It's not like Phylicia was his 1st wife....or even 2nd....she was the 3rd. You make it sound like he went through 4 women after Phylicia. They were married for 16 years. That's way longer than many couples make it, especially celebrity/athlete couples. You could expect a lot worse out of a former NFL star.

Even married 16 years, he could still have been a crappy husband. By the time he married Phylicia, he was no longer an active athlete, but was working as a sports announcer. Perhaps the first two marriages during his active sports career can be forgiven him, but by the time he married Phylicia, he should have been a lot more settled. That the marriage lasted 16 years may have more to do with her and/or the fact that they were a high profile couple than with him being a steady dude committed to his wife and family.

I don't understand how he abandoned his family though....he already had 4 kids by the time he met Phylicia, and then had one more kid with her....most of those kids are not Phylicia's

2nd marriages have a 60-65% chance of divorce, 3rd marriages ~80%+. If children are involved that rate for 2nd marriages divorcing goes up to 70%+. That's why I would never date a divorced woman. With odds like that, I'd rather play a game of chance in Vegas (the odds are better!!)
