Create durable, parchment-like maps, letters, signs, & more using a simple coffee-staining technique and a few other helpful hints from Deven Rue of Rue Ink.
Materials:
- 90 lb drawing paper
- 1 tsp instant coffee for every ounce of hot water
- parchment paper or surface protector
- Inkjet printer
- Ruler or straight edge
- Mod Podge Hard Coat Formula

We each have our own preferences, but I prefer to create the page I want to age, print it out, and then age the paper. As you said in your video, once the ink is set, it's set for life! I wish I could post a picture to show you, but I can't. It just seems to me that aging the paper prior to printing is a bit more risky, in terms of the possibility of it becoming stuck in the printer. Thanks for listening to a somewhat different technique than this one; I'm sure there is much to be said in favor of either one!

This was very helpful! Just found your YT channel from Critical Role showing off your amazing map tonight! Beautiful! I had tried staining regular printer paper with a few tea bags in a mug of water, but it came out much too light, so I'm glad I found your coffee method. I'll try this with cardstock instead. Thanks for sharing :)

Pour some of the instant coffee mix into a shallow painting tray (small) and use a small roller - you get a much better even coverage The roller cleans out easily and you can pour any unused mix back into the bottle.

Have two questions if you dont mind. First, how well would the sealing method work if white ink or paint was used to accent certain parts of the image? Second, do you seal both sides 2-3 times or just the side with the image?

The higher the # of Ragbond paper will give you better results.

video itself is interesting, but you´ve been brobably screwed by youtube as this is only video I´v encoutered that isn´t able to load fast enough and It is loading every couple seconds ... which is realy annoying. so sadly thumbs down
