I HAD NEVER HEARD OF AHMAD JAMAL, BUT ABOUT 45 YEARS AGO, I WALKED INTO A STORE THAT WAS PLAYING HIS MUSIC AND I STARTED DANCING RIGHT ON THE SPOT WHERE I WAS STANDING. IT WAS THIS VERY SONG THAT WAS PLAYING. I IMMEDIATELY BOUGHT THE ALBUM AND HAVE BEEN GROVIN' EVER SINCE. HIS MUSIC IS SO WELL KNOWN AND SO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER PIANO PLAYER. ALL OF HIS GROUP ARE SUPERB MUSCIANS. THANK YOU FOR HAVING THIS ON RU-vid! MAY AHMAD HAVE MANY MORE BIRTHDAYS SO HE CAN PLAY MORE MUSIC. TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY AND I AM DANCING LIKE IT WAS 45 YEARS AGO! . . .SYLVIA!

From our deaf parents who never knew music, my older sister bought the Ahmad Jamal Live Album at the Pershing Hotel in NY 1959 album with the iconic Poinciana tune. We played it on the old record player. I was instantly hooked on this sound. This new music to me of which I had never known so I was instantly hooked with a 12 year old hypnotic self-induced addiction to something new after Grandma told me to walk down the street to take the Saturday morning piano lessons from the lady. Yes, I'm playing piano again with all the sexy arpeggios. Not bad but others say I should put a vase on the local public piano's they have everywhere here, haha. I was able to see Ahmad Jamal a number of times not too many years ago at Jazz Alley in Seattle. Dean Jackson Seattle

My favorite pianist ever. The tone he gets is matchless. This song is just one of the greatest standards. Saw him eleven years ago and was blown away by the beauty and power of his playing.

I got hooked on Ahmad Jamal in 1962. When my friends were groovin on Chuck Berry I would sneak in Poincienna and they would laugh and say" more Augie Malted music?" - they got to love it too. But I lost touch and was delighted to see he is the same great talent - nearly 60 years of beautiful music.

A part of me is missing with the loss of this extraordinary person. His music always took me to the beautiful places I always dreamed of, I am grateful I still have his music to take me there still.
