The Apache will 100% be relevant in the future, especially with the possibility of upgrading the longbow radar to AESA and the integration of NLOS missles like Spike. The combination will mean the Apache can detect and attack targets out to 20 miles or more while remaining hidden behind cover.
Hell yeah it'll survive, probably in an autonomous platform. In the late 2020s,.look the Cobra is still relevant today as the Super Cobra,so yeah even the Super Cobra will be in service in the late 2020s,into 2040
The Super Cobra is gone from the Marine Corps. It's been replaced by the Viper. While the Huey was replaced by the Venom. Both are the 4 blade equivalents or their predecessors. It's still common to call them the Cobra and Huey though.
May this marvel of engineering live on and as a machine to protect. Another wonder is the commanche but she never became as famous as the apache.. Thank you PilotphotoG for the video.
One again did you ever deliver! I know several people who have had their lives saved by the Apache. The boost it gives to morale just from knowing it's there is immeasurable. Several things, aren't the bends in the tips of the blades to cut down on rotor chop to keep the noise down? The Longbow variant was also the first time I heard about crew information over load from all the systems, was something done to mitigate this? I am glad to hear about the added safety in seat and cockpit design for the crew. I have seen first hand the back and leg injuries from the crashes of earlier helicopters, low altitude and low speed. The Guardian variant will be the Apache's future, drones are here to stay and any component that adds range and diminishes your own detection is a game changer. Cheers on a brilliant video and cheers to your father.
Thank you as always Ben! I'm not sure about the information overload, but I imagine that user interfaces have vastly improved since the Longbow was first introduced.
Now that you've watched this you need to go and watch a movie called Firebirds. It is USDA certified prime 90's Nick Cage cheese. It's like a B-movie version of Top Gun, but with Apaches instead of Tomcats and Nick Cage instead of Tom Cruise. Oh and Tommy Lee Jones is in it too! It's so bad that it's good!
Great brief Tog. Incredible details on features and characteristics. I predict the Apache will be in service longer than its forefather, the Cobra/Viper AH1 family, now 50+ years active duty.
A Legend in it's own 'life-time'.Terror of infantry and armour in all -climate battlefield scenarios. A price-less asset in urban/sub-urban FIBUA warfare. A genuinely effective weapon from dawn through darkness . Life saver: Death bringer.. Blessed friend; Fearful foe. Awesome. Top-drawer video. Thank you!
Every country that bought the Eurocopter Tiger is crying watching this. 😂. If anyone hasn’t watched the opening shots fired from Desert Storm, should. A squad of Apache’s wreaked havoc.
Apaches don’t always come out the winner. It’s all who you’re up against with, tactics and very often luck. Check out how 32 Apaches were ambushed by Iraqis with one shot down and many severely damaged.
This is a dominator on the field of hell. It’s no joke. Both offensively and defensively, it has the jones for Big League ball. This helicopter plays for keeps and those who tango with it find out in an ugly way! Air assault is where it’s at and this one’s a keeper. Stay safe my mates!😊👍🏻😁
Wow, that is an impressive helicopter! I was looking forward to this documentary and it went beyond my expectations. Great job! and the ending was the best part...
I believe it’ll absolutely stick around and continue to be highly effective. It’s my favorite gunship and in my opinion, the best attack helo in the world. Love this vid Tog! Here’s to your father…🍻
Improved Cobra, the Viper is in regular service still, AH-64 is more fit to be service weapon. Viper could use upgrade switching the skies to the amortized wheels, which is modern standard. Keeps the pilots safe at rough landing.
I've got a new favorite video bro ! EXCELLENT ! Great job ! Very comprehensive and informative . As before , two enthusiastic thumbs up from this camp 👍👍
Great video, you should make one on the AH-1Z. I'm curious why the designers didn't use a 30mm gun designed to fire the same tank busting armour piercing rounds the A10 uses.
Because of the recoil. That's why the Fara programm will also use a 20mm if it is the 102mm or 139mm but a 30x173mm is why to big of an recoil and even the 30x113mm which is now used with the m230 chain gun has a very strong recoil which the heli can handle just so but it can't handle anymore
30mm rounds might go through the rear of an older tank, or the roof if fired at a near 90° angle, but otherwise they’d just be good for busting up the sights and external gear, or maybe setting off some ERA panels. But you can do that with a 20-25mm. Also, the gun on the Apache has a much shorter barrel, so you can’t get the same muzzle velocity that you can on an A-10 anyway.
My respect to your father for his service to the country bro, we owe much to him for keeping us safe all the time Nice review on this beautiful lady bro, specially your explanation for the ASPI upward exhaust. I just hope my incoming new Limited AH-64E Guardian kit has this exhaust as well, so i got the option to build either US Army version or foreign version. Keep up the good work bro. Wonder if you make video about the BUFF, and her future upgrade
of course it can, but nothing is invincible on the battlefield. Tactics, intelligence, training, supply, bravery, and tech have a lot to do with platforms and troops living or dying on the battlefield...just ask the Russians.
Yes...until today its powerful, superior characteristics allowing its remain in service...too nice video clearly explained characteristics of two versions and its historical backgrounds..enjoyed video thanks (pilot photog) channel 👏🏼👏🏼🦅🇺🇲🦅👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻
The only thing that could replace an Apache would be another helicopter or VTOL a platform as advanced as the F35 that doesn’t sacrifice any existing AH64 capabilities.
Grim Reapers send me to you. Just watched your F-24 Hogcat. I will just say too many engines SMH. Will you be doing a videos about the V-280? Would love to see a V-280 with the cargo area removed so it can carry a ground vehicle?
nearly ten years in the military, never heard them called the flying tank.....it doesn't even make sense. I have heard the Mi-24 called that, but never an apache.
Who here has shot an M2 or another .50 and believes those windows could withstand hits from one?? Or maybe look up the deaths of AH64 in Iraq and what calibers were effective ... (it's more than you think).
So many American and Allied lives have been saved by the Apache, and the A-10. The greatest CAS providers in the history of warfare. (And the AC-130 Specter, of course)
if its so bad ass why wasnt it sent to ukraine to defeat the russians? maybe because its a dangerous proposition in an area with sophisticated isr and electronic warfare and standoff missile attacks dominating the space. plus i bet requires years of training to make it effective.
If you see this. Do NOT run. That only activates the Apache’s hunter instinct and it WILL hunt you down. You might think you’re safe, cooking dinner at home, when suddenly..... BAM! Hellfire missile in your kitchen. The only thing worse than a Hellfire missile in your kitchen is Gordon Ramsey.
I'm super bummed I wasn't allowed to be an Apache pilot. I have an autoimmune disease that make me shakey every so often and it was to big a risk for the Army. I a fantastic simulator pilot but that's obviously not the same. With there was a cure. I'd still try.
I would say that Apache pilots in Europe are begging to be let loose on that ridiculous 40 mile Russian convoy invading Ukraine. If they let the Apaches loose the entire Russian army would retreat East of the Urals. (it could also cause a nuclear war so not all good)
