I feel like a lot of people do not check the Steam page or maybe miss out on that detail but just to confirm - YES! The Editor will be included. It has been confirmed and is in fact visible as a feature just like the original had on Steam, so that will ensure a replayability and unlimited amount of fun for all the other creatives out there.
Been on a AoM fan video binge, the things people make with just the old editor are already amazing, I can't wait to see what they do with the Retold editor.
@@plasticold2167 there were some seriously cool campaigns back in the day from the community - honestly all the extra content people made was part of what made it such an active community. Hope they breathe some new life into the editor side of things too
Well as good as it looks, I still hope for a little more than just a visual update and some additional balancing work. For example: being able to put units on walls to create additional hight advantage etc. The possibility to fight on walls would not only give the game more strategic depth (since enemies could use your own walls against you) but would also (for example) work great with the special ability of the Anubites, which could jump onto/over walls.
Highly unlikely. Neither AoE I or AoE II definitives has this, I imagine this is very hard to implement and they are remaking this game in the old engine
@@IllTakeThisName Finns actually had a very different set of beliefs compared to their neighbors to the West. The culture is historically more closely related to Estonia than Norway. That being said I do think it would be a while before Finns were added as a group since superficially they would be associated with the Norse.
1000% this was my and my twin brother's obsession for almost 3 years. He was a 1750-1820 mostly Isis and Loki/Odin player. I was a little worse, around 1680-1730 using any Greek (mostly Poseidon or Hades) and Thor. I can't wait to play again now that I know what hotkeys are lol. The fact that we were able to get over 1800 a few times using ONLY mouse clicks is kind of crazy. I literally didn't even know the keyboard did anything.
not sure how I feel about the water tiles not being as vibrantly blue tbh. Seeing it so blue and so full of life is what really captured my imagination as a kid and so appropriate too because the campaign revolved around Atlantis!
i think they should of gone for 2 water tiles. i know it more work but having the vibrantly blue sea really suited places like you say atlantis and such. but the water used would suit very well for say norse or other areas if they plan to make campaigns more in the north or south of the world
the moody lighting is bad too. all maps unless there was legimate reason were set at noon. what kid doesnt like playing outside at a summer noon? that was one of reasons why i liked this game so much as a kid. also the graphics look like claymation/fortnite. which i believe cant capture the realistic magic of the original
Why they want to add Freyr? The god that truly needs to be added is Sobek, because ist feels wrong, to get a crocodile myth unit from cow goddess instead of crocodile god.
The DS port of AoM got that right funnily enough - it had Sobek as a Minor God unique to Isis, and the Petsuchos/Petsobek was his Myth Unit. Hathor still had the Roc, which was repurposed into a flying combat unit.
Honestly there really is only one thing im really hopeful for, and that is, i hope they fixed the ai properly and it doesnt cheat. Like how i send my villagers to an obscure random spot away from any town center and i see the ai's army charge towards my city, only to suddenly shift directions and head towards that random spot. Or how ive destroyed the ai's markets and it hasnt touched the gold mines at all, yet "somehow" keeps producing units.
Thumbs up. I've replayed a game looking at how IA played and at maximum difficulty, what they did was simply have a cheat where the units builds a lot faster.
The most jarring thing to me is that the God portrait are clearly made using AI. They're not made by people, they're not authentic or showing a distinct art style like the original. They're generic in that anyone could've made them and they don't invoke any association with a specific brand, game or artist.
Why do the trailers are look so epic and grandeur yet when I watch people playing the game the armies are tiny and games are over after very small skirmishes?
The Titans does not look similar to the original version to me, they should make units as close as possible to the original version, and give real names of deities and units, not fancy names.
Broo, I played AoM very little (just campaign and skirmishes vs AI) but the top thing I wanted to change was make god powers rechargeable. Nice to see it's the top new feature.
I haven't played RS3 in like a year and rarely ever watch RS3 content, but the second I heard your voice I was like... "Wait is that Protoxx?" and yes, yes it is. Also this game looks awesome
It would be way cool if you could use the god powers as often as you like as long as you pay enough favor, plus a certain amount of time to recharge. For example, the meteor as an example, you can use it as many times as you want for like 200 Favor plus a 10 minute recharge or something to that effect. I think it could make the game more fun if those weren't restricted but if they were really high cost.
it definantly would add more strategy and make favor just that much more useful. as long as things are balanced (like the plenty vault should be balanced so it can be destroyed if you can create more) and upgrades for other god powers later game (the lure would be useless to reuse unless it allows spawning of animals with an upgrade later) . the atlantians would also probably need a racial bonus to make lesser powers cost less as being able to use their lesser powers more was their perk . some gods would be amazing on multiplayer though like thor spawning a gold mine at a egyption allie or gaia spawning some trees or a greek using cease fire to allow them time to help in the defense of a ally.
A big question to me will be : Can we use old scenarios/maps from the editor made in extended edition and read them in the new version of the game ? Because I have a tons of scenarios with triggers and it would be a shame to lost them. I will probably need to update some of the maps/models but the triggers can still function well...
Here’Over the years, I've been so proud of Microsoft for truly listening to us and making all these things possible. Who remembers playing *Age of Empires*, *Rise of Nations*, and *Rise of Legends* growing up? Exactly my point. I’m glad to stick with Microsoft because I genuinely love these games, and Sony hasn’t done much for longtime gamers who appreciate this kind of experience. With *Age of Mythology Retold* now part of the collection, I think a remastered version of *Rise of Legends* would be a perfect addition. Ubisoft's *Anno 1800* was also recently added, and it's another great game. Microsoft will always be my favourite. Hands down!
The auto assign villager thing looks awful and has no place in age of empires. New gen gamers can just be better at gaming rather than people making games easier for them imo. Pity the kids that have 5 guides , 3 walkthroughs and pay to win unlocks helping them play games. The game manual used to be enough for us.
With old games why it lags most of time is because of multiple cores. U can fix this easy by finding the processor in task manager and select it to run with 1 core. This fixes everything. U need to run it first or else it wont show up. Also right click and click go to details if u noob at task manager and cant find the processor. This is how I fix mine games when I play. Also there are 2 type of new processors. The good ones and the bad ones. The good ones are for home and bad ones are for labs. Thats why some old processors do it better then new ones. Also if u rig your system and u have brands that are not known it can cause alot of issues. MSI, Intel, Nvidia stick with those 3 guys. I can ask alot of money for this information but I give free.
Brace yourself for it to be updated for…A Modern Audience. How’s that working by the way, Homeworld 3? Oh yeah, now I remember, Mostly Negative on Steam and still dropping.
Showing the very original game graphics compared to this is heavy cope. OG release was something around 2000 if you can believe it and was one of if not the first 3d RTS games out along with a couple others. This game has been remade twice on steam since then with the initial steam (HD) release and then the Extended edition with the Chinese mythology. And you can also tell the mechanics of the units and buildings all function the same so it is the same assets and engine. The one thing I can say Im looking forward to is the revitalized modding community with this. Just hoping it lasts long enough. What they needed to make was a game somewhere between this and TW Warhammer with a dynamic map much like Battle for Middle Earth II had back in the day. Hope this proves enough interest in this game that they FINALLY make what is a 20 year long needed second entry into this game. Finally a game that successfully makes me feel old.
You sound far too much like you're just reading off a script. It's like having the steam product page read to you, it's boring. Put some personality into your narration, it's just too dry right now.
I'm seeing the same color issues that made me quit AOE4 and AOE2 DE after a few maps. The color palette is so gloomy it feels depressing. I hope someone will mod this for something more colorful, and I hope the sound also stays loud and good, unlike the boring sounds they put on the mentioned games. I just want AOM to be good 🙁
As long as they actually flesh out the Chinese pantheon instead of just making it a half-baked reskin like it originally was, I'm for it. But i'll remain cautiously optimistic.
so, are they holding any extra gods by pay wall? if they do - well, publishers and marketologs are gods in reversed way, because its very stupid to have something like this in a game with multiplayer pvp matchmaking
Wow so im trying to figure out whats going on with this game, as it interested ive done some reasearch now. Not realizing the first game was made not even a full year after i was born. The lore goes deep as hell with this one, i might get it but im glad all these people are having their childhood enjoyment brought back. 👍
I heard the new portraits are AI generated, and looking at Zeus’s hand that does seem to be the case. I’m surprised they left something in like that for promotional material
There is so much nickel and diming that i won't get this game unless its on sale. 7 days early play is not "early". Play on release and everyone else play late.
Nice video and always nice to hear ur voice on a video other than rs3..... Never tried Age of myth but i played alot of Aoe2. Didnt hear about this, thx for letting me know!
It has alot of cashgrab red flags, the early acces for preorder, dlc’s incoming( so they are holding backcontent), I think they want to milk AOM fans like total war milks warhammer 3 fans… I still play this game and agree changes can be made to keep it as fun as can be. But im worried about al those little signs, guess W’ll only know once its out.
DLCs require many months of work and are started in advance before games are released and that’s for MOST big projects out there, if DLCs were already made and just locked behind premium package they would just have showcased them to get more preorders/sales on the premium version… 🤦♂️ Btw aom fans don’t exist, they are probably a bunch of people in the entire world
they're literally closing NATIONS, RACES, UNITS, GODS behind a paywall in game which also has a multiplayer pvp ladder I mean, clearly, its such a bad move.
I played thousands of hours of AoE2 and about a thousand of AoM, and I have to say while AoE2 being less rushed (longer games) was more enjoyable, AoM had absolutely epic units that I miss so much! Like the Nemean Lion, Phoenix, Ice Giant, Hydra and Fenris Wolf Brood! You've got to play with them to really appreciate how versatile, balanced and awesome they are! And strategic use of the god powers added an interesting dimension
