Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, and their "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." co-stars describe the family dynamic they created in seven years and how difficult it is to say goodbye to the Marvel Universe.
Yep...season 1 and 2 was slow and quite boring, but they kinda rocketed high since season 3, man i am glad i kept watching this show, one of the best there is
I'm legit emotional about this. when Ming said "We have a small but active fanbase" in S5 I was like "THATS ME!" I love these characters, these actors, and the creative forces that have driven this show for years, Jed Wheadon and the writers take bold risks, they are always trying new things and they have kept this show fresh and relevant since it first aired. I am truly sad to see it go, but I know that it will be a satisfying end, that we can all be proud of.
The question would be: if this show is heavily connected to the MCU movies then. How would it have been the show if Joss Whedon had allowed it to continue until the Endgame events? Would the characters have been disintegrated by Thanos' snap? If I'm not wrong, in 5th season one of the Kree soldiers that wanted to recruit Daisy after Talbot went crazy due to the gravitonium he absorbed, mentioned that Thanos was already "raiding the Earth with his troops" and Thanos was finally introduced in the MCU in Infinity War so, it means that if the show had continued until the story reached the Endgame events, the characters show could have had a whole season (or maybe two seasons if we takd into account that Infinity War and Endgame were such great events to be covered up in just one movie) with a storyline centered around some of the characters being disintegrated by Thanos' snap while the remaining ones team up with some of the remaining Avengers to find answers to what happened and this could have been useful to introduce the Inhumans in some MCU movie in the future since Daisy would have played a huge part in saving the world from Thanos
@@95maferisturiz I think its been generally accepted now (And showrunners confirmed) that Agents of SHIELD take place in a different branching timeline, after S5 when they saved the Earth they created a new timeline that is separate from the events of Avengers Endgame and the Snapture. Also Joss isnt involved in MCU. hasnt been since Age of Ultron 2015.
@@timandafish So, it means that Endgame never happened in Agents of SHIELD. That could explain why Thanos hasn't been adressed anymore in the show or why the events that happened in Endgame don't seem to affect the show at all
@@95maferisturiz yeah, I mean its a bit sad because ABC had the support of the greater MCU in Seasons 1 and 2, but when Disney started consolidating all of their content to drive towards Disney Plus streaming service they cancelled all the Netflix shows and pulled support away from the ABC shows like Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD, so the creators of SHIELD found it more and more difficult to tie in their show with the larger MCU story beats, we got less cameos from MCU actors (remember when Nick Fury made an appearance?). So I think they just decided - lets do our own thing because it gives us more creative freedom. So Season 5 is its own departure from the MCU timeline that we see on the big screen, and I think Season 5 is some of SHIELDS best work
Well, we've got another year before the end of the show airs, so it'll hit us twice. Could Ming-Na really be an LMD? I can't believe those legs are 55.
i was just about to comment the same thing...i couldnt believe it when i just looked it up on imdb....i was really expecting her to be around 40...damn how i was wrong
I hate to see it go, but at least they ended it on their own terms. I do hope they will end it with a bang though, having a few surprises for us for season 7, especially the final episode of the series. Man, I really going to miss this wonderful cast. Their family chemistry and dynamic is very rare and wonderful to see! I genuinely love them...
True. And she still comes across so naturally, it doesn't feel forced. She just genuinely stayed this young...physically as well as in her mindset. I love her, she brings so much joy to this cast. I am going to miss them so much.
@@lailaazzoune6940 Mutant Enemy has one or two new shows in the works. The Nevers is shooting currently, I think, and I'm not sure what the current status of the vampire slayer legacy show is, but there's stuff in the works. It also seems reasonable to keep an eye on Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Jeff Bell to see what they specifically do next. Marvel-wise, there's a bunch of shows coming, including Ghost Rider. I'm not saying any one of these things will be a direct replacement for Agents of SHIELD, but there will be more stories springing from the same fountains.
Actually, this show has become my favorite part of the Marvel Universe. I will certainly miss it and I hope it stays on some streaming channel or channels so I can re-watch. It seemed the show was always on the verge of being cancelled and as sad as I am to see it go I am glad they can go out on their own terms. Great cast and and the show has evolved very well.
it is soo wierd to see ming smile lol . ps: one of the most well played series ever. the history, the play... well done! i really wish it never ends, im gonna re watch anyway :'D
Bitter sweet indeed. While I'd love to see more of this cast, I am pretty satisfied with our journey with them & I can say that they (as well as the Daredevil cast) are closer to my heart than 80% of the film characters. Not bringing down any of the film cast though, it's just that we've been through so much more with this team. From dealing with Hydra's infiltration; Inhumans; Ghost Rider; doing the 'What If' format in the Framework before this Disney+ series was even thought of; doing time travel before the Avengers did in Endgame; going into space; & of course the family, emotional, romantic, tragic, & comedic moments in between. I still hope Marvel Studios finds a way to make use of them like they did with Jarvis the butler. Maybe whenever SHIELD is present they can bring in some of these agents... Like May representing in Shang Chi, or FitzSimmons providing science support to Hulk or Peter in a later film, Mockingbird in the Hawkeye series, or freaking Daisy in ANYTHING. Daisy & Ghost Rider are two of the AoS characters that can really use some of that film level budget/effects.
It sad that it had to end. I really liked Phil Coulson and when he was killed in The first Avengers, I found myself asking I wished they didn’t kill him off. And when Agents of Shield was introduced and Phil was Alive again, I was hooked on to the series. I wish they could extend it.
@@gr8esthandleever Yeah he/she/it is one of those...Why come on here to antagonize people unless you need something to help you feel better about yourself. We all know why. No need to respond to that loser.
@@gr8esthandleever Yeah 7 seasons is fine with me, I'm glad the people behind the show didn't let it's quality diminish over the years. It's a real testament to everyone involved.
70 years old, *original* Marvel fan (FF#1 and a chocolate malt), LOVE pretty much everything about Agents of SHIELD right from S01E01. Terrific characters, character development, terrific actors - only just discovered S6 exists, so YAY!!! Excited to have TWO more seasons of AoS...
This show is one of the best things that marvel's ever done and yet it's so underrated. I really hope we at least get to see daisy cross over to one of the disney+ shows or the movies. She's such and amazing character and chloe deserves it
The reason agents of shield is being canceled or to be stopped is because they're becoming far more advanced than avengers could have ever been. Heck a time travel machine and a crazy space ship wow it's just amazing
Love the show. Started slow but I’ve been all in and will miss it. I’m rolling through it for the third time on RU-vid and I can’t stop watching it. It’s like how I watched Star Trek from being an early fan to even today. Shield lives on forever. I hope I get to meet one of the cast some day to say thanks for your work and dedication to the show I use to unwind.
I remember when I came across this show on Netflix and binge watched the first 5 seasons and then obviously 6 on ABC. Can't wait for season 7 but I hate to see them go. Good luck to everyone involved. Long live Coulson !!
Bird's Eye View you’re being deliberately obtuse enough to miss the 4 other white people being interviewed as well as the white interviewer, for the sake of a joke?
I remember way before season 6 premiered or was halfway during filming, that season 7 was a go. Season 7 being announced as the last one, knocked me out my chair.
For Ming to be 55, she is smoking hot!!!!!!!! Chloe and Elizabeth are hot also! I will miss Agents of SHIELD. I have been a fan since day 1. Thank you for everything!
Just watched the series finale and came across this. I was hooked since episode 1 and must say the finale was great! The only other show that gave me the same feelies when it concluded was Farscape. Thanks for the 7 years, you all did an amazing job!
Ming Na Wen is 55 - does not look a day over 40. It is nice how they truly like each other - it makes working so much better. Too bad this it for them - no more Agents of SHIELD after August 2020, and they won't be working together anymore soon as filming for season 7 is almost done (they filmed the two seasons back to back).
And, I hope one of those jobs entails being an official Avenger in the theatrical films. I'm still reeling from the fact that Phil Coulson never got to reunite and fight alongside with The (O.G.) Avengers in IW and Endgame.
Seriously! When I saw the trailer and the scene where the Avengers are all standing in the conference room, I thought, "THIS IS IT! Coulson's revealing himself!!!" Alas... :(
@@MatthewCraig0706 The problem was the time jump in the beginning if Endgame: 5 years after the events of Infinity War, nullified the plot devices needed to connect the A.O.S. w/ the movie narrative, because, it goes w/out saying, when the quinjet flew away from Tahiti at the very end of Season 5, it was clear that the group was going to have some play in what was going on in the film, esp. since Fury and Hill were already being briefed on it. Supposedly, Season 7 will show the agents involved with the occurrence of Thanos' "snap", and that will lead in to how -- if, at all, -- the team will figure into the Infinity War and Endgame events. It's just going to be so terrible (and a virtual waste of creative, narrative, and character energy) if all of these great characters become irrelevant in the theatrical MCU, and just get relegated to an alternate (yet related) timeline (like what's happened in Season 6, which makes it bit of a letdown to experience, as good as it is, because the timeline for these events don't, AT ALL, align w/ what's going on in the last Avengers films, and on the Earth of 2018 in to 2023). Daisy "Quake" Johnson is too interesting and powerful a character to NOT appear significantly in the Avengers films...and her absence at The Final Battle in Endgame was a near atrocity. There better be a REALLY GOOD, RATIONAL, BELIEVABLE explanation for why she, Yo-Yo, any other Inhumans, and the rest of the team weren't there in any shape of form. Otherwise, it's just poor world-building.
I really enjoy this show, and will miss it. I really wish the rest of the MCU would have given it it's due through the movies and even Netflix. Hope these characters show up again in the Disney+ shows at least.
Heart...BROKEN!!!! Not ready to say goodbye! It's been a fantastic run cast and crew! Looking forward...NOT to seeing it end...but seeing HOW you guys bring it home!
I don't think I've ever seen a Kevin Smith interview before, but I immediately loved this guy. He wears all his emotions on his sleeve and it's insanely refreshing. You can tell he's a genuine fan of the show/cast by the way he reacts to the show ending and is delighted by the way they all joke around with each other. The interview is fun, but he's always able to circle back to the questions at hand before things spin out too much. He's a wonderful mix of invested and profession that's just super fun to watch. He's seems like a really nice person, hopefully there's more Kevin Smith interviews with other shows I love! I know I just wrote an entire paragraph's worth of compliments to a random guy, but I really do think interviewing is hard (I assume, I've never done it before), and it's an underappreciated field.
I just got hip to this show a month ago. I watched one episode because I was bored then watched every single episode every moment I was free (even put Netflix on my phone). Gotta say I hated to see Grant Ward go (eye candy). But this was a fun ride. Bummer I'm so late to the party. And Clark Gregg finally stopped being Old Christine's husband for me around Season 3. Ha!
I am a huge marvel fan but I didn’t know about this show until last summer when I was watching Netflix b/c I would watch Walking Dead, Nikita, the office and total drama over and over and I kept seeing this in my what to watch and I ignored it but one day I was tired of rewatching those shows so I put this shows pilot on and fell in love. I binged season 1-4 that whole summer w/ my dad and then 5 when it released w/ my dad and it’s one of our all time favorite shows next to walking dead. I also got my best friend into this show and he loves it as well and still needs to see season 6, my dad and I watched season 6 over the weekend and I’m so sad to hear the news that this next season will be the last but I know that the show will end on a strong hopeful note and hopefully not a cliff hanger. I will never forget this show and like walking dead I’ll show it to my eventual children one day. I hope that Daisy, Jemma, Fitz and the others aren’t forgotten about in the yrs to come after this show wraps next summer. I know the cast will still hang out and post RU-vid vids as well as Instagram stuff to keep this shows life going even though we won’t be getting any new episodes but this cast is a gr8 family to watch what ever they do. Long live AOS!!
SERIOUSLY??? Once Upon A Time just ended and that was my favorite show, then 1year ago I discovered Agents of Shield and it became my absolute favorite show and now it's ending?!?!? NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I soooo loooooove this series.. Got hooked from the first moment I watched the first episode. Ming-Na so beautiful @ 55. So u were 35 when u did voice over in Mulan.. Much love too to AOS from Nigeria
II love Ming-Na so much. I would miss her scary stare a lot when/if the show is over. The show would not make any sense if i just edit and keep all her scene dialogue and fight. SHe is my favorite character on the show. I like her scene with Coulson too. I love their relationship.
Love this show!! I am actually glad shield is a tv show rather than a movie cause then I can see all those characters grow and be with them longer...I hope they can make a tv shoe out of culson and may!!!
I feel sad with the news but I just finished season 5 and killing Coulson was a big mistake. Although he came back as a different character I guess it was not the same. I certainly will watch season 6 and 7 and I’m going to miss the show. A show that grew and grew as the seasons went by. Excellent!
its very sad and unfortunate that they are ending this show. Its the one show that i came back every single season and episode shame on marvel and shame on disney
Neptune Solo I want to see her, Daisy, Mack, Fitz, Yo yo and Jemma in the movies b/c after season 7 some ppl will totally forget these characters existed and this gr8 7 yr long journey will be forgotten
6:19 that time when the white guy talks over the asian girl singling out the minorities in the group as a sign of diversity. They respond with a confused blank expression.
Disney I think I speak for all of us! Bring Marvel agents of shield back on the new streaming service. And back the movies more. You can’t end shield the leadership position can alsways be passed down
Mitchell B nah it wasn’t. Have u seen agents of shield and foo age of ultron they wouldn’t have gotten all those people off without the hellicarriar. Which Agent Collision provided to nick fury if you watched season 2 of agents of shield but you know that if you seen any of the shows. Sheild was in age of ultron so your wrong there by saying winter soldier
@@jerry2881 first season 2 was before winter soldier. second a major arc was the fall of shield and the ramifications for the AOS crew. third yea furry has access to a helicarrier but that is just him with private or spyish stuff. SHIELD as a official sudo government organization is dead and the name is associated with a wanted sudo terrorist group that is on the run. the carrier could also be under a SOWARD brash that we don't know about yet.
Mitchell B I guess you haven’t watched the show then all what you said is inaccurate I’ll send u the clip link from agents of shield episode that shows Shield had the aircraft carrier and they gave it to nick fury because he needed it to help the avengers. So the clip will support my claim can’t argue with a clip that out right shows it. Also season three is after the age of ultron movie I’m rewatching it now and I’m seeing how their discussing the devastation. Also season one was during the winter solider movie. Season 2 was between winter solider and three. In season 1 shield fell
