The amygdala is a part of the brain that stores sad, unpleasant and traumatic memories to protect you from those situations in the future (example: some people have phobia from water or the sea, because they had a very scary experience with it such as drowning. It’s the amygdala that holds on to that experience and makes you scared of the sea)
Amygdala in Latin from Greek, ἀμυγδαλή, amygdalē, 'almond' - that's why you see the other version/amygdala outside of the cycle (in the green, laughing) eating almonds, watching this struggle.
In a way, Amygdala serves to protect u by helping u remember your trauma and phobias so that u would do things to preserve urself. So it’s interesting Gameboyy mentioned how it sounded like yoongi was calling out to amygdala to save him. Because while in reality yoongi was asking for his amygdala to free him from these memories, yoongi also acknowledged in interviews about the song that the amygdala is supposed to protect the individual by holding onto the trauma. it's one of the ironic things in life...
Yes suga in the year of November 2020 he had a serious shoulder surgery , thats why when the members did a runbts episode they always had a picture of suga with them . Also gameboyy310 suga explains everything in the making of the video , I would suggest you should always watch the making of the video too , it’s really cool to watch and very helpful . He said in his vlives that he use to get shots in his shoulder when he had to perform on stage and one time he was on stage and he could not raise his arm anymore , and that’s when he discussed it with the members and doctors and said it’s best to have the shoulder surgery , if you watch his vlives he did when he was at home during recovery he let us know how his therapy was going . His recovery took 2 months but he still was not able to participate in a lot of physical activities in the runbts episodes . 💜💜💜
That's not true stop spreading misunderstandings. AMYGDALA is not holding onto your trauma. It is teaching your body how to react during things your brain sees as dangerous. For example if u burn yourself by touching hot pot AMYGDALA sort that memory and then gets ur brain a signal not to touch anything hot therefore learning. Mostly its major center of emotions that links to other thinks such as memory or learning. If its abnormal it can lead to depression or anxiety because of the chemical imbalance.
Yes the car accident was real. His shoulder went under the wheel of the vehicle. He was scared to tell the company at the time because he thought they would have kicked him out of the group. He went a few weeks with a dislocated shoulder. The choreographer noticed that he wasn't able to move properly during dance practice and they pulled him aside and he told them everything, and they paid for his medical expenses. What's crazy is that he told the other members that he fell down the stairs and that was how he injured his shoulder. He told the guys a few years later what really happened and that he was actually hit by a car. He shoulder was damaged and he would get injections before concerts because of the pain front he intense choreo. He finally got surgery on his shoulder back in 2020.
He also told the company that he fell down the stairs. Because when he was delivering food he was essentially moonlighting. He didn't want to get in trouble and be kicked out of the group by the company. He told the guys later then eventually the company. They were sympathetic and paid for his surgery and also his school. That is why he was moonlighting to pay for school.
@@djlivvy46 yeah because if they kicked him out then all the things they had done as seven members would have to be changed. He also didn't want to be fired because he was originally hired as a song writer and producer.
I believe both of Yoongi's parents are still alive from what I've heard. And I just wanted to point out that Yoongi danced some very difficult choreography while in pain FOR YEARS before he finally got shoulder surgery. He is an amazing man who has come through so much and is still a beautiful soul. He definitely has a lot of strength.
@@kookiedough5666 the first surgery you were talking about was in 2013 when his appendix was removed. It took him 8 years to get a surgery (which was in 2020 )for his shoulder cause he can't bear it anymore.
@@bangtan3861 Not just that he couldn’t beat it anymore- he waited until bangtan was on a serious break!! He didn’t want to slow down the group 🥺 And he did get surgery for his shoulder in 2013, kind of- he waited too long to get it looked at after the accident so it had partially healed incorrectly
Nurse here: first of all, artificial heart valves make a ticking sound, so I imagine that is what he is talking about when he references her heart ticking. Also, pregnancy can cause a vatiety of heart problems, so I presume that the need for heart surgery the year he was born may have been caused by his mom carrying and delivering him. I believe this is why it is a point of pain for him even though he doesn't remember it happening. This song is one of my very favorites. Thanks for the reaction!
My heart problem during my pregnancy was Mitral Regurgitation and the doctor said I can't make it.Thanks God I survive and delivered my sweet daughter and she is 13yo now.
I still can't make it through this MV without crying. It pulls up all of my own trauma. But seeing how Yoongi has the courage to face his own trauma give me courage to face my own.
Yes!! Me too. I will forever be OT7 but I also make a point to say I did connect with Suga first when I was trying to figure out who BTS was because the first story thing I came across was a story of Suga talking about dealing with depression and anxiety.
You understood the video correctly 👍And yes, the car accident was real. He injured his shoulder badly while working part time as a delivery boy during his trainee years. He didn't mention to anyone because he thought the company would kick him out of the group if they find out about his shoulder pain because they were dancing every day. You have to listen to his song "The Last" to completely understand what happened to him 👍 The good thing is he always make sure we know he overcame these difficulties and many fans say these songs are very relatable and helped them out in their own hardships 💜
You choose the right words, Yoongi's story is one of the ones that leaves me thinking and moves me the most of all the artists I know, although the idea of yoongi's mental health still makes me sigh and be a little afraid, I don't know :(
@@RonnieSaint416 The fact that Yoongi has made it through all of this, and has reached a place of inner peace, is hugely comforting to me. The fact that he's recovered so much, both physically and mentally, makes him a role model to those of us who struggle with mental health issues and other traumas. Min Yoongi's vulnerability about his struggles, and his reassurances, have saved more lives than we'll ever know.
actually yoongi didn't told the company bcs he thought they will spend more money on him when they haven't even debuted and the company didn't had much money that time but later the company get to know about it and paid for his treatment
Yes...The Last...lyric video...will help you know what all he went thru. There's part of it that got bleeped out. Its the part where the doctor asks him if he's ever tried to hurt himself or suicide...and he says I've have in the past
also yeah i love that they included a suicidal and self harm image warning, and also it’s quite reassuring to have one of your biggest idols express that side of them where there isn’t many doing that. it’s a really touchy topic but also it provides a sense of reassurance that someone you see at the top living what you think is a great life has actually dealt with, even while being successful. helped some see him but also helped some of us feel seen too.
I evaded this video since day 1, once army started to explain the meaning behind it I felt like it was too much to me, I didn’t watch it until today, with you. And thank you, I felt like I was not alone watching it and the comment about “i wanna bounce to your trauma bro” really made me laugh LOUD. Thank you very much for your respect to Yoongi, I respect you.
Damn that’s coo..so we watched for the first time together…even tho I’m like SUPER late..i definitely don’t disregard how triggering this mv could be for some. So I do understand you being reluctant
Oh, I definitely understand your feelings. It was not first time I watched this, but it's definitely tough video and song. So from time to time it awakes my own difficult emotions and sometimes I'm not ready for that. Today I was ready to pouring it out. And I was soooo grateful to this guy for his jokes that pop up sometimes in the middle of nowhere😂😅 that helped me a lot and SUPPORTED ME A LOT, REALLY. was like good therapy, when I didn't drown into pain, but just releasing it and in correct moment go back to surface. Sooo. My biggest thanks for guiding us in this video. I was going from bursting crying to bursting laughing😅😂😂 thank you very much, broooo🤜🤛
We can´t escape from our past nor our memories. So in the end there´s always a version of us forever stuck in our minds. Although we wish we could save that version of ourselves, we can only watch.
Yes, this whole song is autobiographical, his accident, and Mom and Dad's health issues. It's how his "Agust D" persona came to be. The Amygdala is the part of the brain responsible for storing all our trauma memories so we know how to deal with them the next time they happen. So if you watch the MV's: the trilogy is "Agust D", "Daechwita" then "Haegum." Then "Amygdala" is like the prequel to this, also showing his mental health struggles, OCD, depression. So he's been weaving up this whole storyline for the past 3 years. Just Brilliant.
Amygdala is part of the brain that processes traumatic memories. It is shaped like an almond. So one of Suga's characters in the music video is eating almonds. There is a Korean novel called 'Almond' that both Suga and RM read that is about a young boy whose amygdala wasn't functioning properly. The boy's mother kept giving him almonds to eat thinking that would make his amygdala function better.
This MV was hitting low and hard. So thankful to SUGA to share his trials and suffering through his art, and also thankful of honest and appreciating musicians like you reacting to it.
Thank you for the great reaction. I knew you would treat this video with the respect that it deserves. If you check out AgustD, his first mix tape, it also explains a lot. Everyone else will explain what Amygdala is, but I just wanted to say thank you. The beat change in the middle of the song always gets me. There’s a note in the Doolset Lyrics about Amygdala, it’s just in green. There’s another note there about Interlude: shadow which is a kick ass SUGA song along with Interlude: persona by RM and Outro: EGO by Jhope. All great rap line songs and all delving into the psyche. I hope you don’t feel rushed reading the Doolset lyrics. Really, take your time if you want to. We’ll watch.
Your dialogue is why I love your reactions! Go as indepth or into as many theories/breakdowns as you like. It's much better and fulfilling than watching someone merely listen to the music. Keep on talking 😊

Amygdala - explains the creation of the Agust D persona (fresh scar)! Daechwita getting rid of older version of Agust D. (scar is healing in the modern version of him in the video). Haegem, getting rid of the anger in Agust D - freeing himself. The scar is gone at the end. 💜 Suga is amazing 💜

It's all real. He had an accident when he was a trainee (delivering pizza I think). He was too afraid to tell bighit as he thought they'd can him. As you can imagine, it caused him a lot of pain and finally, when he was living on painkillers, he finally had surgery - he was out of action for a few months. Oh and...A - MIG-DA-LA is how it's pronounced. It's a small almond shaped part in you brain where trauma is processed (or not in some cases). The Yoongi in the room is the traumatised one who became AGUST D. It's a trilogy ..... Dechwita then haegeum then amydala -
Amygdala is the part in the brain that responsible about protect you from danger by collecting all the trauma His mum had surgery when he was young , she's alive During bon voyage he had to leave the program and go back to Korea after he knew the news about his dad And the car accident happened before the debut (he was a delivery guy ) and he don't tell anyone about it even the company , he was in pain in silence , living on pain killers to give us the perfect performance :'( , and 3 years ago he had the surgery to fix his shoulder
Thanks for your reaction. I love this song, is my favorite of the album. It made me cry because is tells part of Yoongi's traumas Much of the video refers to an accident Suga suffered shortly before debuting in 2012 while working as a delivery boy to pay for his studies while he was a Bighit trainee. At first, he told his group members that he had fallen from the stairs, but in reality a car hit him when he was riding his bike and he says that after falling he saw that his head was almost under the wheels of the car. Suga did not want to reveal the truth to the agency because he thought they would reject him, after a while he had to say it because his shoulder had been dislocated as a result of the accident and did not heal well becaused of lack of treatment and rehabilitation. Eventually the company paid his treatment and his studies... after debuting, he had injections and therapies for years until he could not postpone his surgery because over time and being an idol with intense choreography, the injury worsened so he underwent surgery for the pandemic and was offstage for about 4 months while he recovered In other songs he's released in the past as Agust D, on mixtapes for Soundcloud, he talks about his depression, social anxiety and panic attacks...it's the first time he's commented on his mom's heart surgery and the liver cancer that his father had. He found out about his dad's cancer while he was fulfilling his schedule with BTS (which has been very tight and demanding and he probably could not be with his father as long as he would have wanted due to being under contract and his corresponding obligations) When the wound is inflicted on the face, I think it seeks to reflect how it has hurt itself in the past (the mind of a depressed person, we already know that it hurts itself a lot and he mentioned in one of his songs that he have thought about s*u*i*c*i*d*e in the past) and I also think it represents the birth of your alter ego Agust D which would allow him to externalize his shadows in parallel to BTS When he says: I don't know your name, I think he refers to himself... to that shadow in his unconscious mind... in his song "The Last" he mentioned that his father told him they didn't know him... and he commented that if he did not know himself, how would other people would get to know him? and he also mentioned that sometimes he was afraid of himself In Haegeum, the one who is the chief of police is the one who killed the tyrant king in Daewchita, who has now become corrupted with power... For me it symbolizes Suga's shadow, which is in his unconscious mind due to his traumas and which he seeks kill whenever he feels he is taking off and gaining more power... a part of him reveals himself to the re-installation of the tyrant and kills him By the end he is rushing to save himself but he can't open the door, to my is becaused Agust D represents his traumas lodged in the past... and the past cannot be changed 🤔 Although I think that now at this moment he is more at peace with himself, it seems that during the pandemic that shadow returned for a while like many other people who found themselves in a dark place during that period but finally he was able to heal more of his wounds and that is why D-Day arrives This song is inspired by a book that Yoogi read called "Almond", is about the story of a young man with a disease that prevents him from recognizing and expressing emotions, and which is associated with an undergrowth of the cerebral amygdala, usually the size of an almond. It's a story about growing up, discovering yourself, and accepting that help doesn't always come where we expect it Regards from México
Amygdala is the part of our brain responsible for processing all our emotions/feelings and our fight or flight response!! It stores all our traumatic memories and the emotional significance of those events. There's a book called "the almond" (yoongi recommend it once) that talks about a boy with an undeveloped amygdala, which means he's unable to identify or express his feelings. Including suffering and pain. So i think when yoongi's saying "my amygdala please save me" he's basically begging not to feel anything at all, just like the little boy in the book, cause that would be so much easier than dealing with everything.
Let me add a little to this and say the amygdala is often described as the same size as an almond (hence the book name) also throughout the video yoongi is seen eating almonds kinda like a way to signify how he wants to jog his amygdala
Yoongi described the amygdala as a closet where you throw in all of your trauma. it is a part of the brain that is shaped like an almond. Yoongi made this song to represent that he looked inside that "closet" and was able to see what he had there and now he can move on. He's not a person that is tied to all these struggles that he suffered. His mother didn't pass away fortunately, he still has a good relationship with both of his parents today :) and yes he had an accident when he was a trainee, he worked pass-time as a delivery boy. After he had the accident, he tried to hide the injury from the company because he was afraid that he might get kicked out of the group, but when bang pd (BigHit's CEO) found out, he paid for Yoongi's hospital bills and for his university fees. Yoongi had to go through so much pain after the accident, he got shots for the pain every time he had to do concerts when bts was on tour, but he finally got surgery done in 2020 and his shoulder doesn't hurt anymore :)
People who have gotten this surgery have said it never stops hurting but it hurts less than before. It has made him a little stiffer and less mobile when it comes to dancing. But it is an improvement from the pain of before.
@@Yunkikihihi yoongi did say his shoulder doesn't hurt anymore but he does have a record of lying about his health not to make us worry, i truly hope he's okay. he said he did the surgery to serve properly in the military and he's exercising a lot so for sure he's way better after the surgery.
The room means all the hardships and trauma he had in the past and haunted him till then. Thank god he finally crossed the door in the last Final Tour. We were happy for him. A must-see concert.
Hello there thank you for your love and support for me and my career🎼, I hope that you will not stop supporting me😊💕💕 I am really very pleased that all of you have been around all these years of my career.I appreciate your support and warm comments, I want to say thank you very much I humbly appreciate you, and also have a blessed week God bless you✌️✌️ where are you from…? 💞🎼🪕🫂🌺💐
He also mentioned in his Disney+ documentary on the process of making this song. He finds it hard since he needed to bring back all those traumatic memories to complete the song but he did mention that it’s part of his healing process to face these emotions and traumas and be able to control it rather than the other way around. But what’s for sure now is that he’s doing perfectly fine 💜✨
All the events really happened.. the accident messed his shoulder up, he kept it secret.. the company eventually found out started getting him help for it but his shoulder eventually gave up (During Black Swan) and he had to have surgery to fix it.. Also, all his parents health issues.. I think I read somewhere he found out during schedules..
Also, you’re spot on about the video, the couch is in his head.. The Amygdala is an almond shaped part of the brain responsible for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli… he’s begging his Amygdala to save him..
This is why I love you as a reactor! You're so intuitive to what he's trying to convey! His mom is okay and so is dad. They were not really supportive at the beginning of his career but have since supported him 100 percent. He's over come so much, it took years of counseling and the love of his brothers in BTS as well as his older blood brother he's persevering! This is why ARMY is so protective of the boys. I truly connected to him when I heard his song The Last, I lost my older brother to suicide in August of 2014 and that helped me to cope and understand what it was my brother might have been going through. Then I lost my Madre, my rock and my best friend on January 17th 2022, and their song Spring Day is helping me to work through my grief. I don't know how I would've made it through anything without this group 😢. I drove over 8 hours twice, once for Lollapalooza to see Jhope and once for Agust D in Chicago and it was worth every second. I hope to one day be able to see all the boys together. If you have not reacted to Spring Day I highly recommend it and the Italian Army explanation video afterwards and you will see how emotionally charged that song is and why it still charts even now. It has been a comfort for millions! Borahae 💜 my friend!
Yes, Min Yoongi had shoulder surgery in 2019-20 due to his injuries sustained pre-debut in 2013. Amygdala ( ah-mig-dal-lah) is the almond shaped part of the brain that stores our base instincts, thoughs for example, basic emotions, our 'Fight and Flight response. The trilogy is only between the THREE albums: Agust D - The Last D-2 -Detcwita D-Day - Hegaeum Pill popping refers to how either self-medicated or psychotropic drugs (pills or shots) could be used to balance one's altered brain chemistry. Mental health is a subject SUGA has addressed in his music, lyrics throughout his SOLO mix-tapes.
To my knowledge, Yoongi never said that he took psychiatric medication. I believed this was the pain medication he was on for years following his accident.
@@lbg2memh5530 you said “pill popping refers to how either self-medicated or psychotropic drugs could be used to balance one’s altered brain chemistry”
The accident was a very big thing in his life. Because of that accident he had shoulder pain for YEARS. He couldn't tell anybody because he was scared they would reject him for being a part of BTS. And he performed very hard choreo in that much pain. His mom is still alive but her heart...I think she has heart issues. Because of these painful things he suffered through depression. Even considering that final act. I am thankful to him for finding the strength to stay with us. He found that strength from the support and love from BTS and ARMY. His life is so precious to us. He gives us sooooo much.
Pronounced A-mig-da-la. FYI - this accident actually happened right before they debut. He delivered food to make some money to buy food for the members (BigHit was a poor company so they didnt make money and at the time his family didn't support his choices to pursue music). His shoulder was crushed under the wheel of the car. It was inches from his head he told us. Keep in mind, ALL videos we see him perform the choreography he had a busted shoulder. He was scared that BigHit would kick him out so he didnt tell anyone until like a couple years later. They then gave him his first surgery (for the time). He finally got his FINAL surgery in 2020 after he performed the ON MV in LA. As someone who actually had my clavicle and rotor cuff repaired, we are NEVER the same. I have a 15% disability (can't lift over 10lbs over my head) and weather changes kill me in pain. I give it up to Min Yoongi for doing all he did with that pain. He is a strong dude.
This song became my fave in "D-day" for many reasons... I also wept on my 1st watch... Every imagery here does represent a reality, and yes his parents both suffered health issues, the lyrics are true. His accident was more serious than ofc represented here, he went under a truck while doing his job as a courier to pay off his college debts in secret, when he was a trainee at Bighit. His shoulder got smashed and he hid it from the company, in fear of losing the trainee spot, gave other reasons as to why he was absent etc. But the company said they'll wait for him. Thankfully when they found out, they paid off his debt, and in 2020, he finally had his surgery because it was getting harder for him to perform under that much pain. Story here is basically him living through all the bad memories over and over again and he had said he "chose" to scar himself by accepting those traumas as weaknesses, but then he embraces the past since he cannot change it and instead turns those memories into smth he can re-visit to empower himself, and to push himself (as you can see from the Suga eating almonds - instead of pills -, which represents rebirth, growth and overcoming struggles in Chinese culture, and is also where the "Amygdala" name comes from, Greek for almond, name of the part of the brain that stores traumas for survival instincts basically, shaped like almond)
Suga really did have a bad accident on his scooter while he was working as a part-time delivery person before debut because he needed money to pay his school tuition. He talks about this in BTS's documentary Burn the Stage. The accident really messed up his shoulder, he suffered from the pain for years and finally had surgery in 2020 to fix it.
His ability to write some of the most raw and real traumatic parts of his life over a hot beat is… unreal. It’s why we go so intensely for him he’s taught through his own pain how to start to process our own traumas. He’s admitted in other songs about being suicidal and more. He has studied psychology and has said he’d like to help others as a counselor but uses music to such a strong affect. This isn’t an MV that you rewatch hype like Daechwita or Haegum but the concept of how he showed things is as detailed visual storytelling as those two. It’s very brave and I respect him so deeply. Also his acting skills truly blow me away.
There’s a lot here to unpack. First, yes Yoongi’s mother is doing fine now but she did have heart surgery when he was born. Second, the motorcycle accident happened when Yoongi was a trainee at BigHit (at the time, BigHit was almost bankrupt) and he was working 2 jobs while also being a trainee. Yoongi has said that there were days that he had to decide to eat or to be able to take the bus.. He worked as a food delivery driver. And he was driving in the rain, and he had an accident where he hurt his shoulder. He was afraid to tell the company that he hurt his shoulder. But all the dancing gave him so much pain, he was taking pain killers pretty much constantly. He did have surgery on this shoulder, finally, during the pandemic, when they had a break from touring and performing.
@@sandychin1326 there was a food delivery driver that mentioned years ago that when he was delivering food to BTS and it was raining, Yoongi specifically mentioned to him to drive safely cause it was raining 😢

To add to what people have written below, Yoongi worked as a delivery boy while BTS were trainees because they were so poor. He was hit by a car and he said when he opened his eyes the tire was inches from his face. When he got back to the dorm, he told the other members that he fell down the stairs and they just found out rather recently. He was in so much pain but danced like nothing was wrong, which was an unbelievable feat, and hence the painkillers as well. He was afraid that he would be kicked out of the group if the company found out about his injuries because they were practicing 16 hours a day. He recently had surgery and you can see how much he was missed on stage by the things the members did to keep him there. His story is worth looking into. .His mom had the surgery right after Yoongi was born and Yoongi was sent to be raised by his grandparents for a while. His father got sick while BTS was on a world tour. The scar--Yoongi said he wanted to symbolically show that our scars are self-inflicted. Yoongi also tried to take his life while a trainee. It's a lot but he truly looks and sounds happy now! 💜 Borahae! Happy Festa !!!!!! BTS's 10-year anniversary is on Tuesday. 💜🎈🍷🎶💕💜
this summarises it all really well. he carried the shoulder pain for 9 years or more, i'm so glad he finally got the required treatment. amygdala really speaks to me, it's such a beautiful raw song
Suga has gone through alot his accident, shoulder surgery, appendix surgery, OCD, depression, mom's heart surgery, dad's liver cancer, my god and still he care about armys alot he give us what we want he also said that he's alive bcz of us. I love this man so much!
Yea yoongi had an accident back when he was debuting because in order to support himself he worked as a delivery driver and he hurt his shoulder but didn’t tell the company because he was afraid they would take him out. He recently got shoulder surgery to correct it though 😊
His accident caused shoulder pain for a long time until he had surgery a few years ago. The amygdala is the part of our brain that retains traumatic experiences. He's really opened up with his personal trauma with this one. ARMY is so protective and proud of our Yoongi for his courage in sharing these things. Thank you for treating this reaction with care. 💜
In the last concert of his tour, after he sang his last song, a door appeared, he then opened the door and walked through the door to close his first chapter and joined military service.
There is a reason why Suga ended his recent Suga/AgustD show with this song (before the encore part). You went to this show. At the end of the song performance he is carried off the stage by the dancers. To some extent this is the closing of the trilogy of AgustD, the alter ego Yoongi created to cope with the anger, pain and trauma he was experiencing.
Yeah, Amygdala is basically a prequel to the first two songs. It just explains the origin of how this alter ego of Agust D was born. Yoongi said himself that the scar represents the self-inflicted pain that we as people do when we experience trauma. I don't believe Yoongi did physically self-harm but it was emotional and psychological. You know how we sometimes feel like victims of trauma and that can cause us to hold ourselves back from healing and happiness. Regarding the pill-popping, when Yoongi had his bike accident, he mentioned that because he was so scared to get kicked out of the group, he didn't report it and instead said he "fell". And since had to endure the pain of the injury throughout his whole career. He mentioned that he took painkillers for years because of it and once the pain was no longer responding to the medication and it was hard for him to lift his arm, that's when he ended up getting surgery during the pandemic (2020). I feel like Amgydala and the whole album of D-Day was cathartic for Yoongi as he's said in recent interviews that this version of him is no more and he's grown emotionally. He really is a lotus flower. PS> Both of his parents are still alive
Once again you give so much respect to Suga and this song. Trying to understand what he’s saying. Some of your insights are right on. The Amygdala is a part of the brain which is responsible for Processing frightening and traumatic stimuli. When Suga was still a trainee before they debuted he was working as a scooter delivery guy to make money for tuition. He didn’t tell the company or even the other members about the accident that broke his shoulder. He was afraid he would be cut. He said he fell down the stairs. Years later he told them and it was caught on camera. When the company found out apparently they paid his tuition . aRMY correct me if I have anything wrong. he took3 months off in 2020 to get surgery on his shoulder (the MRI images are in the video) as the pain had become unbearable.
Yes, Yoongi was very poor in the past, and he used to work a delivery job before debuting in bts, but one day he got in a very bad accident that completely crushed his shoulder, he said that when he opened his eyes the car wheel was literally in front of his face
Just recently found your channel! I've been really enjoying your reactions! Just wanted to add that on Yoongi's final day of his tour, at the end he usually just walks off the stage and you probably saw on your show, but this time, for the last show, the white door appeared and we finally get to see Yoongi walk through that door and "escape". My mind was totally blown away when i saw that. A lot of us realized that the stage for the concert was actually mimicking the "mind"/ the room in Amygdala. So the songs and concert and then finally walking through the door at the very end, shows that he is taking the next step away from his past and looking into the next chapter! Absolut genius in my opinion. (sorry not sure if i explained it well, but man it was sooo impactful)

when it comes to newer releases, it’s difficult to find explanations from doolset because they take a while to explain things as they have a whole album to work on!! doolset is better for releases that came out at least half a year ago or more tho!!!!
You have to be a special kind of good person to go through all of that bullshit for the first 25 years of your life, not only in your family life but in your career, and still manage to be kind and loving and optimistic and try to heal yourself. He is so admirable.
At the age of 9, my son started living inside his amigdala. It started when his father left and never turned back. It kept him trapped there, while he struggled to escape that black abyss. I stood on the outside, helpless, praying I would not lose him one day to self-distruct. He is 39 now and has learned to manage his life, so when I followed Yoongi's story, he stole my heart, and I sobbed while watching this video, and still cry every time I see it. He said one time, the bond he has with his BTS brothers saved his life. Along with my son, he is in my prayers daily. I love the passion you have for your craft, thank you.
His parents never supported his dreams and hard work. They recently went to a concert and have accepted his career choice. He saw them in the audience and fell to his knees face down and cried. They finally accepted him. That’s all he ever wanted. Beautiful moment! You can search it on youtube!

It’s crazy how long Yoongi performed all their hard choreography with his shoulder injury. Literally put up with it for years and years before finally getting surgery. He was getting shots for it at every tour stop. I have mad respect for him.
Watching at 15:32 screaming at my screen, scroll up! Scroll up!! You passed the explanation for Amygdala!!😂 At 18:24, you can actually see the explanation for Amygdala in the search results for Doolset. You are the only reactor I check youtube everyday to see if you posted. Thank you for your reaction!!! Love it!
This is his mind…. The birth of Agust D! All those scenarios happened to him. I’m so glad he survived those things. It would be a sad world without him 😢
Not sure if anyone shared this, but you touched on so much of what he is getting at! The cutting of his face is representative of self inflicted scars. He said we cause our own scars in an interview. Also, he was trying to escape his own mind. You got that right. And in the other videos he was killing off parts/versions of himself that he removed from his life. He's gone through so much growth and evolution as a person. He's come a long way from that young man who had such anxiety he couldn't come out of the bathroom and they cancelled a concert. His lyrics in Agust D songs really capture so much! If you get a chance, check out First Love live. One of my all time favs!
Suga once said that he hated it when people knew things about his private life. This song really shows that. I can't even imagine the pain he must have felt growing up knowing that his mother's health issues started the year he was born. I get why Augst D is a trilogy and why he was so angry in the past when relatives said he would ruin his family doing music. He has such a burden already but music was all he loved to do so he was under so much torment. He was made to feel like he would not be able to take care of his parents as time went along. " in my ears I could hear the sound of my mother's life ticking away" Damn a tear slipped down. Part of his loneliness was that he could not tell anyone about his mother and father's health issues in a prison he built for himself. I am so glad he has music and songwriting to take it all in and let it all go. Snooze is my favourite song that made me cry first but this song.... I finally get who agust D is, he is someone that allows Suga and Yoongi to be his truest and rawest self. Agust D has fulfilled the mission, it is done.
He is not killing a version of himself in this video. In Daechwita and Haegum you see how he chooses to reinvent himself. The scar represents trauma and each time he decides to change the trauma scar heals a bit. In this song he investigates how the trauma he endured shaped his decisions. He mentioned how he came to the conclusion that how you react to experiences that are out of your own control dictates if you get scarred from it and how severe it is. In the trilogy you see him get rid of rules and conventions he obeyed because of the experiences he had shown in this last video. He shows not only how your experiences can scar and shape you but also that you can get free from them.
I like your reactions so far, it's genuine. Both his parents are well today, he felt the guilt because his mom had to undergo heart surgery after giving birth to him (or after he was born), he was only 2-3yo then and i believe as a child such trauma does impact you. And then during BTS debut days, he had to work multiple jobs while training as an idol. One of which is a delivery boy and one day he met with an accident, hurt his left shoulder but he could not tell anyone for fear of losing his place to debut with the team. We see how high impact and fast BTS dances are and he had to persevere through these years doing these dances with an injured shoulder. Only until 2020 did he have the time to finally undergo surgery for this. This is just one story from one member.. this is why Armys love BTS and protects them so much, they are very worth it.
I’m not sure I’m the only one, but I cry every time I I watch this MV it eats my heart out for his troubles and life issues and his parents! I get so sad because he had suffered a lot for people to just come and throw shade and hate to him… it’s very hard and difficult to not cry knowing those things that he lived through at such a young age. 😢 I can’t stop Crying while watching this, idc what my children say. I cry out like a baby seen This MV. 😭💜
AMYGDALA = Ah-Mig-Dala Hi GameBoy hyung, thank you for your excellent and respectful reaction to "AMYGDALA". Min Yoon-gi/Suga/Agust D has never been ashamed to voice his life experiences through his music. The car accident when he was a BTS trainee and delivered food to support himself since he had very little money virtually destroying his left shoulder which was fixed in 2020. He has been open about his Mental Health, past substance addiction, and family issues hoping to help others facing these issues. Mental Health and teen issues have been one of BTS's goals throughout their 10 years. Sir, I really enjoyed your reaction and Congratulations on a job well done. 💖🐨🐹🐿🐱🐥🐻🐰💜 #BTS #BTSARMY, #BORAHAE
Such a powerful MV. My interpretation - Aside from him sharing his past, shaping who he is, he's showing us how that past trauma created (fresh wound which is the scars in the other videos) the Agust D persona (which he used to release music expressing the things he was going through outside the 'idol' image), Daechwita is him getting rid of an older version of Agust D (you can see the scar healing in the more modern Suga in the video), then Haegem getting rid of the anger that was Agust D- freeing himself (scar is gone at the end). Just my thoughts. Also, yes he was in a motorcycle accident and he couldn't tell anyone because it was during his trainee days and he might have been released from his contract with BigHit if they thought he couldn't continue. So he hid it from everyone. If you haven't looked it up yet, Amygdala is a part of the brain that stores the experience of emotions (emotions from past traumas are stored there).
This song saved me. I had the worst year in 2010, and it's helped me heal my soul. Both my dogs died of lymphoma, both my parents died of cancer, and my best friend died of pneumonia all within a month. Suga's line "what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger" is inspirational.
The amount of frustration I got everything he didn't just hit Google up 4 the meaning of amygdala, omgggg 😭😭 Other that that I really appreciate the reaction and all the thought you put into it 💜

a few pointers that might help: 1. amygdala is the part of the brain that stores trauma, so here he is pleading for it to "work" properly so that he can overcame it. he is also seen eating almonds through out the mv because in the book "amygdala" by Won Pyung Sohn, the authors mom is giving him almonds to eat in order to make his brain work properly and help him get over his trauma 2. his talking about the motorcycle accident he had at 18 during his part time job as a delivery boy, when he was a trainee. from that accident he received a solder injury that he got treated a few months ago. he has talked about this accident before and how he couldn't say anything to his management because he thought he would lose his job, but we found out though this song about his parents.. (they are both alive btw) 3. his has talked in more detail about his depression, social anxiety and ocd in an older song called "the last". its a song from his first solo mixtape that's very graphic and intense, i would love to see your reaction to it but it is a very had pill to swallow but yeah hope this helped
This is why Yoongi is so amazing because despite everything he went through, the messages in his songs are always about validating your feelings and about perseverance. He's also never shyed away from speaking about the serious and the "taboo" topics. In my opinion, it's like through his music, he's telling us that everything will be okay no matter how bleak things may be at the moment. One of the best examples of this is in Snooze, because there's a lyrics that goes, "It's all gonna be all right"
I love your reactions to our 7 normal boys from Korea. Yes both of his parents are still living. Theres a recent photo of both of them with yoongi at his brother's wedding. A truky beautiful family.

One thing that i haven't read was that no one has mentioned as much as he lived and cared for his parents, they were VERY against him rapping! Even while in BTS. It wasn't until he saw his parents one of the BTS concerts, he fell to his knees and cried ❤

I know what you mean the beat versus the content of the song. That's BTS music, it's like that. They're talking about some real stuff with music you can dance and bounce to. That's not the first time someone has said that.
I can’t watch this video without crying!!! Yes He was a delivery boy and a car did hit him. He didn’t tell anyone and just said he fell down some stairs because he was scared. He finally told them and had to had surgery and didn’t perform for awhile so he could heal!!! I love that he trusts us enough to share his past and his pain!!! To let us know that he made it through all of his trials and tribulations!!! He is a strong and amazing person!!! 💜🫰🏻

"which version are you killing?" It's actually what makes this conclusion darkly beautiful. In the first 2, the newer versions of himself (as the scar healed) was killing the older versions of himself, but in this one it flips the script and the oldest, and youngest version of Yoongi ran to try to save Agust D.
4:58 "I wanna bounce to your trauma bro" 😭😭 This is everyone when we finally read the lyrics & discover what a song that we bounce to is really all about. *House of Cards & Black Swan has entered the chat* 😭 This is me kidding around, pretending that I don't get teary-eyed whenever I listen to this masterpiece. 🥲💜🫂
The motorcycle accident was real. He almost died bc of it. And soon after delivering him, his Mom had to undergo a heart surgery, so the baby had to stay with grandparents. While BTS was busy with their schedule, Suga got a call that his Dad was suffering from Cancer. So yeah, those are painful memories to him.
You are the smartest reactor I've watched (and I watch a lot) Yoongi's mother had to have heart surgery right after his birth, so he is carrying guilt. The news of his father's liver cancer came when they were on tour (his father had a liver transplant). Yoongi also left home to become a rapper against his parents wishes, which is kind of a bad thing in Korea. Imagine the typical, living and working in a dark leaky basement, earning no money, getting ripped off, trying to follow that rapper dream. Then BigHit came and hired him but he had a terrible accident. The emotional and physical pain caused him to consider "options" - pain pills, self harm (scar), suicide. He was on the verge but either his roommate Jin figured it out, or Yoongi asked for help - at any rate he found his way into therapy. He was also absolutely loved by the other six young men, they loved him into getting better. His first two videos Daechwita and Hague express his anger and pain, the third one is the therapeutic process of understanding your trauma, that it can be faced, unpacked as they say, and healed. Many Army have been on this path. Aside from rapping, as you explore BTS, you will realize that their success is way more than exceptional talent and teamwork, it is love for each other beyond bounds. That's why they'r'e coming back together. That's why they are a role model for the entire world. Pleeeez watch Taylors Guide to BTS Members, and go look at the vocals of this group. They are ONE group.
The main function of the cerebral amygdala is the processing and storage of emotional reactions, essential for human survival since it is in charge of receiving signals of potential danger and developing reactions for self-protection.
What others have said, the amygdala stores those reactions to fear and such, but he said in an interview that it’s for protection. So you know to be afraid of danger. But if you have all this fear and trauma stored up, and it’s supposed to be protecting you, when will you finally be safe so you can let that trauma go? What I got from it was… that which doesn’t kill is makes us stronger, but when will I finally be strong enough so I won’t suffer or be afraid anymore? In the context of the other two songs, I feel like he’s understanding these other versions of himself were his psychological response to his fear, anger, trauma. Valid at the time, but also harmful (like the self-inflicted wound). We wound ourselves in response to trauma and fear. We are inside our own heads, harming ourselves, trapped in our fear, anger, and trauma, and constantly healing ourselves in an endless cycle of growth.
In the video he is eating almond, almond is an other name used to talk about amygdala, there is a book named " almond " that all the rapline of bts have read who talk about a little boy with an atrophy of the amygdala. Because of this condition he can't feel and express any emotions and his mother try to cope with it by giving him almond to eat to feed his amygdala. This book is truly a heartbreaker. Bts is know for putting lot of references in their song and clip i love to read their recommandations it's help me understanding their music better and i really feel like they help me growing up to become someone i'm proud of and to cope with my own issues. Because of them i've never felt alone it's comforting to find artist who find the words you're struggling to express. This song hit hard in our deppest demons.
Suga was a delivery guy while he was a trainee, he needed to pay his school. it was a real accident. He was afraid to be kicked out and didnt tell anybody about accident, he told that he fell down from stairs but he is ok. he took painkillers to minimalize his pain, but we could see in some concerts how he is suffering from the shoulder pain. he had this pain till 2020 - so, over 7 years!!! until he d got a surgery. When bighit discovered it (probably on his earlier debut years), they said, he should tell them earlier, they paid his school that he doesnt need to work on side jobs. as far as we know, his parents are alive, coz in one recent episode of Suchwita he said that his father always reminds him to have some family and kids. amygdala is a part of brain, responsible for bad memories and fears. it has an almond shape. it affects/creates intrusive thoughts, that creates an ocd syndrome, when people's mind and body cant control over themselve (example - when people are automatically covering their face when they hear a dog barking if they had an accident with a dog).
He walked through the door in the last concert of the D-Day tour, looked like the entire stage was a representation of this room/his mind. It was so meaningful. It makes me happy that, in some way, he managed to heal himself through making music (art), and many of his fans have healed by listening to him.
He was living in his traumas for many years, he shoved it back but it didn’t heal. He wrote this song because his therapist told him ‘how about you write about it?’, because he’s an artist, and that probably will be the best way for him to heal. In order to truly move on, he have to take all the bad things out, relive them instead of letting the wound rot at the back of his mind. I won’t go into it, but he truly went through a lot. And as he said, he healed and it really is all in the past now, so he can be honest and open about it. Knowing that artists have lots of haters and people waiting to shit on them, putting out a raw song about his real personal traumas must’ve been hard. And it’s incredibly courageous
here after 2 months of the MV to say that in the last concert of his tour, Suga showed that he finally made it through the door. Thank you for your channel, I just saw all the BTS reaction videos, record more please! 🇧🇷
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. I was finally able to cry for him at last on my 2nd watch. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. FYI his parents are both alive and doing fine as far as we know. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 I Purple Jimin 💜said on 4/25/23 People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. It's the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues. Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23 I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point. The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world. @charethiebeldad8303 said on 5/4/23 His trying to save himself, but failed so he just accepted the other side of him wholeheartedly and later they both find healing,. MIN YOONGI /SUGA/AGUST D was indeed a genius! Thank you guys as always! 🤗💜💜💜💜
This mv made me rethink the parts in his past songs where he says "I ain't no weak pill popper like you." They sounded like basic dis tracks but now I think he was talking to the fragile part of himself that keeps revisiting his wounds and making his scars deeper. I don't know. All I know is that he's brave and brilliant and the world is a better place for having him in it.
i heard sumn that Black people dance to the beat of the song. it’s so true bc when i hear this song i know it’s soo depressing but then the beat got me movinn 😢

When Yoongi was a baby, he was left to live with his mom's family for a while because his mom was very sick (possibly somewhere before or during his mom's heart surgery). Poor dude lived with the guilt feeling that he might be the cause of his mom sickness. He's mom is currently living healthily, but she isn't allowed to get tired. I remember she used to have a restaurant in his hometown somewhere around 4 or 5 years ago, but it was closed down because she can't be too tired and running a restaurant apparently exhausted her.

@@SUGABTS669 Should I tag you to officisl weverse announcement that members of BTS DON'T HAVE any social media acc beside their official IG accs and Jungkook's tiktok accs?? Moth3rfvckers pretending to be BTS members to scam people in 2023 is wild🤦♀️ One more thing, Yoongi is an atheist. He never say "God bless you". Stfu!!
This is not accurate… 1.) His mom had heart surgery not so long ago… It did not happen while he was a baby… Yes, he lived with his grandparents because his mother and father didn’t approve of his way of life and his choices… Which caused him to be homeless for much of the time! 2.) he is definitely not an atheist.!! Huge believer in God… That’s why he wears the shirts! By contract they are not allowed to touch publicly on religion . But you are correct about he does not say “God bless you”. And yes, we also disagree with Sugabts669 (the keyboard sniper) as well! Staff
