Personally, I am hoping for something on the lines of Mesopotamia civ. Maybe Babylonians but Sumerians, Hittites, Assyrians or even Persia would be nice. Think about it, a unit roster that includes Chariots of both range and melee varieties, Strong foot archers as the region is well known for having many warrior groups fighting for the powers that be, Cheap axe and Shield infantry that can overwhelm your opponent's troops, access to potent siege that rivals the best that Egyptian or Greek can muster if they include Assyrian elements while also having access enduring defenses and even buildings if were talking Babylon being their choice along with a large variety of myth units based on cultural regions that doesn't really show it face a lot in media, At least in terms of western productions at least. Heck, they could make their hero's almost Greeks and make them function like God kings as deification was big thing back then with their more meganomical rulers, have them be a signal unit becomes considerable stronger with age ups and technologies as if their a mini titan in their own right but be very expensive to train and have huge weaknesses to mitigate the threat such a unit can possess on the battlefield.

the one issue with Aztecs is that having them as official content in all their human-sacrificing glory may not be ok for a game that already removed corpses

that and the atlanteans ALSO already use the extended reek pantheon... a third one is a hard pass when we could have celts, japan, aztecs, india, and so many other religions... hell, take a peek at Smite and see how many religions can be used without having to use the rebranded greeks :p

​@@josjos2203 only if you consider post Macedonian Wars Romans (aka when the Romans were already the rulers of Mediterranean sea), hinestly I feel the only Romans that could work in AoE aren't the imperial ones we see everywhere, but the early Republican/ Monarchy ones that are always overlooked. Their religion was still a little influenced by Greek but was very different woth very distinct gods and myths, their units very different from the ones we're used to and their buildings already are different from anyone. Sadly in modern media Romans mean only 1st century CE Romans so I doubt we'll see them in other ways

Which makes sense considering they released the chinese pack a couple years ago for the original. So it was kind of EXPECTED that they'd just remaster that as well

@@chrisedrington7945 think they wont remaster the chinese, but flat out remake them, which makes sense how poorly received their reception was (main issue being that they were just a mish mash of things grabbed from other civs with a new paint coat). Will be the chinese, but they should be very different from the EE chinese

The Chinese had the booming ability of Egyptians with military strength to rival the Greeks and the economic flexibility of Atlanteans. Oh, and just having two or three Fire Birds was more devastating than having a whole damn Nidhogg. They were so stupidly overpowered that it made zero sense.

Atlanteans are a fusion between Romans and Mesoamerican people. That's why I thunk we won't see Aztecs as the new pantheon, more likely it'll be Japan, but I hope in Persia, that I think would fit better, China already feels a lot out of place

The Aztecs have a lot of gods. You just hesitate to dig deep via Google or Bing! Major: Huitzilopochtli, Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca and Xipe Totec Minor: Xochipilli, Tlaloc, Cinteotl, Xochiquetzal, Coatlicue, Chalchiuhtlicue, Xiuhtecuhtli, Pahtecatl, Mictlantecuhtli, Coyolxauhqui, Ehecatl, Malinalxochitl (the Circe of the Aztec pantheon), Mixcoatl, Yacatecuhtli, Xolotl, Tlazolteotl
