now.
There also feels like the resourcers are even more rare to find, sometimes I just wipe a map completely just to find there was barely 1 or 2 small gold veins and at that point the time just doesn´t help you to get anything done right.
Damn, dude. I just beat Horrific. Started playing a week ago. Without the ability to pause, I think my journey has ended, lol. Impressed asf you beat Nightmare.
Learnt a lot from your video and decided to try the game out. I got towards the Final Stand on Normal on my first attempt but as you said… -50% Tower and Turret range ended the run there.
its exact copy of they are billions. just different graphics and change the name of things. not much more things to add. Arbalest is basically the sniper but they nerfed it some. in they are billions thats basically what you did. just build a bunch of snipers and expand. however, what they did different was add the hero i think. in they are billions the hero was just in the solo facility infiltration missions. could be wrong.. its been a while since i played TAB. I always wished they would expand its campaign mode. but i guess this game is their response to that.
When you realise that maybe the humans are the horde and the nightmares are merely trying to pre-emptively stop us from destroying their entire world..
I played tbe game on normal difficulty. Was ashamed with my skills, I could easily battle any horde from they are billipns on the hardest difficulty 3/4 up through the campaign. But this game is hard. Its beta version yeh and its bloody hard. The resource gain is slow, didnt really understand how long a cycle is and the game felt alot of lacking with the battles in general. It's an okay game; needs alot of work though
It requires stone way way earlier than TAB does in my experience. Then with abit of luck and saving game before big decision/gamble, i cleared normal difficulty. Might have to try no save next time.
@@cherrydragon3120 for an early access game they have a lot going for them still, they now need to steadily ride this wave and not end up in developer hell
i did this when the game came out. seems like a good challenge but building tricks needed to change from other difficulties. so good job doing this too!
Wow great job, and the bellow towers are great for front line, infront of your balistas. It does dmg 2 tiles around it. I like to put 3 walls in front of the archer tower then bellow towers then 3 walls in front of bellows. Thw big plus is when you are dighting with the range reduction nerf on towers. Bellows will help pull you through sometimes
i mean this looks really fun but there is a lot of refinement to do, like the enemy AOE attack.... how it's way to late to move your units after seeing the impact circle of the enemy aoe....and the splash goes even outside the marker is that rly ok when every unit counts xD? and yeah like you said the pathing
All the hit box indicators are out of wack, for balistas the enemy is just in range of it according to the range indicator, but the tower can't hit it. Likewise, that 4 legged enemy with the AoE attack, the hitbox is out of wack as well. So many times ive microed my units clearly just out of range of the attack but they get hit anyway like you said lol
It would be awesome if they made a few new factions and kept the zombie apocalypse so in pvp all the players have to fight for resources and survive the waves
Hey my man, I watched the video and it's great one. But you kept saying stone is not enough. Did you try to build multiple store houses touching the quarry? The bounces stick together. The game is balanced just by playing more we will find more about the game. Keep the good work up. 👍
I assumed the stacking wasn't intended but if it is, that is a great way to get a lot more stone. Hope they remove the stacking but add more stone quarries at the edge of the map.
@@KenseiTV do you think it would improve it if let's say a building falls like a house it becomes an eternal spawner of new nightmares until destroyed?
If you watch his older videos you'll find out, that he's used to play "they are billions" on like +2000% Enemy strength and still manages to win. Technically him losing his hero was just a switch back to another game. The mechanics seem to be fairly similar, except for some units. Edit: This is still incredebile and in no way intended to belittle anyting achived here. He's just THAT good is what I'm saying.
One really big exploit is keeping the death night going by keeping a enemy alone and that happened to me with a big guy who couldn’t destroy one wooden wall so I build around him so nothing else could interfere while I built up all my defences while wave 2 was going for hours, this more horrific easier than forgiving difficulty.
If you get lucky, you can trap a sole zombie on a wave by distracting one with building walls as it comes by, and just surround the thing with the heavy walls. Takes about 10 minutes for it to kill one, and you just replace it. Because the wave will still have 1+ zombie left on it, it never ends, and you can just expand via fire towers and clear the map.
I think they patched this I had a death night end while there was still 4 specials alive it was 2 of those bomber guys and 2 of the brute guys ogres maybe idk what they're called
Game's great, only just started it, and beat veteran, early access seems to have changed a lot since this video. Hope for many new map generation types and expanded factions with different units/buildings in future.
actually you can save lol just need to make a backup of the last autosave in the folder... xD those streaming folks who say they won the hard way without saving, all actually saved before each wave hahahh
I'd really like to see a new Nightmare difficulty with the new hero. She's waaayyy more aggressive than Edwin. Edwin is nice, with his faster emboldening of troops, but the Queen of Nothing is super offensive. She can (save the giants) almost single-handedly hold off wave 1-3 on her own. Spear and shield warrior, with an ability to spawn Loyal Guards, buff her and the Guards she can summon (Attack distance, stun chance, attack speed), and self heal when units die. Also with Max Level for heroes being 10 now, and the new Fishery and Treasury buildings....
@@THEBUGSAREBACCCCKKKKKKKKKK She's more powerful than Edwin is in this run, but maybe he got a buff, Idk. The Queen of Nothing doesn't have the buff to Veteran/Emboldened XP gain, so your troops will take longer to become Emboldened, making Horror a much bigger deal for her troops. But, she gets to summon Loyal Guards (1 at first, then later on 2, then 3, and I _think_ it caps out at 4. Maybe 5), and gets a short buff to her and her Loyal Guards only. She can solo on Normal wave 4 with decent to ok micro, if you've leveled her up enough to for her to have the buff. Max hero level is 10 now, btw. So heroes do stand up to the later waves and map clearing a lot better.
how the fk you get a map that allows a big grouping of house like that? I always start with a narrow strip of land surrounded by forest with 6-8 exits to guard and metal source is way over by a nightmare spawn point.
Im pretty new to this game so Im asking me why u dont upgrade the lodges into houses? And it seems like you play range units only? anyways.. I guess this was the first time I watched 03:47:25 nonstop on YT. Awesome gameplay. :D
There is a pan and zoom speed option. Game speed can't be changed to my knowledge. It might depend on your PC though at least that was the case in They are Billions.
honestly the game looks super fun, but it really needs more variations in many ways. ill stick to TAB for now but i will watch this game growth with great interest
You should check a more updated video, there´s been quite some nice changes with exploit fixes, better AI, better management of resources, quite a few new building, a couple new units and new heroes that are either way better or more interesting than this one, also some new enemies to make you want to break one ball more easily if you don´t pay attention correctly.
Well depending on difficulty it can be something like day 30-35 for forgiving and easy so you get more time to build up between waves, then veteran and normal is about 28-30 days then horrific and nightmare are 18-22 I’d say since each wave for them is 2 days 3days then every wave after that is 4 days inbetween considering lower difficulty has up to 6-8 days and that’s a long time if you work fast expanding.
Unless they created a new company just to produce this game, the answer is no. TAB is developed and published by Numantian and this game is developed by Playside and published by Team17.
I like watching from time as you playing in billions and one question why forget upgrade talents ?) P.s. ok im see you do this)) P.s.s. press f to that brave Witcher i hope you going to Rivvia
I like this game a bit more than They Are Billions!. It feels a lot more claustrophobic, less terrain to build on and have to stretch your buildings out.
