Thanks for speaking normally! Way too many of these kind of videos the speaker goes so fast I cannot grab what they are saying. Why is that? What is the point of speaking so fast in so many of these?
What's fast for you may not be fast to others. That's why personalisation options like playback speed exist. Changing the video to 90 instead of 100 will probably solve the issue and won't distort the sound by making it sound slow motion.
It's so the dwarves can't hear, beware the dark dwarves. ( man the fact I can make an evil dwarve which is what I'm playing as makes me so happy, I am spreading the plague as him. ^.^ next a elf barbain, because this game there is just so much you can be and do, heck maybe a mind goblin named Dez nuts.
Liked this video because it was just what I needed for entry into the game. Previously watched another RU-vidr's vid that might as well have been a seminar on quantum physics. Your video actually explained things for a beginner, concisely and without information overload while appreciating what a beginner will not know. Have added your other videos for 'tips' and so forth. Good job on this and thank you.
I am a dinosaur who used to play 20 years ago and want to come back to the gaming world. And it seems to me that this game was almost copied from Heroes of might and magic that we all loved back then. Don't see much difference, just different creatures and magics but exactly same idea.
..much better explanation tutorial. I dont what it is, but the English vibe gives learning reception better. The monotone of other narratives, puts one on dull mode, before your brain even begins to fester on things. It's like a wordy mess. Thanks for this. ..;)..
For me, civ 6 was the game that finally did it a month ago after trying the likes of hearts of iron, total war rome etc. Over the years. Didn't get the gig, but now I'm hooked and pre-ordered this game
Rts and 4x... I wouldnt conflate the two. Tbs is more about straregy. RTS is more about how good you are at hotkeying, selecting, real-time map awareness, actions per second, etc. I mean strategy plays a part too. But the guy with good hotkeys and fast mouse handling will likely stomp the snot out of a more laid back user even if their strategy wouldnt be any better.
Quick question about the ancient wonders: When you have cleared them, is it best to build an oupost on that tile? Or what is the most optimal thing to do?
So as far as I can tell trying you can build on the tile, you need to build one next to it and then build the work camp at the outpost to claim the province the wonder is on
I need this, I'm trying not to cheat after going from easily defeating the first realm to currently being close to being BODIED by the Frog Army in the Second Story Realm.😭
I rushed forward to meet Nimue before turn 30 with a Barbarian swarm. I'm hoping to win the Big Battle and knock her back into the Astral Sea, at which point I can start developing my realm in relative peace. Long as I guard my forward bases.
I came here AFTER playing 3 maps and learning on my own and this was excellently explained. It also confirmed that I had a decent grasp on everything. Well done and thank you.
I have played every single AOW since the first... but this one is definitely more obtuse than ANY other in the series. It's nothing like the previous games. plus they are using a piss poor optimized system. game was released undercook, which is resulting in a lot of people's comps getting OVERcooked.
Is there a way to easily see the movement and attack range of all enemies? Having to click on them individually and having to remember it all is driving me crazy. Its only made worse by the fact that the AI always stops just outside of my own range.
I wish there was kind of a crusader kings mechanic with a family tree kind of thing. Idk I think it would be cool to have kids. Keep in mind I just started playing
When you were showing your city and the options to choose a new province the options for each province was shown, how do you do that? On mine each province is a + sign and I have to click it to see the options. I'm on ps5 so may be it's just not an option.
This review made me buy the game on steam , realize I have Mac and it only runs on windows, have a quick panic, have a quick sad, followed by spending hours getting my computer up to date, installing windows 10, re installing steam, installing the game before it being too late and me being too tired to play. 10/10 Beginners guide.
I wish I knew the mechanics foe getting exp. Does killing blows help? Overall damage? Winning battles alone is too slow for trying to level up something like a spider hatchling so it evolves. I wanna know what I can to do focus the exp on evolving units and/or my heroes.
I like it much better than Planetfall. I also prefer the colorful aesthetic compared to 4 which looks deliberately tinted dark. I recommend the Chivalry mod on workshop which adds tons of units if you are into that.
Yes... Age of Wonders 3, specially with the expansions/DLC's is a great game. Been playing since the very first Age of Wonders ages ago, and they have been amazing :)
@@LordDivine1 I would like to start playing this genre of games. Heroes 3 was a little too hard for a beginner so maybe AoW 3 might be good. Can you recommend a cool guide to that game?
Thank you for the tutorial. I purchased this game a while back and was initially overwhelmed by the features. Because of your video, I'm going to give it another try.
The AI combat is hit-or-miss, I had a ~2000 combat (with T3 units and 2 level 6 heroes) vs 500'ish (level 4 hero) and I lost terribly, the enemy AI had almost all his T1 units still alive. Got it on video and was completely baffled
Hello and thank you so much for the awesome series of guide for this game. I have watched a good amount so far and it's been extremely helpful. I was wondering if you have any guide that elaborate on these specific subjects: 1. City Stability. I noticed that when we attach a new province to our empire, no matter what it is (food, quarry, forestier, gold mine, etc), it always comes with a negative -5 city stability and eventually it puts you at a deficit (depending if you play champion or wizard, it will come sooner or later). How do we manage city stability in general, especially early game? 2. Which buildings to focus on first? In plenty of your videos, you speak of the boosted perk from focus on specific provinces to unlock the boost for specific building but I have yet to find a video where you push a little bit deeper into this and explain, for example depending of your race or culture, which buildings you should focus first at the start of a game. I noticed as well that you only seem to be able to build one guild per city. Which guild should I focus on first? Is it all personal preferences? 3. Is it important if we lose a unit in a battle, especially early game? How easy is it to make money and replace units lost in battle? Will it put us behind compared to other players if we have to spend gold recruiting new units constantly? Thank you!
Jumbo, I purchased the game today as a break in between videos for my channel and your instructional videos have been just fantastic. Cheers mate. Much appreciated!
Just installed the game, thanks for putting this guide together mate- super clear and I loved how the topics were broken up. Feeling good about heading into my first play through! Edit: I got wiped out by wizard frogs.
I'm more or less brand new to 4x types of games. I've often viewed them as "Too much for my ADHD brain to handle" Would this be a good one to start with?
Mood. I often get distracted mid strategy and end up on tangents. I think AoW4 isn’t too punishing for that. I also think it’s probably one of the easier strategy games to pick up - certainly compared to Paradox’s other games.
@@JumboPixel Thank you for replying. This sounds like a great place for me to start then. My only 4x experience was a couple games of Civ V a while back. This looks more my speed. Plus, Rats aplenty! Thanks for all your videos on it! I think I'll give this a try tonight.
I made an underground dwarven empire and when I finally rose from the ground my entire army was in an evil rulers backyard needless to say easiest win of my life lol
Love the guide! I think excavation is worth going into as well since you have to use it to understand it. I will say though, auto combat sucks lol its fine if you want to take a bunch of damage but it constantly will kill off units you can easily save
@@WhiteErFox I had a great example last night. Huge fight, 18 v 20, game had me losing everyone but 2 units... I had only 2 units die lol. Its worth it to see what auto battle does for the time saved but it just takes so much more damage then necessary
God bless you for this tutorial. This is my first 4X game so it was definitely overwhelming for me in my first 2 hours. I had a general sense of what was going on but not enough on the details. Ty for this clarification; easy sub!
Thank you . The game does a HORRIBLE job at explaining the basics to you I’ve played till turn 105 and won by conquering everything but still felt I didn’t know how to play went to the next difficulty and got wrecked in 60 turns but actually lost around turn 40 smh
i used to play Civ Rev and Civ 4 all the time, I really miss playing 4x games like this. after finishing the video. I bought the game! and youve got another subscriber
A big questions I always have it how fast should you be expenading.. im going againts bots and by the time I have cleared my local area of infestations they already have tons of stuff set up.
Stacking transformations and enchantments with a leadership general can have armies of t1 troops ragdolling t5 mythic stacks, eventually you struggle to lose just because your basic troops have 60+ resists to damage, so far I've found if you want a really easy start then get the horde book, houndmaster is so unfair with it's free dog summon, it's like walking around with a 10-12 unit army right at the start, works with a chaos path too since winning fights gives you a free t1 troop, that's also buffed for being a t1 troop. Though a pure casting shadow/dark army can let you just become a magic cannon of spells, is it a caster?, well that's more casting points, did you cast a spell, well that's more stacking damage for casting a spell... quite a few ways to break the game with specialisations. Read what your empire development actually does, I was a dumb arse that didn't read the +1 city cap was repeatable, so.. read.
Great video, quick question. Why do some people have different Race: Society Traits that I can't choose; when I'm the same race? Also, "weapons." In your video you have the druid staff, I don't have that choice.
Hmmmm. Firstly, it could be DLC content? Second, you’ll unlock it with time. It might be a Pantheon unlock (completed with successful games), but I can’t remember off the top of my head tonight.
In age of wonders 2 and 3, you could craft custom items for your heroes. Is that still available? Planetfall didn't have it as it didn't match the sci fi style.
Planetfall is a fine game, but it's no AoW4, and it's much closer to Aow3 in feel, IMO. I love Planetfall and think it makes many other 4x games look like a booger, but AOW4 stands pretty far above even Planetfall. IMO, of course.
Great video man, liked! I played a dozen or so hours of Planetfall on Xbox, and it was confusing but I enjoyed learning it, but I never went back to it. Maybe I'll try this one instead?
even steeper learning curve I would say. though actually LESS deep in the long run. If you like learning new things, then moving on to the next thing because your ADD won't tolerate spending more than a hundred hours on one game? this game is perfect.
I had to play over a dozen hours I think before I knew what was happening in Planetfall lol, I never went back to it but I really should. Or try this one?
