We need a new generation of Hee Bee Gee Bees to parody the dire state of music right now. Even though most of today's Pop music is pretty much an unintended parody itself I think an articulate and sardonic re-examination of modern music is in order!

Can't you just imagine the police parody is a parody of Bruno Mars? Many of his songs are obviously so inspired by the Police anyway.

Tilly Tongue themindminder And Jimmy Page and Robert Plant also threatened legal action against Little Roger & the Goosebumps for their 1977 parody of Led Zeppelin titled "Stairway to Gilligan's Island," which incorporated the music from that most overplayed FM hard rock radio staple with the lyrics to one of television's most inane sitcoms. It is absolutely amazing how well the two tunes mesh, and how much better musically the recording is than any of the later pop music parodies by Weird Al Yankovic. Incidentally, the agreement that prevented Led Zep from carrying out their lawsuit was that the Goosebumps destroy all existing copies of their parody single, originally titled "Gilligan's Island (Stairway)." But the group re-released the record in 2000, and in a 2004 interview on National Public Radio Plant claimed the parody was always his favorite cover of "Stairway to Heaven." That was probably a lie on Plant's part. But it was trendy then to say such so as not to be perceived as lacking a self-deprecatory sense of humor, which is worse than a song parody for one's public image.

Had a white label copy of this in a picture sleeve that I found at a jumble sale when I was 5!! Didn't know it wasn't a proper police record at the age!!
