BLOOD FOR THE KHORNE FLAKES! Khorne and Nurgle are my favourite Chaos Gods.

The Chaos Gods used to be more complicated. Khorne was the war god, but he could also stand for human valour and honour (this was back when they made more of a thing about them being formed from emotions and concepts). In the same way, Tzeentch embodied the need to strive and change things for the better, Slaanesh was formed partially out of love and affection, and Nurgle was a symbol of stoicism and refusal to break under bad circumstances and despair. The old Realm of Chaos books had a lot of details about it. It also drove home how you couldn't defeat them completely as even 'good' concepts went towrds empowering them. Certainly, later in Warhammer Fantasy's life that kind of got left behind a bit, so Khorne was all about the blood (and skulls I suppose), Slaanesh about perversion and lust and Tzeentch was just about plotting and magic. Nurgle kept a bit of it, but generally Chaos became more two dimensional bad guys. Now, I haven't really been following Chaos so much in Age of Sigmar, but it would be good if they brought back a bit more of the ambiguity from the old fluff. After all, there's always the Horned Rat if you want a simple 'Raargh, kill-kill everything' evil god. Still, great video as ever :-) Thanks for these videos, they are particularly awesome for those like me who have some of the AoS stuff but are interested in the fluff that we don't own for ourselves.

I’m thinking of creating a personal narrative for my Bloodbound army whenever I get one that are highly disciplined soldiers rather than mere mindless berzerkers yet still have a great bloodlust, think of a mix of Sparta and the Blood Pact from 40K. I’m almost done with the colour scheme for them. EDIT: just finished the colour scheme for them! Used a Bloodreaver drawing I found online as a black and white base. The battletome is really amazing. I wound up with the khorne half of the starter kit and always struggled with getting into the army, "why would anyone ever join the bloodbound?!". After reading the tome, the essence of which you presented wonderfully, I could totally see how one gets subsumed in the blood rage! Once given no choice, the pure martial meritocracy of khorne seems like a release! Like you said, from that point on they have purpose! No individual anxieties, just lust for battle and blood for the blood God!!!

You really nailed this one! Great vid, your enthusiasm really brings this stuff to life. I really like how these narrative, story telling, elements are baked into the game. For me thats what its really about.

Hi Doug, Big fan of your lore videos, and I recently found them to be quite useful in educating/inducting a new player into AOS lore. However, I had trouble finding a video that adequately and succinctly explained what the word "Chaos" means within the bounds of the setting, without getting bogged down in the plethora of side-topics and nuanced details of each of the individual Chaos Gods and factions. So I wanted to recommend a potential topic that you might wish to cover in the future: "Chaos for newbies". Something that explained the common threads that run through all of the Chaos factions, the physical and/or spiritual mutations that coincide with Chaos worship/influence, and exactly what "spawndom" means. ...Y'know, all the stuff that veteran Warhammer fans take for granted, to the point that we actually struggle when trying to explain it to new folks. :)

Dammit, Doug, this is going to make me want to break my Khorne Bloodbound army out again.

i love the khorne themed warriors, but the higher up you go in their "evolution" the more ridiculous their weapons get. some of their swords look like f*cking red christmass trees... i mean if you realy are into spikes just stick to warhammers and maces (which are the only weapons that profit from something along that line)
